Here’s How a Formal Vote on the Impeachment Inquiry Could Help Republicans and Hurt Democrats Ahead of 2020

The Democratic-led impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump poses serious risks to former Vice President Joe Biden and a possible roadmap for Republicans trying to defend the president.

If history is any indication, then Democrats could give House Republicans the ability to subpoena testimony from Biden or his son, Hunter Biden. The majority parties who sought to impeach former presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton granted their minority opponents such powers. . .

Even if Pelosi gives Republicans a vote, then she still might not allow them the power to subpoena, Julian Epstein, former attorney for the committee during Clinton’s impeachment, told reporters.

Denying them that opportunity would likely give Trump and his defenders a new issue to find fault with, namely that House Democrats are denying the president due process. “It could spell those things out or doesn’t have to,” Epstein said, adding: “it gives them a soapbox on which to argue process.”

The inquiry is a result of Trump’s decision in July to ask Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the claim that Biden pressured the country into firing a prosecutor who was looking into Hunter’s business ties. There is no evidence that Biden made the move to protect his son from a probe. Dick’s Sporting Goods Scrapped $5 Million of Its Own Inventory to Dump Firearms

Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO Ed Stack admitted over the weekend that his push to remove guns from circulation led him to turn $5 million in his own inventory to scrap metal.

Stack explained during a Sunday interview on CBS that once he made the decision to pull firearms from his own shelves, he realized that he didn’t feel right about them being in circulation at all. “I said, ‘You know what? If we really think these things should be off the street, we need to destroy them,’” he explained.

Stack made his first corporate move away from firearm sales in 2012, after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut — he made the decision to stop selling the AR-15.

“All we were going to do was just take it off the shelf and not say anything,” adding that the backlash was a bit harsher than he had initially expected. “All this about, you know, how we were anti-Second Amendment, you know, ‘we don’t believe in the Constitution,’ and none of that could be further from the truth. We just didn’t want to sell the assault-style weapons that could inflict that kind of damage.” (Read more from “Dick’s Sporting Goods Scrapped $5 Million of Its Own Inventory to Dump Firearms” HERE)

Here’s What Americans Think About Transgender Athletes in Girls’ Sports (VIDEO)

Most Americans believe that biologically male athletes who identify as transgender women have competitive advantages over female athletes, according to newly released polling data.

A Morning Consult survey released Tuesday shows that majorities of self-identified Republicans, Democrats and independents all say that male athletes who identify as transgender women “have a competitive advantage” over female athletes.

Overall, 57% of American adults said that the biologically male athletes have an advantage, while just 20% disagreed. Another 23% gave no opinion. The majority view is backed up by scientific research, but clashes with elected Democrats’ positioning on the issue.

House Democrats unanimously supported the Equality Act, which, if signed into law, would force schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams. Multiple House Democrats denied on the record that the biologically male athletes would have unfair advantages. . .

Former U.S. Olympic athlete Rebecca Dussault warned in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation published last month that allowing biologically male athletes to compete in female athletics will be detrimental for girls’ and women’s sports. Mike Dunleavy on Leftist Special Interests Pushing Recall: ‘The Fight’s On’

The fight is on in the northernmost American state as its newly-elected GOP Gov. Mike Dunleavy faces an effort pushed by leftist special interests to recall him after he delivered on his promises to reduce the size and scope of government and reignite the state’s economy.

Dunleavy, an ally of President Donald Trump, faces an effort in his state to recall him because he has cut the state budget significantly and got the economy booming again—a very similar fight to the national impeachment battle that Trump faces.

Dunleavy, just like Trump, is fighting through it. He has launched a website to rally voters to his side amid the recall push and appeared on Breitbart News Sunday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel this weekend to make his case for why he believes the leftist special interests are targeting both him and Trump.

“The bottom line is this, just like the president—he wasn’t supposed to win. He was not within the establishment. He was not part of the swamp. What people fail to realize, President Trump and what we’re trying to do up here is to work on behalf of the average American and average Alaskan—not the special interests,” Dunleavy said. “It’s those special interests who are trying to redo the election here in Alaska and trying to impeach the president now nationally.”

“So, we made the fatal error I guess of doing things for our people—the average American, the average Alaskan—and not kowtowing to the establishment and the special interests,” he continued. “So, I guess this is what you get when you fight on behalf of the average American and average Alaskan. I wouldn’t change a thing, and I think if you asked President Trump he wouldn’t change a thing. So, the fight’s on. They want to try and do a recall or redo the election, but we’re up to the task because we think we’re doing the right thing for Alaska just like the president does for the nation.” (Read more from “Mike Dunleavy on Leftist Special Interests Pushing Recall: ‘the Fight’s on’” HERE)

China Warns U.S. Brands to Accept Communism

The Chinese government newspaper Global Times warned “global brands” to “make their members speak cautiously” on Chinese political issues Monday in response to an ongoing controversy following an NBA executive lending support to pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. . .

Following condemnation from the Communist Party and its puppets in Chinese society, social media, and the NBA, the NBA itself issued a statement also condemning Morey for simply challenging the dogma of a country currently maintaining a million-strong concentration camp population. The NBA has established a training camp in the same province as the concentration camps. . .

The Global Times called Americans “ridiculous” for defending freedom of speech, especially targeting 2020 Democratic candidate Andrew Yang for criticizing China.

“Morey does have the freedom to praise Hong Kong protesters, just like the Chinese fans also have the freedom to abandon the Rockets,” the Times claimed. “The problem is that Morey’s freedom is at the expense of Rockets’ huge commercial interests, which the team is unwilling to give up.”

The newspaper went on to insist that the controversy “has nothing to do with the Chinese government” – even though the Chinese government controls all aspects of the country’s relationship with the NBA and heavily regulates speech, meaning Chinese “fans” say only what the government legally allows them to. The Global Times then dared accuse the United States of using “ideological pressure” against the Houston Rockets to keep them from surrendering to China. Ilhan Omar Files for Divorce, Blames the Media

On Tuesday’s radio program, Glenn Beck and Stu Burguiere discussed the details of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) impending divorce from Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, amid allegations that she has been having an affair with D.C.-based political consultant Tim Mynett.

The Minnesota Rep. filed for divorce on Friday, her 37th birthday, in Minnesota, claiming “an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage relationship.”

Omar and Hirsi first married in “faith tradition” (not legally) in 2002. The two separated in 2008, shortly before Omar legally married Ahmed Elmi, the man alleged to be her brother. In 2017, Omar legally divorced Elmi, and then remarried Hirsi in 2018, this time legally.

In August 2019, the New York Post reported that a D.C.-based doctor, Beth Mynett, filed for divorce from her husband, Tim Mynett, after he admitted to having an affair with Omar. Soon after, Hirsi reportedly demanded a divorce as well. (Read more from “Ilhan Omar Files for Divorce, Blames the Media” HERE)

House Appropriations Democrat Threatens to Withhold Administration Pay over Ambassador’s Canceled Testimony

A Democratic member of the House Appropriations Committee has threatened to withhold executive branch pay over the canceled testimony of a United States diplomat amid the House’s ongoing impeachment efforts.

Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump said that U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland would not appear at a planned deposition that was part of House Democrats’ ongoing impeachment efforts because he didn’t want the official to be subject to a “compromised kangaroo court.”

That afternoon, Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claiming that the White House’s decision violated federal law passed earlier this year and that whomever was responsible for it could have their pay withheld.

In the letter, Pocan sited a section of federal appropriations law passed in February that prohibits paying the salary of any “officer or employee of the Federal Government who prohibits or prevents … any other officer or employee of the Federal Government from … communication or contact with any Member, committee, or subcommittee of the Congress.”

“I believe the person prohibiting Ambassador Sondland from testifying before the House Intelligence Committee is in violation of this statute, and that their salary should be withheld until Ambassador Sondland appears before Congress,” wrote Pocan, who sits on three appropriations subcommittees.

The Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower Worked for a 2020 Democratic Candidate

Well, this is rather interesting. And by interesting, I mean the whole Trump impeachment circus looks like more of a joke with every passing day. We all know what got us here. President Trump had a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in July. There was supposedly some quid pro quo nonsense, with Trump threatening to withhold military aid unless Ukraine opened a corruption probe into Hunter Biden’s position at an energy company; Biden has zero experience in the energy sector. He’s also the son of former Vice President and 2020 candidate Joe Biden. The allegation is that Hunter sat on the board selling access. Is there truth to it? All we know is that Joe gets very, very upset when people talk about it.

The White House released a transcript of the call. There was no quid pro quo. There was nothing illegal. This came about because some whistleblower, who is reportedly a CIA agent, heard some other people say that this call was felonious in nature. It isn’t. It’s based on second-hand accounts. It’s fraught with errors. And this person was cited for political bias against Trump. This person is also a registered Democrat, but beyond that, we now know that this person worked with a 2020 Democrat (via Washington Examiner):

In an Aug. 26 letter, the Intelligence Community’s inspector general, Michael Atkinson, wrote that the anonymous whistleblower who set off the Trump-Ukraine impeachment fight showed “some indicia of an arguable political bias … in favor of a rival political candidate.”

A few weeks later, news reports said the whistleblower’s possible bias was that he is a registered Democrat. That was all. Incredulous commentary suggested that Republicans who were pushing the bias talking point were so blinded by their own partisanship that they saw simple registration with the Democratic Party as evidence of wrongdoing. . .

Now, however, there is word of more evidence of possible bias on the whistleblower’s part. Under questioning from Republicans during last Friday’s impeachment inquiry interview with Atkinson, the inspector general revealed that the whistleblower’s possible bias was not that he was simply a registered Democrat. It was that he had a significant tie to one of the Democratic presidential candidates currently vying to challenge President Trump in next year’s election.

Report: Mitt Romney Has Been Working Behind the Scenes in Anticipation of a Trump Impeachment Trial

The following is an excerpt from Blaze Media’s daily Capitol Hill Brief email newsletter:

According to a new report, Mitt Romney may not be planning on challenging President Donald Trump on the campaign trail, but he’s making moves to undermine him in a likely Senate impeachment trial. Vanity Fair reports that Romney has “firmly decided” against primarying the president, but he has been reaching out to key Republican Senate offices on the subject of impeachment.

“He could have tremendous influence in the impeachment process as the lone voice of conscience in the Republican caucus,” a Romney adviser told the magazine, though the senator’s office didn’t comment on the story. “Romney is the one guy who could bring along Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, Ben Sasse. Romney is the pressure point in the impeachment process. That’s why the things he’s saying are freaking Republicans out.”

The longtime, intermittent feud between Romney and Trump has heated up again amid Democrats’ push for impeachment and the foreign controversy behind it. After Romney called Trump’s suggestion that China and the Ukraine look into Joe and Hunter Bidens’ alleged corruption “wrong and appalling,” Trump responded the next day by calling Romney a “pompous ass” who “never knew how to win.” (For more from the author of “Report: Mitt Romney Has Been Working Behind the Scenes in Anticipation of a Trump Impeachment Trial” please click HERE)
