House Overrides Trump Veto of $740 Billion Defense Bill

The House voted Monday to override President Donald Trump’s veto of an annual defense spending bill, placing the final steps of defying the Republican president in the hands of the GOP-led Senate.

The measure to override Trump’s veto of the defense bill passed 322 to 87 on Monday evening. The Senate will vote next on whether to override the veto.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said his chamber would vote on overriding the veto Tuesday.

The bill, known as the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, passed the House on Dec. 8. with the support of more than three-fourths of the chamber. A large majority of the GOP-controlled Senate also approved the bill, giving both chambers a higher share of yea votes than the two-thirds required to defeat a presidential veto.

The sweeping defense bill, that authorizes a topline of $740 billion in spending and outlines Pentagon policy, typically passes with strong bipartisan support and veto-proof majorities as it funds America’s national security portfolio. It has been signed into law every year for nearly six consecutive decades. (Read more from “House Overrides Trump Veto of $740 Billion Defense Bill” HERE)

CNN Reporters Admit Change in Coverage After Trump

Establishment media reporters confessed in a story for the Atlantic published this week that they will not cover Joe Biden’s administration in the same manner as President Trump’s, with CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta floating “hazard pay” for covering the Trump White House during the past four years.

In an Atlantic piece examining the direction the press will go in following the end of Trump’s first term, Acosta — who made a name for himself over the past four years by engaging in highly public spats with the commander-in-chief and asking what Trump once described as “nasty, snarky” questions — admitted that he will not approach a Biden administration with the same fervor.

“I don’t think the press should be trying to whip up the Biden presidency and turn it into must-see TV in a contrived way,” he said in what some consider an astonishing admission given Acosta’s propensity to turn Q&A’s with Trump into a live spectacle, as Breitbart News has documented over the years. One of the most memorable exchanges occurred early in 2017, with then-President-elect Trump calling CNN “terrible” and refusing to give Acosta a question by telling him, “You are fake news.” The exchange coincided with BuzzFeed and CNN reporting of an unverified dossier purportedly connecting Trump to Russia — a theory that has been thoroughly debunked:

CNN reporter Daniel Dale, widely known for “fact-checking” the president, also admitted that his day-to-day will likely change with the incoming administration. He has already determined that “it will not be a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week job to fact-check Biden.”

“Though he stressed that the same ‘intensity and rigor’ should be applied to the incoming president, the simple reality is that Biden doesn’t lie nearly as often as Trump does,” the Atlantic reported. (Read more from “CNN Reporters Admit Change in Coverage After Trump” HERE)

Police Report: Girlfriend Warned Nashville Bomber Was ‘Building Bombs’ a Year Ago

Nashville police officers went to the home of Christmas Day suicide bomber Anthony Warner in August 2019 after his girlfriend claimed he was constructing bombs in the RV that decimated a block of the city’s downtown, disrupting cellphone and 911 services for days. The new report contradicts claims from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations that Warner was “not on our radar” prior to the bombing.

Officers were called to home of Warner’s girlfriend on Aug. 21, just a mile and a half away from Warner’s home on Bakertown Lane, according to the Tennessean. They found her outside her home with two unloaded guns where she told officials that Warner “was building bombs in the RV trailer at his residence,” according to an Metropolitan Nashville Police Department report.

MNPD spokesman Don Aaron told the outlet that the girlfriend “related that the guns belonged to a ‘Tony Warner’ and that she did not want them in the house any longer.”

The girlfriend’s lawyer, Raymond Throckmorton III, said at the time that Warner “frequently talks about the military and bomb making,” telling authorities that Warner “knows what he is doing and is capable of making a bomb.”

Mormon Church Hit With Lawsuits Alleging Boy Scouts Abuse Cover-Up

Seven lawsuits were filed against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday, alleging the church participated in covering up decades of sexual abuse in Arizona Boy Scout troops.

Hurley McKenna & Mertz, the firm representing defendants in the suits, said in a statement that the church “must be held accountable in order to bring healing and closure to Mormon victims of childhood sexual abuse,” according to the Associated Press.

All seven lawsuits allege church officials failed to notify authorities about allegations of abuse that occurred between 1972 and 2009. According to the suits, when bishops were notified of abuse allegations, victims were told to “keep quiet” while the church conducted its own internal investigation — while the accused troop leaders and volunteers continued to participate in scouting activities. Massive Study: Asymptomatic Transmission of COVID-19 Didn’t Occur at All

A study of almost 10 million people in Wuhan, China, found that asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 did not occur at all, thus undermining the need for lockdowns, which are built on the premise of the virus being unwittingly spread by infectious, asymptomatic people.

Published in November in the scientific journal Nature Communications, the paper was compiled by 19 scientists, mainly from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, but also from scientific institutions across China as well as in the U.K. and Australia. It focused on the residents of Wuhan, ground zero for COVID-19, where 9,899,828 people took part in a screening program between May 14 and June 1, which provided clear results as to the possibility of any asymptomatic transmission of the virus.

Asymptomatic transmission has been the underlying justification of lockdowns enforced all across the world. The most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) still states that the virus “can be spread by people who do not have symptoms.” In fact, the CDC claimed that asymptomatic people “are estimated to account for more than 50 percent of transmissions.” . . .

However, the new study in Nature Communications, titled “Post-lockdown SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid screening in nearly 10 million residents of Wuhan, China,” debunked the concept of asymptomatic transmission.

It stated that out of the nearly 10 million people in the study, “300 asymptomatic cases” were found. Contact tracing was then carried out and of those 300, no cases of COVID-19 were detected in any of them. “A total of 1,174 close contacts of the asymptomatic positive cases were traced, and they all tested negative for the COVID-19.” (Read more from “Massive Study: Asymptomatic Transmission of COVID-19 Didn’t Occur at All” HERE)

Medical Journal: Hide Everybody’s Sex To Spare Transgender People’s Feelings

The New England Journal of Medicine has published a paper that argues since sex designations on birth certificates could emotionally hurt transgender and intersex people, the information should not appear on the document.

The premise behind the idea is that “assigned sex” should appear “below the line,” allowing it to be used in vital statistics but not identify the individual on the document itself. The argument is built on claims the Supreme Court has determined sex distinctions are no longer relevant and there is no useful clinical purpose to them.

The authors of this paper further argue that the best solution is to remove all acknowledgment of a person’s sex altogether. This should be done with passports and other identifying documents since the LGBT left sees no purpose in legally identifying sex at birth for anyone, when all that matters to them is gender identity. Computer Repairman Who Brought Forward Hunter Biden’s Laptop Files Lawsuit

The Delaware computer repairman who stepped forward earlier this year with information about nefarious information on a laptop that both the DOJ and the FBI confirmed belonged to Hunter Biden, on Tuesday filed a $500 million lawsuit against Twitter.

According to the shop owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, Twitter’s suppression of the New York Post story about the laptop branded him as a “hacker.” The information found on the laptop is now part of a federal tax evasion probe, Attorney General William Barr revealed earlier this month.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Miami, was tossed out because of jurisdiction issues, the New York Post reported.

Mac Isaac is suing Twitter for defamation in US District Court, claiming the company decided to “communicate to the world that [Mac Isaac] is a hacker.”

But Miami federal Judge Beth Bloom quickly dismissed the case on Monday, ruling that “the Court lacks subject matter jurisdiction” because the suit says Mac Isaac is a citizen of Delaware and Twitter is incorporated there.

Mitch McConnell Blocks $2,000 Stimulus Checks

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday blocked unanimous passage of the $2,000 COVID-19 stimulus checks requested by President Trump.

McConnell (R-Ky.) objected after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked for a unanimous vote on a five-page bill that passed the House on Monday with 44 Republican votes.

Trump requested the $2,000 checks last week, saying the $600 checks approved as part of a $2.3 trillion pandemic relief and government funding bill was too small.

McConnell blocked unanimous passage after scheduling a Wednesday vote to override Trump’s veto of a $740 billion defense bill.

It’s unclear if enough Senate Democrats will rally behind an attempted filibuster, or if the override vote will proceed without McConnell agreeing to a deal on $2,000 checks. (Read more from “Mitch McConnell Blocks $2,000 Stimulus Checks” HERE)

This Common Sleep Aide May Prevent Coronavirus

Researchers are finding new possibilities an over-the-counter supplement – melatonin – best known as sleep aid.

Scientists at the Cleveland Clinic have discovered it’s a potential way to help prevent or treat COVID-19.

Lead researcher Dr. Feixiong Cheng, Ph.D., and his team used artificial intelligence to comb through a COVID-19 registry at the Cleveland Clinic, which included nearly 27,000 people. They found people who take melatonin are nearly 28% less likely to test positive for COVID.

The difference is even more significant for African Americans – the study said, “Importantly, melatonin usage is associated with a 52% reduced likelihood of a positive laboratory test result for SARS-CoV-2 in African Americans.” (Read more from “This Common Sleep Aide May Prevent Coronavirus” HERE)

Louisiana Congressman-Elect Dead From COVID

Louisiana Rep.-elect Luke Letlow died on Tuesday night from complications related to the coronavirus. He was 41.

A family friend confirmed to the Monroe News-Star that Letlow died in the intensive care unit at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, where he had been hospitalized with COVID-19 since Dec. 23.

“The family appreciates the numerous prayers and support over the past days but asks for privacy during this difficult and unexpected time,” his spokesman said in a statement.

The newly-elected Republican announced on Dec. 18 that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was first quarantining at home. . .

Letlow, a married dad of two from rural Start, La., won the Pelican State’s 5th District seat in a Dec. 5 runoff race and was set to take office on Sunday. (Read more from “Louisiana Congressman-Elect Dead From COVID” HERE)
