Pro-Mask Social Media Has Meltdown After Updated CDC Guidelines

Social media users have come out en masse against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new guidance regarding masks, vowing to continue covering their faces indefinitely. . .

Many social media users responded to the announcement with concern, and in some cases, outright disdain. . .

One user even said that the move was counterintuitive to protecting children.

“So, are we just actively not protecting the kids anymore?” the user asked in response to the CDC’s announcement. “Vaccines were approved for 12+ just days ago. Getting all that done takes time and what about the rest of them? It may not hit kids as hard, but it still f***ing sucks and can have complications.” (Read more from “Pro-Mask Social Media Has Meltdown After Updated CDC Guidelines” HERE)

Liz Cheney Officially Replaced

House Republicans approved Rep. Elise Stefanik to their No. 3 leadership position Friday — officially voting her into the post after Rep. Liz Cheney was forced out this week.

The 134-46 tally for Stefanik (R-NY) was nearly guaranteed before the vote took place, given that she went into the meeting with former President Donald Trump’s endorsement and without a serious challenger.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) had launched a bid, but it failed to gain traction. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), who serves as vice chair of the House GOP Conference, was also reportedly interested in the role, but did not end up pursuing a challenge.

Stefanik was the victor with 134 votes to Roy’s 46. Three other votes were cast for three different GOP lawmakers, and nine members voted “present.” (Read more from “Liz Cheney Officially Replaced” HERE)

Dr. Fauci: Children Still Have To Wear Masks

Unvaccinated children still need to wear masks when playing with friends, especially while indoors, Dr. Anthony Fauci insisted Friday.

The recommendation from the country’s top infectious disease expert came just hours after the CDC eased its mask guidance for fully vaccinated Americans, saying they can stop wearing masks and practicing social distancing in most settings.

But Fauci said in his first interview following Thursday’s announcement that youngsters should continue to take precautions such as wearing a mask to protect themselves against COVID-19.

“The children do when they’re out there playing with their friends, particularly in an indoor situation, they do,” Fauci told CNN Thursday. (Read more from “Dr. Fauci: Children Still Have To Wear Masks” HERE)

Poll: Vaccinated People Far Less Likely To Engage In Public Activities Than Unvaccinated Americans

Vaccinated Americans are far less likely to engage in public activities than people who have not yet received the coronavirus vaccine, according to a new Morning Consult poll.

A survey of 879 vaccinated American adults and 1,321 unvaccinated adults found that those who were not inoculated against COVID-19 were much more likely to want to return to normal and engage in public activities. Morning Consult gauged the interest in both groups in returning to public activities, including going to the gym, taking a train, going to a party, attending a concert, going to a wedding, traveling abroad, and going on a cruise. In every possible scenario, the respondents that were not vaccinated were more inclined to participate in these public activities and events.

According to the poll, 43% of unvaccinated people felt it was safe to go to the gym versus only 27% of vaccinated Americans given the current state of the coronavirus pandemic. There were 42% of unvaccinated respondents who would attend a concert compared to 23% of vaccinated. When it comes to attending a sporting event, 42% of unvaccinated are ready to go to the ballpark, and 29% of vaccinated would go to the stadium to support their favorite sports team. There were 54% of vaccinated participants ready to get back to dating, while 43% of respondents were prepared to look for love despite being vaccinated for COVID-19. Speaking of love, there were 50% of unvaccinated people who felt comfortable attending a wedding, but just 38% of Americans who are vaccinated would go to a wedding. The poll found that 45% of unvaccinated people would attend a religious gathering versus 35% of those who were vaccinated.

How Palm Beach Is Preparing For A Possible Trump Indictment; Florida Officials Are Preparing ‘Contingency Plans’

By Politico. Law enforcement officials in Palm Beach County, Fla., have actively prepared for the possibility that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance could indict former President Donald Trump while he’s at Mar-a-Lago, according to two high-ranking county officials involved in planning sessions.

Among the topics discussed in those meetings: how to handle the thorny extradition issues that could arise if an indictment moves forward.

An obscure clause in Florida’s statute on interstate extradition gives Gov. Ron Desantis the ability to intervene and even investigate whether an indicted “person ought to be surrendered” to law enforcement officials from another state — which means that as Mar-a-Lago prepares to close down for the season and Trump relocates to Bedminster, N.J., it isn’t just the Florida heat he’s leaving behind: He could lose a key piece of political protection.

“The statute leaves room for interpretation that the governor has the power to order a review and potentially not comply with the extradition notice,” says Joe Abruzzo, clerk of the Circuit Court of Palm Beach County, the official who would be in charge of opening a potential fugitive-at-large case. Florida Officials Are Preparing ‘Contingency Plans’ For A Trump Indictment From New York, Report Says

By Business Insider. As the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump enters its final stages, officials in Florida are preparing for “thorny extradition issues that could arise” from a statute in the Sunshine State, Politico Playbook first reported on Thursday.

Two officials involved in the “contingency plans” told Politico that law-enforcement personnel in Palm Beach County were looking at what to do if Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.’s investigation results in an indictment while Trump is at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. . .

If Trump were indicted while in New Jersey, extradition issues could prove less tricky because the state is led by Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, who would likely be less sympathetic to the one-term president.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that his perceived political foes are out to get him after his presidency and has expressed concern about several ongoing federal and state criminal investigations into his financial dealings. Insider previously reported that Trumpworld was largely shrugging off the Justice Department’s investigation into the Capitol riot but saw more danger in Vance’s inquiry and a separate investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia.

The New York investigation is examining whether the Trump Organization violated state laws when it facilitated hush-money payments to the adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Trump in 2006. Vance’s office secured a major victory earlier this year when the Supreme Court cleared the way for it to obtain Trump’s closely held tax returns. Let’s Make a Deal: Biden Meets With GOP to Talk ‘Compromise’ on $2.3T Spend Plan

President Biden on Thursday met with six Senate Republicans to discuss possible compromise on his proposed $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill.

Biden hosted the top Republicans on relevant committees a day after he hosted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for the first time.

“I’m prepared to compromise,” said Biden, who was joined by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

“We’ll see if we can work out some — on a compromise on infrastructure. And I know they’re sincere about it, so am I. And what we’re going to try to do is figure out what we can — what constitutes infrastructure from … our perspectives and then see whether or not we’re in a position that — how, how much we want to fund it above the baseline, the baseline meaning what we spent last year,” Biden said. Cruise Line Foolishly Threatens to Boycott Florida Over Vaccine Passports

The rampant and prolonged COVID-19 shutdowns have imposed economic distress on countless individuals and businesses through no choice of their own, but some corporations are inflicting the pains of coronavirus regulations needlessly on themselves. Norwegian Cruise Line is threatening to be one such company.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation on May 3 to ban the requirement of “vaccine passports” in the state, following an April executive order with the same purpose. “In Florida, your personal choice regarding vaccinations will be protected and no business or government entity will be able to deny you services based on your decision,” DeSantis said at the signing. The bill authorizes a fine of up to $5,000 against any business, government entity, or educational institution in violation. . .

Frank Del Rio, the CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, suggested in an earnings call last week that the cruise line may suspend its use of ports in the Sunshine State. “God forbid we can’t operate in the state of Florida for whatever reason, then there are other states that we do operate from,” Del Rio said. “We can operate from the Caribbean for a ship that otherwise would have gone to Florida.” . . .

In the same press conference, DeSantis made it clear he was not concerned about Del Rio’s threat. “Norwegian’s not one of the big ones,” he noted, adding that other cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival are “ready to go.”

“Cruise lines have been operating in other parts of the world where there’s no access to the vaccine,” DeSantis continued. If cruise lines like Norwegian don’t want to follow state laws, “that niche will get filled in Florida.” (Read more from “Cruise Line Foolishly Threatens to Boycott Florida Over Vaccine Passports” HERE)

CDC Changes Guidelines AGAIN for Fully Vaccinated

Fully vaccinated people can ditch their masks and ignore physical distancing both outdoors and indoors, the Biden administration said Thursday in a dramatic shift for a federal team that has been panned as overly cautious and a drag on the return to normal life.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said more than one-third of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated and protected from the coronavirus, so they can to start doing the things they gave up more than a year ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today is a great day for America in our long battle with the coronavirus,” a maskless President Biden said from the White House Rose Garden. “I think it’s a great milestone.”

Relaxed mask rules do not apply to health care settings — such as hospitals or doctor’s offices — or in homeless shelters or jails. And masks still will be required on means of public transportation such as planes, trains and buses. (Read more from “CDC Changes Guidelines AGAIN for Fully Vaccinated ” HERE)

University Accused Of Violating Free Exercise Clause With Vaccine Mandate

The University of Alabama-Birmingham has been accused in a letter from First Liberty Institute of violating the Constitution’s requirement protecting free exercise of religion because it grants other exemptions from its vaccine requirements for students, but not for religious students.

“UAB’s policy triggers, and subsequently fails, strict scrutiny under recent Supreme Court precedent interpreting the Free Exercise Clause,” explained a letter from the institute. “In addition, UAB’s immunization policy impermissibly burdens Gale’s religious exercise under the Alabama Religious Freedom Amendment. To conform with both state and federal legal protections, UAB should provide Gale, and other students like her with religious objections to UAB’s mandated vaccines, a religious exemption to its immunization policy.”

The letter to the school was on behalf of Jackie Gale, a sophomore at the school who previously was allowed to register and attend classes without meeting the school’s vaccine requirement policy.

The vaccines at issue are not COVID vaccines.

At issue are vaccinations for “Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (which would require two MMR shots), Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (requiring one Tdap shot), Chickenpox/Shingles (requiring two VZVIgG shots), Meningitis (requiring one Menactra, Menveo, or Mennomune shot), as well as proof that she underwent a Tuberculosis screening.” (Read more from “University Accused Of Violating Free Exercise Clause With Vaccine Mandate” HERE)

It’s Time For Christians To Stand Up And Proclaim We Will Never Stop Worshipping

Last weekend the world saw a fearless man of God, Pastor Artur Pawlowski, arrested for leading a church service. This faithful pastor, who escaped the iron fist of communist rule in Poland as a child, was handcuffed on the streets of Canada and thrown in jail for refusing to shutter his church.

Not too long ago, this shocking display of repression would be unheard of in the western world. But over the last year, government efforts to curtail our freedom to worship have become all too common, and it has uncovered an uncomfortable problem in our church. . .

We cannot stop praying! We must not stop worshipping! For 2,000 years the Christian church has gathered, prayed, and worshipped through pandemics and persecution. And I believe that is the call of today.

The church is ready for a revival. Since pandemic orders locked down our communities more than a year ago, I’ve worshipped with hundreds of thousands of believers in 87 cities, and have witnessed a rising revival across America. We will not be stopped.

The church will no longer be pressured by the world into hiding our light under a bushel. We won’t be cowered by politicians to forsake our mission to gather, pray, and worship the God who saved us.
