Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers might be going for the legal jugular in the ongoing fight between the Biden Justice Department and the former president over classified information seized from his Mar-a-Lago home on Aug. 8. . .

The latest motion filed by Trump’s legal team seeks to further block the Justice Department from reviewing the documents. It also brought the heat in their 21-page filing that torched the legal justification for the FBI’s raid and the seizure of documents from the property (via The Guardian):

Lawyers for Donald Trump asked a federal judge on Monday to deny the justice department’s request to regain access to some documents the FBI seized from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort and restart the criminal investigation into his unauthorized retention of government documents.

The response from the Trump legal team reiterated that it wanted a so-called special master to review all of the seized materials, asking the judge to uphold her earlier order barring prosecutors from using the documents in a criminal investigation until the process was complete.

But in the 21-page filing, Trump’s lawyers interpreted the Presidential Records Act in sometimes unusual ways, and accused the justice department of criminalizing what they considered a dispute between Trump and the National Archives about how documents should be handled.

Montana Health Officials: Individuals Cannot Change Biological Sex on Birth Certificate

Montana health officials have adopted a new rule that individuals cannot change their biological sex on a birth certificate even if they undergo sexual reassignment surgery.

The new rule comes after a judge temporarily struck down a similar law in April, which the state restored in May, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

The initial law had a provision that allowed individuals to change their sex on a birth certificate following a sex reassignment procedure. That law was passed by the Montana legislature and signed by Gov. Greg Gianfore (R) in 2021

On Friday, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) changed that provision of the law, stating that individuals cannot change their sex on a birth certificate unless under a rare circumstance – such as a data entry error.

Buttigieg ‘Interested’ in California Ban on New Gas Cars as He Weighs ‘a National Policy’

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg remarked on Friday that he is “interested” in an upcoming California ban on new gas-powered cars as the Biden administration weighs nationwide electric vehicle policies.

Last month, the California Air Resources Board issued new rules requiring 35% of new vehicles to produce zero emissions by 2026 — a standard that will progressively rise to 100% by 2035. During an interview with Fox 11 Los Angeles, Buttigieg argued that a rapid transition to electric cars is required to effectively combat climate change.

“It’s interesting to see how the states are trying to go above and beyond what we’re doing at the federal level,” Buttigieg commented. “I’m really interested in these developments, while we continue to set a national policy that’s the baseline for all of this. We need to move in the direction of electric vehicles.”

California unveiled the new benchmarks days before the Golden State requested that residents lower energy usage during peak hours in the interest of averting power grid failure. Among other actions, officials asked that citizens refrain from charging electric vehicles. Prominent policymakers and industry leaders, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, have warned that the rushed adoption of renewable energy solutions could induce economic harm. Hillary Clinton Uses ‘State of the Union’ 9/11 Appearance to Sing Biden’s Praises as He Attacks Republicans

Hillary Clinton claims she’s not running for president again, key word “claims.” She still finds herself in the news, though, including for her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.” During that segment, which took place on September 11, she used such a platform to not just applaud President Joe Biden for attacking his political opponents, but did the same thing herself, choosing to even take it a step further than he did.

Host Dana Bash began the segment by discussing how the country came together 21 years ago on the September 11 attacks, when Clinton was a U.S. Senator from New York.

As part of her very first response, when asked about that day, Clinton pointed out that “we have also, I think, been reminded about how important it is to try to deal with extremism of any kind, especially when it uses violence to try to achieve political and ideological goals.”

Biden Tells Americans They ‘Owe It’ to 9/11 Victims, Insisting the U.S. Needs to Be More United Despite Attacking Trump Supporters

By Townhall. Joe Biden pushed Americans once again to stand up for democracy on the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

He told the crowd that Americans “owe it” to the victims of 9/11 to defend democracy.

“We have an obligation, a duty, a responsibility to defend, preserve and protect our democracy… the very democracy that defends the right to freedom that those terrorists on 9/11 sough to bury in the burning fire and smoke and ash. And that takes a commitment on the part of all of us,” Biden said.

This comes 10 days after the president called not only former President Trump, but his supporters a “threat to democracy.”

LOL: Kamala Harris Claims the Border Is ‘Secure’

Vice President Kamala Harris assured that the U.S.-Mexico border is “secure” during a “Meet the Press” interview released Sunday.

The vice president told NBC News host Chuck Todd that the “border is secure” and pointed fingers at former President Donald Trump’s administration for the currently “broken immigration system.”

“There is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do. The first request we made:pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship. The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system and particular[ly] over the last four years before we came in and it needs to be fixed.”

Migrant apprehension numbers have nearly doubled since President Joe Biden assumed office in January 2021. As of July, Border Patrol agents encountered 1.9 million migrants at the southern border in the fiscal-year-to-date (FYTD) 2022, which begins in October, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Agents apprehended 199,976 migrants in July, slightly fewer than the 207,933 that arrived in June. In 2021, 1.73 million migrants in total were apprehended at the border. Too Much Screen Time Is Turning Our Kids Into Boring Beasts

We’ve known for a long time that kids and screens are a bad combination. Anxiety, attention problems, depression, eye pain, neck pain and so on come with spending your life online. But the pandemic hit, and our phones, tablets and laptops became our lifeline to the world.

So you let your kid on TikTok to learn all the dances. And all their friends were being puppies on Snapchat, and you didn’t want yours to be left out. They played video games together, they bonded over breaking beds and trading pets. They called each other “sus” — suspicious — and tried to find the imposter. It was a moment.

But now your child can’t function without a phone, and you’re not sure what to do.

CNN Contributor Dean Obeidallah Marks 9/11 by Comparing Trump, MAGA to Bin Laden, Terrorists

Left-wing radio host and CNN contributor Dean Obeidallah commemorated the 9/11 terror attacks with several posts equating former President Donald Trump and “MAGA” Republicans with the Islamic terrorists behind the deadly 2001 attacks.

Marking the 21st anniversary of the September 11 attacks that saw Islamic terrorists kill nearly 3,000 Americans, left-wing commentator Dean Obeidallah posted a series of tweets comparing the former president and his supporters to al-Qaeda and then-leader Osama bin Laden. . .

In another post, he compared the former president’s right to “freely travel” in the United States to granting that same right to al-Qaeda founder Bin Laden.

“Take a moment and imagine if after 9/11, Bin Laden were allowed to freely travel America, spewing lies in an effort to radicalize more people to commit violence in his name?!” he wrote. 9/11 Hijackers Overstayed Visas, Remained in U.S. Thanks to Loophole Now Used by 685K Illegal Aliens

Seven of the 19 Islamic terrorists who hijacked commercial planes on September 11, 2001 (9/11), killing nearly 3,000 Americans, remained in the United States after overstaying their visas thanks to a wide-open loophole that continues to allow about 685,000 illegal aliens to stay in the U.S.

In total, all 19 terrorists arrived legally in the U.S. as 16 secured tourist visas and three obtained business and student visas. Eventually, on September 11, the terrorists executed attacks in New York City, New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania that killed 2,977 Americans and have since left thousands more Americans dead with illnesses related to the attacks.

Seven of the 19 terrorists overstayed their visas either before the attacks or at the time of the attacks. Despite U.S. immigration law requiring their detainment and potential deportation, none were detained or deported. . .

Nawaf al-Hamzi, specifically, was able to obtain driver’s licenses in California, Florida, and Virginia. Nawaf al-Hamzi, along with his terrorist brother, Salem al-Hamzi — who obtained a Virginia driver’s license — arrived in the U.S. on tourist visas in 1999 from Saudi Arabia. Putin Faces Backlash From Russian Bloggers Amid Retreat: ‘Horrible Failure’

Russian President Vladimir Putin is facing backlash from pro-Kremlin bloggers amid his military’s “horrible failure” in Ukraine.

Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine on February 24, banking on his vast military to propel him to a quick victory. However, Ukraine met his troops with a stronger-than-expected defense effort, bolstered by aid from allies including the United States. In recent days, Ukraine has ramped up counteroffensives in Russian-occupied territory, allowing Kyiv to make massive gains more than six months into the conflict.

Ukraine launched a surprise counteroffensive in the areas around Kharkiv, the country’s second largest city. In recent days, Ukrainian forces seized control of key cities such as Izyum and Kupyansk, forcing Russian soldiers to retreat as experts see Ukraine building momentum.

Despite worldwide condemnation due to alleged human-rights abuses committed by the Russian military and a lack of justification for the war, many in Russia rallied around Putin. However, these Ukrainian victories have seen some hardline pro-Russia bloggers, who for months cheered on the Russian leader’s invasion, turn on him.
