Study Shows More Alaskans Want Out Than Any Other State’s Residents

Population data from the latest U.S. Census counted in 2019 which is the latest available, compared to the data of 2018, shows Alaska losing a higher percentage of residents than any other state in the nation.

There was a population change of almost 6,000 people, or a loss of .8 percent. Zippia, a website resource for job-seekers, compiled the study that points out that their studies show that it has less to do with the uniquely Alaskan climate and natural challenges and more to do with the economy. As students graduate college, they tend not to be retained at a high enough rate to replace those who moved to Alaska during the oil boom 40 years ago, who are also retiring to move somewhere warmer. Serial Killer in Fairbanks, Alaska? Eight Missing

“I don’t think it would be too much, given the circumstances and the fear that our community is in, to call in the F.B.I., who have additional resources, funding, that might be available to work with troopers and Fairbanks Police on [a] task force,” community leader, Jody Potts said during the vigil. “But that ask has to come from local authorities. And so we are asking that you call in the F.B.I. to work with these families and on these cases.”

Acting Fairbanks Police Chief Rick Sweet says the Fairbanks Police Department is already speaking with the F.B.I. about these missing person cases but would need to talk to law enforcement partners before calling agents to come to investigate locally. Alaska Health Care Worker Hospitalized After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine; State to Consider ‘Historical Injustice’ in Setting Vaccine Distribution Order

By NY Times. A health care worker in Alaska had a serious allergic reaction after getting Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, symptoms that emerged within minutes and required an overnight hospital stay.

The middle-aged worker had no history of allergies, but had an anaphylactic reaction that began 10 minutes after receiving the vaccine at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, a hospital official said. She experienced a rash over her face and torso, shortness of breath and an elevated heart rate.

Dr. Lindy Jones, the hospital’s emergency department medical director, said the worker was first given a shot of epinephrine, a standard treatment for severe allergic reactions. State to Consider ‘Historical Injustice’ in Setting Vaccine Distribution Order

By Washington Examiner. California may include “historical injustice” as a factor in determining the distribution of coronavirus vaccines, a sign of social justice considerations entering the public health effort.

The idea was first introduced to California’s Community Vaccine Advisory Committee on Nov. 25 by Virginia Hedrick, according to NPR.

Hedrick is executive director of the California Consortium for Urban Indian Health. A member of the Yurok Tribe, she pointed out that Native Americans are 4 times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19 and twice as likely to die from it than white people.

Trump Administration Denies Permit for Pebble Mine

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has denied a permit for the Pebble Mine on Wednesday, likely dealing a lethal blow to the controversial project in Alaska’s Bristol Bay.

The decision on the proposed gold and copper mine is a victory for environmentalists, Native American groups, and the state’s commercial fishing industry, all of which opposed the project.

In a statement, the Corps said it “determined that the applicant’s plan for the discharge of fill material does not comply with Clean Water Act guidelines and concluded that the proposed project is contrary to the public interest.”

Opponents had argued the open-pit mine would leach sediment into nearby waters, harming the state’s salmon population while scarring pristine wilderness.

“Sometimes a project is so bad, so indefensible, that the politics fall to the wayside and we get the right decision. That is what happened today,” Tim Bristol, executive director of SalmonState, which promotes Alaska’s salmon industry, said in a statement. Alaska Approves Ranked-Choice Voting

Alaskans voted for ranked-choice voting in statewide elections, according to The Washington Examiner.

Roughly 50 percent of Alaskans voted for the measure that will enable Alaskans to rank their choices of candidates from most favorable to least favorable, according to The Washington Examiner. Starting in 2022, the top four political candidates in the state will advance to the general election.

If one candidate receives more than half of first-choice votes, the candidate wins, Fox News reported. If a candidate does not receive over half of the votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, Fox News reported. The votes that ranked the eliminated candidates as the first choice would go to the second choice until a candidate receives over half of Alaskans’ votes, according to Fox News. Trump Wins Alaska, Decision Desk HQ Projects

Decision Desk HQ called Alaska for President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning, awarding him the state’s three electoral votes on the outlet’s election map.

Decision Desk HQ is the first major outlet to award the state to Trump over Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. The call comes more than a week after election day on Nov. 3 and is one of the final states to be called by any major election decision desk. The state, which has elected an all-Republican congressional delegation, was widely expected to go to Trump despite significant delays in tallying its votes. . .

Decision Desk HQ declared Biden the winner of the presidential race over the weekend after projecting him to win Pennsylvania. A number of other major media companies followed suit, most after awarding the former vice president the state of Pennsylvania and pushing the Democratic candidate above 270 electoral votes on their election projection maps. Liberal Alaska Senate Candidate Falsely Claims He Never Backed Medicare for All (VIDEO)

Alaska Senate candidate Al Gross (I.) used to boast of being an “outspoken advocate” of single-payer health care, but now that he’s running for statewide office his position is that he “never” supported such a system.

“Some of you may know me as an outspoken advocate for a single-payer system in Alaska or national,” Gross said in 2017 at a public policy forum addressing health care. He also tweeted in 2018 that America needed “a Medicare for all type of health care system,” but last month when a questioner on Alaska Public Media read Gross his own words, he denied ever saying them.

“I never said that,” he told the radio audience. “I’ve never said that I support Medicare for All as a policy for America.”

But the tweet he was asked about is still posted on his Twitter.

Anchorage Mayor Resigns Over Sex Scandal

Anchorage, Alaska, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz resigned Tuesday, a day after apologizing for what he described as a “consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship,” with a local television anchor.

Berkowitz, 58, who is married, announced his resignation in a statement read by his chief of staff during a meeting of the Anchorage Assembly. The Democrat will remain mayor until Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.

“It is with profound sadness and humility that I resign as Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage,” the statement said, according to the Anchorage Daily News. “My resignation results from unacceptable personal conduct that has compromised my ability to perform my duties with the focus and trust that is required.” . . .

“I apologize to the people of Anchorage for a major lapse in judgment I made several years ago when I had a consensual, inappropriate messaging relationship with reporter Maria Athens,” Berkowitz wrote in a statement. “I’m embarrassed and ashamed for the hurt I’ve caused my family and our community. I take responsibility for my actions.”

Alaska Supreme Court Decrees Absentee Ballots Do Not Need to be Witnessed Because of Wuhan Flu

Alaska, already plagued by unprecedented vote fraud in past elections, has now been ordered by its Supreme Court to allow all absentee ballots to be cast without a witness signature. Yes, you read that right. Anyone can now fill out anyone’s ballot, place it in the mail and it will be counted, courtesy of an out-of-control judiciary. Assuming the post office actually delivers it, LOL.

Here’s the State’s press release, apparently written by the infamous Gail Fenumiai, head of Alaska’s Division of Elections:

The Alaska Supreme Court today agreed with the lower court that in light of the pandemic, for the 2020 general election only, voters do not need to get
their absentee ballots witnessed. In order for a person’s vote to count, voters must still sign the back of the absentee ballot envelope and provide the voter identifier, such as date of birth, driver’s license number, etc. The Division of Elections also recommends that voters date their signature on the back of the envelope. Normally, the witness would date their signature, but since there is no witness requirement, the voter is encouraged (but not required) to fill this information in.

There is also nothing prohibiting a voter from having their ballot witnessed, and any ballot that is witnessed will be counted, so long as it meets all the other statutory requirements, just as it would have been prior to the court’s order.

Looks like the hijacking of the American political experiment is just about complete. The left owns the media, the judiciary, most senior military leaders, the entertainment industry, federal law enforcement, the clandestine agencies, even most of Trump’s “inside” team. States like Alaska now seem to be conducting a “mop up” operation to ensure no resistance to the leftists’ coup.

Want to Travel Between Alaska and Canada? Think Again…

Editor’s note: a staff member at Restoring Liberty successfully traveled through Canada, last week. However, at the border with Alaska, the Canadian custom’s officer was exceptionally rude and hostile. His interrogation regarding the travel was aggressive. A black powder firearm (.50 caliber muzzleloader) and shotgun were disclosed with the proper forms at the outset and he asked incredulously, “Why in the world would you need a .50 caliber rifle for hunting?” When he asked about the shotgun and was told it was for bear defense since camping was the only way to sleep on the way through Canada, he yelled that if a bear were to be shot on the trip through Canada, the shooter would be sent to jail for a very long time. He then said that “even if you are being eaten, you let the bear kill you, you may not shoot a bear in Canada. Do you understand? You will let the bear eat you!” According to this staff member, who has traveled numerous times throughout Canada, she was treated as if she was a member of a hostile nation, bent on doing harm to Canada. Travelers beware.

In early July, 2020, we crossed into Canada at Wild Horse. Interesting experience. Encountered an angry, sullen Canadian Border Agent. He growled at Judy and I and asked a few COVID-19 questions and we told him where and why we were traveling to Alaska. As we have a business and I hold professional licenses in Alaska, we complied with the Canadian regulations on being allowed to travel through Canada. Therefore, after a short review, we were allowed to proceed north. We passed on into Alaska about 3 ½ days later. As we were in an RV, we had very little contact with anyone on our drive through Canada. Stayed in private RV parks.

On September 9 we closed and winterized our summer living quarters in Fairbanks and proceeded to drive toward the Alaska/Canadian border in our RV. We spent the night at a now closed fueling station a couple of miles from the Canadian border. While there we talked with hunters that were staying there and were told we had very little chance of being allowed to travel past Beaver Creek border station. Anyone with a permanent address in Alaska was being turned back. No idea why. Only Military with travel orders, commercial truckers and anyone moving out of Alaska was allowed to go south.

We had read the Canadian travel restrictions and it appeared we qualified to travel through Canada. Since we were only 20 miles from Beaver Creek we would give it a try. If we would have had any idea how we would be treated, we would never have proceeded.

When we got to the Beaver Creek Border station we were asked a few routine questions and we handed the Border agent our Passports and drivers licenses. After a short while we were asked to put on masks and come into the Boarder station. Never had to do that before in our 30 + trips over the Alaska Highway.

On entering the Station we observed that none of the Canadian Agents wore masks or face coverings, there was no social distancing, wearing of gloves or hand sanitizer visible. This was not a safe place from a COVID-19 perspective to be.

We were then treated like criminals and repeatedly interrogated. Told we were lying to the Agent. About what, we were not sure. The Agent had a report of our crossing the Wild Horse border. No idea what that Agent had put in his report.

We were asked where we were headed and we told him Rapid City, SD. Then he wanted to know how we were employed in Alaska. Any attempt to explain that I do not have an 8-5 job and I oversee the work of highly skilled technicians, and analyze survey work for a Major Construction Contractor in Fairbanks. All appeared to fall on deaf ears.

Some of the questions asked were very strange. Wanted to know why we had our dog with us. Was the dog required for my work? We were asked for pictures of both our living quarters in Fairbanks and Rapid City. In our opinion, much of what was asked had nothing to do with our potential travel in Canada.

It has to be noted, we were never asked a single (zero) question about our health or COVID-19.

No concern was given that traveling south in our RV was by far the safest way for us to travel. Our other options were to take the Whitter Ferry or fly. Ferry was not an option as it was already booked through November. Other option was to fly. Both options placed us around many people of unknown health status

We were of no threat to the Canadian’s as we were self-contained in our RV. All we had to do was to purchase fuel and stay in private RV parks where we could legally walk the dog. Depending on roads and weather, we would be across the border into Montana sometime on the 4th day.

I think the goal was to make us angry. In that the agent was a failure. We just wanted to get out of there, either north or south.

All this could have been over in a few minutes. We were there over an hour. It is now apparent to us that we were to be sent back to Alaska because of our permanent business address. The fact that we have no winter living quarters in Alaska meant nothing. No reason to go through the “dog and pony show”. When permitted we got our passports and drivers licenses back and proceeded to drive the 300 miles back to Fairbanks. Got airline reservations as soon as we could fly with our dog, winterized our RV, and proceeded to return to Denver. Takes some planning, as you cannot fly a dog into Rapid City.

We were told not to return to Canada until all COVID-19 restrictions were lifted or we would be arrested. Not sure what that had to do with anything as it appeared that no one in the Canadian Border Station was the least bit concerned about anyone’s health.

We had a friendly chat with the Alaska Border Agent. He told us 50% of all east bound traffic through there was being turned back. He did not know the reason.

The sad part here is that we will never view Canada again the same. Do not want to repeat this experience. I suspect the other people being sent back will feel much the same.

The other observation we have made is that the economic effect on the businesses along the Alaska Highway that depend on tourist traffic for their survival has to be considered almost criminal. What happens when they close and there are no longer any places to purchase fuel, etc.?

This appears to be a lesson in what happens when technocrats make the rules to live by.
