NCAA Swimmer Wants Rule Change After Missing Out on Finals to Transgender Athlete

A Virginia Tech swimmer blasted the NCAA over its rule allowing transgender women to compete against biological women after she came up short in a championship qualifying race that was dominated by University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

Reka Gyorgy leveled the criticism in a post to her private Instagram account after missing the cut on Thursday to compete in the finals of the 500 free at the NCAA Championships, Fox News reported.

“It doesn’t promote our sport in a good way and I think it is disrespectful against the biologically female swimmers who are competing in the NCAA,” Gyorgy said of the rule that has received considerable scrutiny since Thomas has smashed records in [his] first season competing at the collegiate level as a transgender woman.

Gyorgy also placed blame on Thomas for her failure to qualify. The Virginia Tech swimmer said she felt the last spot to get into the final was taken from her “because of the NCAA’s decision to let someone who is not a biological female compete.”

Thomas finished with a 4:33.82 in the preliminaries and ultimately took home the national women’s 500 free title when [he] won the finals race with a time of 4:33.24. (Read more from “NCAA Swimmer Wants Rule Change After Missing Out on Finals to Transgender Athlete” HERE)

Kanye West Pulled From Grammy’s Due to ‘Concerning Online Behavior’

Kanye West has been barred from performing at the Grammy Awards on April 3 due to his “concerning online behavior,” his rep told The Blast.

Even though the 44-year-old rapper has been nominated for five Grammys including best rap song for “Jail” and Album of the Year for “Donda,” his team received a phone call Friday saying he won’t be able to perform, The Blast reported.

The decision was partly made after West was suspended from Instagram for using a racial slur against Trevor Noah, the host of the Grammys, after the TV presenter commented on the rapper’s public interactions with Kim Kardashian, West’s ex-wife, according to The Blast. Mom Blames Transgender Agenda for Daughter’s Suicide

A bereaved mother whose daughter died at the age of 19 by stepping in front of a barreling train in Los Angeles is blaming her local school district’s transgender agenda for the death.

Abigail Martinez explained in an interview with the Daily Mail that her daughter was depressed, having been engulfed in confusion over her sexuality and gender for several years.

The school, which had been sued by the Barack Obama administration for allegedly discriminating against a transgender boy, instead of helping with a treatment for depression, referred the girl to LGBT clubs, told her not to talk to her mother, and essentially promoted transgenderism to her, the mother explained.

“I knew that the hormones wouldn’t work,” she said. “She was taken away from my house because they wanted to save her life. My question to all of them is where is my daughter now? Why did they play with her life?”

The daughter was convinced by LGBT activists to insist she be called Andrew Martinez, not Yaeli Galdamez, the report explains, and died Sept. 4, 2019. A court case has been filed over her death. (Read more from “Mom Blames Transgender Agenda for Daughter’s Suicide” HERE)

Emma Weyant Praised as ‘Real Winner’ After Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas Takes First

The University of Virginia’s Emma Weyant was praised as the “real winner” after she came in second to biologically male transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championship 500 yard freestyle on Thursday. . .

A Virginia Tech swimmer on Thursday spoke out publicly after her teammate was crushed by the “inclusion” of Thomas.

“I’ve got a teammate who did not make the final today because she was just bumped out of finals,” the collegiate swimmer told Rapid Fire’s Savanah Hernandez. “It’s heartbreaking to see someone who went through puberty as a male and has the body of a male be able to absolutely blow away the competition.” (Read more from “Emma Weyant Praised as ‘Real Winner’ After Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas Takes First” HERE)

Most Cities’ Responses to Homelessness Actually Enable Even More Homelessness

. . .Housing First is the philosophy that every unhoused person has a right to subsidized, permanent housing without any participation requirements such as treatment for or recovery from a severe mental illness or a substance use disorder. In contrast, a treatment-and-recovery approach would seek to shelter those suffering from homelessness while providing them the individualized treatment they need in order to one day maintain a home of their own.

Utah is in a similar situation to L.A. In recent years, Utah and specifically Salt Lake City were lauded by the media for dramatically reducing their chronically homeless population by implementing a Housing First policy.

But a 2021 state audit reveals that the city and the entire state continue to struggle with growing homelessness. “Although the state’s funding for homeless services has increased, the number of homeless individuals in Utah has also continued to grow,” reads the report. Unsheltered homelessness in Utah has tripled since 2016.

The audit reports that Salt Lake County needs $525 million to provide housing to people experiencing homelessness, and taxpayers’ costs will only grow since most people never move out of subsidized housing into more independent living: “Because few residents move on to more independent forms of housing, few new spaces are made available in the existing facilities.” The top reason the audit lists for residents not moving on is because they “choose not to address the mental illness or substance abuse issues that led them to homelessness.”

Here we get to the crux of the matter: Housing First fails because it does not address the typical root causes of homelessness – namely, severe mental illness and substance use disorders that go unaddressed. Money dedicated to Housing First initiatives is making an already bad problem worse. (Read more from “Most Cities’ Responses to Homelessness Actually Enable Even More Homelessness” HERE)

Majority of American Parents Do Not Believe the Bible Is God’s Word

A new survey led by evangelical researcher George Barna shows that only 40% of US parents consider the Bible to be “God’s accurate word for humanity,” the Christian Post (CP) reports.

“Shockingly few parents intentionally speak to their children about beliefs and behavior based upon a biblical worldview,” Barna said in a statement about the survey results. . .

The survey showed that 67% of the participant parents identified as Christians, but only 2% subscribed to a biblical worldview as defined by researchers and “emerges from accepting the Bible as a relevant and authoritative guide for life,” CP reports. Marvel Denounces Florida’s So-Called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill

Marvel Studios is speaking out against Florida’s controversial HB 1557 “Parental Rights In Education Bill,” which critics have dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill despite the measure not including that word in the text.

Marvel’s statement against the bill, which passed the Florida senate Tuesday, echoes what other entertainment corporations including Disney have said publicly about the bill. . .

The bill is being called discriminatory and dangerous, however many critics and even news outlets are misrepresenting the provisions within the text. In reality, HB 1557 bans teachers from discussing topics related to sexual orientation or gender identity with students in elementary school from kindergarten until after third grade. It does not ban students from discussing those topics.

Ron DeSantis has signaled that he supports the bill. (Read more from “Marvel Denounces Florida’s So-Called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill” HERE)

Major Company to Cover Travel Expenses for Employees Seeking an Abortion

American multinational investment bank Citigroup Inc., known as Citi, will reportedly cover travel expenses for U.S.-based employees seeking an abortion.

“In response to changes in reproductive healthcare laws in certain states in the U.S., beginning in 2022 we provide travel benefits to facilitate access to adequate resources,” Citi wrote in a filing for its shareholders meetings scheduled April 26.

Axios reported that the policy will cover travel expenses, including airfare and lodging, for staff who travel out-of-state to obtain an abortion. This comes as several states enact laws restricting access to abortion and as the Supreme Court weighs a case that could overturn the precedents set by Roe v. Wade.

‘The move [Citi’s policy] comes after Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) signed legislation last year that banned abortion after six weeks, making it one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the U.S.,” Axios noted. As I covered, Idaho lawmakers passed legislation this week mirroring the law in their state. The bill is headed to Republican Gov. Brad Little’s desk.
