Supreme Court Overturns Another Abortion Ruling

On Monday, the Supreme Court vacated a federal appeals court ruling that upheld a minor’s right to seek court permission for an abortion without parental notification.

The Supreme Court’s decision was issued because it believed the previous decision was moot following the Dobbs ruling in June of last year. The Dobbs ruling overturned Roe v. Wade and ended the federal constitutional right to abortion.

The case before the justices concerned a 17-year-old in Missouri who asked a court for permission to terminate a pregnancy without notifying her parents, as required by state law. The lower court clerk told the girl that her parents would be notified despite her wishes. After traveling to Illinois for the procedure, she sued, arguing that the court trampled her constitutional rights. . .

The Supreme Court’s ruling directs the appeals court to vacate the judgment in the Missouri case and declare it moot. The ruling will have no practical effect in Missouri, which currently has one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, with no exemptions for rape or incest. The procedure is only permissible to save the pregnant person’s life or prevent severe damage to their health. Insanity: Maren Morris Tells Tennessee to ‘F—— Arrest’ Her After Introducing Her Toddler to Drag Queens

Maren Morris, a Texas-born country star, told the state of Tennessee to arrest her during a speech at a pro-LGBTQ concert just weeks after the state announced a ban on drag shows near schools.

“And yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f—— arrest me,” Morris said Tuesday in the headline-making clip, winning her praise from The Washington Post, Variety, and a host of other liberal media outlets.

Morris said her son, at just two-years-old, was excited to meet drag queens.

“I brought my son here earlier today for soundcheck, and he’s turning three this week, and we got to go in the room where all the queens were getting ready and doing their makeup. And he freaked out when he went in there because it’s just magic what drag queens do,” Morris explained, according to Variety. . .

Morris’ speech comes just weeks after Tennessee became the first state to pass legislation banning drag shows on public property and near schools. Transgender Female Takes First Place in Women’s Cycling Event; Contestants in Second Place, Third Place Are All Smiles

A transgender female took first place in a women’s cycling event in New York City over the weekend, the National Desk reported.

Tiffany Thomas — a member of the Los Angeles-based women’s cycling group L.A. Sweat — stood atop the middle podium as the winner of the Randall’s Island Crit, the outlet said.

Biological Man Caught in Women’s YMCA Locker Room Doubles Down on Comparing Self to Lynching Victim

Christynne Wood, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, has once again compared objections to male use of female changing facilities to the lynching of Emmett Till.

A 17-year-old girl allegedly saw Wood naked in a women’s YMCA locker room in December, and her complaint sparked protests over the institution’s policy of allowing transgender people to use facilities according to their gender identity. Wood described the experience in a Sunday op-ed in the San Diego Union-Tribune, comparing it to the 1955 lynching of 15-year-old Emmett Till, who was killed by a mob after a white woman accused him of inappropriate behavior.

“Please understand that the words of a white girl are taken so seriously by our society that they have led to the beating and lynching of people of color, such as Emmett Till in 1955, and this reality is always in the mind of people of color,” Wood wrote. . .

“I don’t know what’s in the mind of that child,” Wood told the Times of San Diego. “So there’s a movie out right now about how that kind of a lie and hysteria can lead to tragedy … The movie’s called ‘Till’ about Emmett Till. The lies of a person got that child beat to death and that’s just the kind of group [here] that would love to pull a stunt like that.”

Rebecca Phillips, the 17-year old girl who had reportedly seen Wood naked in the women’s facilities, said she was showering at the YMCA when she saw a naked male in the women’s locker room. Study Finds a Bidirectional Link Between Same-Sex Attraction and Psychological Distress

A new study published in Behavior Genetics provides evidence of a bidirectional relationship between same-sex attraction and psychological distress. The findings indicate that experiencing attraction to people of the same sex can result in higher levels of depression and anxiety, but this relationship goes both ways – psychological distress can also result in an increase in sexuality-related stress.

Research has demonstrated that individuals who are sexually attracted to people of the same sex tend to experience higher levels of psychological distress, including depressive symptoms and anxiety, compared to those who are exclusively heterosexual. But most of the research on this topic has been cross-sectional, which limits its ability to draw conclusions about causality. The authors of the new study sought to help fill this gap in the literature.

“I started out investigating the mental health of lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals in Nigeria,” said study author Olakunle Oginni, a postdoctoral research associate at King’s College London and lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University.

“This was because there was little research on LGB Nigerians’ mental health despite the wide recognition of higher mental health difficulties among LGB individuals. I developed expertise in the twin design during my PhD and used this method to show that the association between sexual orientation and mental health is not due to overlapping genetic influences. The present study is significant because it demonstrates how being LGB can ’cause’ psychological distress (anxiety and depressive symptoms), and potential mechanisms for this effect.”

The study analyzed data from the UK Twins Early Development Study, a large twin cohort investigating genetic and environmental factors that shape individual differences in cognitive and learning abilities, behavior, and emotions. The data analyzed in the current study were collected in two phases between June 2017 and February 2019. The final sample comprised 9,697 and 8,718 individuals from the first and second phases, respectively. The average age of the participants during this wave of data collection was 22.3 years. Reddit User Asks if He Was Wrong to Demand His ‘Conservative’ Father Respect His New Stepson’s ‘Pronouns’

A man has taken to Reddit’s AITA (“Am I the A—–e”) community to ask if he’s wrong for making a demand of his own father regarding gender pronouns.

In a post titled, “AITA for demanding my father respect my stepson’s pronouns?” a Redditor who goes by the name “Dad-that-stepped-up” wrote that he recently married an “absolutely wonderful woman” — and in the process, gained “an even more wonderful son.”

His stepson “Cole” — the Redditor said he changed the child’s name for the post — identifies as “non-binary,” the man said and uses the “they/he pronouns.”

The Redditor wrote that he himself “of course [has] no issue with this” and supports his new son fully, as does the boy’s mother and “most of the family.”

Pastor Arrested Again for Protesting Drag Queen Storytime

A Canadian pastor was arrested for the second time this month as he protested a drag queen storytime event for kids at a public library.

Derek Reimer, 36, of Alberta, was taken into custody on Wednesday for breaching release orders from his previous arrest that prohibited him from being within 200 meters of events involving the LGBTQ community, Calgary Police said.

Video of the arrest outside Calgary’s Signal Hill Library shows officers pulling Reimer, who refuses to walk, as the pastor’s supporters condemn them and call for his release.

The pastor remained silent throughout the arrest.

‘Drag Story Hour’ Draws Over 100 Protesters, Cops, Even NYC Council Guards

State Attorney General Letitia James’ “Drag Story Hour” drew more than 100 protesters from all sides Sunday — forcing cops and even City Council security guards to the raucous Manhattan scene.

The event at The Center, an LGBTQA community facility on West 13th Street in Greenwich Village, had already drawn fire from critics who griped about using tax dollars to have drag performers read stories to children at various Big Apple locations.

Adding to the price tag Sunday was the City Council’s Sergeant-at-Arms squad, which was on hand to provide security for at least a half-dozen city lawmakers who showed up for the event.

“The council security team goes to all these events where the council members go and there’s a chance of someone being hurt,” Councilman Erik Bottcher (D-Manhattan) told The Post outside Sunday’s story hour. . .

The events are co-sponsored by the nonprofit Drag Story Hour NYC, which has received more than $200,000 in city contracts since 2018, according to records — prompting outcry from critics of the kiddie sessions. Family Doctor Arrested for Child Porn, Allegedly Recorded Children With Camera Hidden in Bracelet

A resident doctor who was training in family medicine not only had an alleged huge cache of child porn, but he also allegedly recorded children as young as 6 years old using a camera hidden in a bracelet as he examined them.

Dr. Bradford David Ferrick, 32, of Amherst, Massachusetts, was ordered held without bail on Tuesday. He had been completing his medical residency at Baystate Franklin Family Medicine since last summer.

The first incident that led to the discovery of Ferrick’s alleged depravity came when police in Winchester, where Ferrick’s parents live, reviewed three cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; those tips suggested a Google account was uploading child pornography. Files had been uploaded to an IP address in the Syracuse, New York, area; Ferrick was attending the University of New York Upstate Medical University there.

More tips reportedly found illicit material uploaded at an IP address connected to Ferrick’s parents’ home. Investigators searching the home found 61 electronic devices, including hidden camera systems and memory cards holding “thousands of images and videos” purportedly showing child pornography, The Boston Globe reported.

‘There Is Something Dangerous About This Movement’: JK Rowling Pushes Back Against Pro-Trans Activists

J.K. Rowling recently elaborated on her viewpoints that are critical of the transgender movement, claiming she felt it was important to speak up and that many of her fans are grateful to her for doing so.

In the latest episode of “The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling” podcast, the author said she has listened to the transgender movement and attempted to understand its viewpoint, but still felt it was important to speak her thoughts on the matter.

The “Harry Potter” author has received substantial backlash over the past few years due her decision to share opinions that have rankled many pro-transgender activists. In 2019 Rowling tweeted support for Maya Forstater, a woman who was fired from her job because she criticized policy which would have allowed people to identify as any gender they wish. In 2020, Rowling also tweeted criticism of the idea that the sex binary “isn’t real” and slammed an op-ed for using the term “people who menstruate” in lieu of “women.”

“I can only say that I’ve thought about it deeply and hard and long. And I’ve listened, I promise, to the other side,” Rowling said on the podcast Tuesday. “And I believe, absolutely, that there is something dangerous about this movement, and it must be challenged.”
