Biden Official Lied Under Oath About Disinfo Board, Lawmakers Say

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been accused of misleading top Republican senators about the purposes of the controversial Disinformation Governance Board.

Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Josh Hawley argue the board was designed with more power than the top Biden official admitted during testimony.

Mayorkas repeatedly downplayed the power and role of the group during congressional testimony, telling the Senate Homeland Security Committee last month it was “established with the explicit goal of ensuring that the protection of free speech, privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties is incorporated into all of the department’s disinformation work.” He contended that “we’re not the Truth Police” and said the board “does not have any operational authority or capability.”

The board was at least temporarily put on hold following the controversy surrounding Director Nina Jankowicz, who later resigned. She has a history of either labeling claims as disinformation that were later found to have credibility or giving credence to assertions that were later discredited. She immediately cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story, touted British ex-spy Christopher Steele as a disinformation expert, downplayed Iranian election meddling aimed at hurting Trump in the 2020 election, critiqued the media’s promotion of the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis, pushed debunked claims of Trump-Russia collusion, and more. A Would-Be School Invader in Alabama Failed When the Doors Were Locked and Police Weren’t Cowards

While Democrats continue exploiting the Uvalde shooting victims to prattle on about “assault weapons” and so-called “common-sense gun control,” another school was attacked on Thursday, but it won’t make the headlines.

That’s because this school — Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden, Alabama — didn’t have any victims except the would-be invader, who was shot dead by police after he tried and failed to bust into the building. Here’s how it all reportedly went down.

A passerby saw a man “aggressively” trying to get into the school building. When the man was unsuccessful, he tried several other doors, all of which were locked. The responsible observer called to report the man, the school principal put the building on lockdown and called in a police officer who doubles as the school resource officer, and that officer called for backup. If the reports are correct, the chain of command worked smoothly thanks to decisive action and quickly followed protocols.

The resource officer reportedly engaged the would-be invader, who then also allegedly attempted to forcefully enter a marked police vehicle and to take the officer’s gun. More police officers rushed to the scene to help, and the assailant was shot and killed. According to the city’s school superintendent, the schoolchildren who were there “seemed to be unaware the incident occurred.”

In other words, a man who “aggressively” tried to break into a school and take the firearm of a police officer was stopped because doors were properly locked and police officers acted bravely and urgently. Texas Judge Halts Transgender Child Abuse Investigations

A Texas judge on Friday granted a temporary restraining order to block the state from investigating two families with children who are claimed to be transgender.

Travis County District Court Judge Jan Soifer agreed with the parents of the kids that the families face immediate harm from the investigations.

Also during the hearing, the state’s attorney revealed that the state has closed the child abuse case into one of the families, the Briggles.

The Briggles were one of at least nine families under state investigation for allowing their child to receive medical treatment that affirmed the child’s preferred gender, such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy. (Read more from “Texas Judge Halts Transgender Child Abuse Investigations” HERE)

Was Jan. 6 Organized by the FBI?; WATCH: January 6 Committee Plays Deceptively Edited Video of Capitol Riot

By Townhall. As the liberal media obsesses over President Trump for so-called “inciting” the peaceful crowds to enter the Capitol on January 6 to protest, Republicans are standing up and defending their party.

While meeting with conservative activists at a Phoenix IHOP, Senate candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ.) questioned whether Jan. 6 was just one big set up by the FBI.

According to audio of the meeting obtained by CNN, the Trump-endorsed candidate was asked if he would support an investigation into the U.S. Intelligence operations to reveal the government’s motives in the protests, to which he replied “absolutely.”

“Don’t we suspect that, like, one-third of the people outside of the Capitol complex on Jan. 6 were actual FBI agents hanging out…what did people know? And when did they know it? We got to get to the bottom of this.” (Read more from “Was Jan. 6 Organized by the FBI? HERE)

Watch: January 6 Committee Plays Deceptively Edited Video of Capitol Riot

By Breitbart. The January 6 Committee played a deceptively edited video of the Capitol riot on Thursday evening, dubbing audio of former President Donald Trump describing the peaceful part of the rally over footage of violent clashes a mile away.

The video was presented during the committee’s first public hearing as part of a montage that Chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said included never-before-seen footage. The audio was from a Fox News interview of Trump on July 11, 2021.

The committee played Trump’s comments — which referred to his peaceful rally, over a mile away — over visuals of clashes between rioters and police. “They were peaceful people. These were great people,” Trump was heard saying. “The crowd was unbelievable. And I mentioned the word love. The love — the love in the air, I have never seen anything like it.”

In the original context, however, it was clear Trump was referring to his rally, not to the riot at the Capitol a mile away. (Read more from “Watch: January 6 Committee Plays Deceptively Edited Video of Capitol Riot” HERE)

Twitter Will Comply With Elon Musk’s Demands to Turn Over Its Data: Report

Days after Elon Musk accused Twitter of being in “material breach” of the contract for Musk to acquire the social media company, Twitter’s board has agreed to give the billionaire full access to its data.

As soon as this week, Twitter will provide Musk with a “firehose” of data including a real-time record of the more than 500 million tweets sent daily, what devices they come from, and information about the accounts that tweet, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The board’s acquiescence is a win for Musk, who put his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter on hold and even threatened to back out if Twitter would not hand over information that would let his team calculate the number of fake or spam accounts on its platform.

Defeating “spam bots” is among the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s top priorities for Twitter once he takes the company private. Musk has pledged to “authenticate all real humans” and purge fake accounts from the social media website or “die trying.”

On May 13, he said that his deal to buy Twitter could not move forward until he verified Twitter’s claim that spam or fake accounts make up fewer than 5% of Twitter users. Musk has estimated the number is closer to 20% — a claim backed by some independent researchers — but he has repeatedly insisted he needs access to Twitter’s data to know for sure. Betsy DeVos Says Trump Cabinet — Including Pence — Discussed 25TH Amendment to Remove Him From Office

Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos claims she and other cabinet members, including former Vice President Mike Pence, discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove former President Donald Trump after Jan. 6.

DeVos spoke to Ingrid Jacques with USA Today ahead of the release of her new book, “Hostages No More: The Fight for Education Freedom and the Future of the American Child.” . .

“It wasn’t about the election results,” she told Jacques. “It was about the values and image of the United States. It was about public service rising above self. The president had lost sight of that.” . . .

“I spoke with the vice president and just let him know I was there to do whatever he wanted and needed me to do or help with, and he made it very clear that he was not going to go in that direction or that path,” she said. . .

Memo Confirms Trump Pentagon Offered Guard Troops Before Jan. 6

Government memos validate the long-held claim of Trump administration officials that Capitol Police rejected an offer made by the Pentagon four days before the Jan. 6 riot to provide National Guard troops.

An official Capitol Police timeline obtained by Just the News records a Jan. 2, 2021, text from Defense Department official Carol Corbin to Capitol Police deputy chief Sean Gallagher.

Corbin, according to the timeline, reached out “to determine whether USCP is considering a request for National Guard soldiers for January 6, 2021 event.”

The following morning, “Gallagher replies to DOD via text that a request for National Guard support not forthcoming at this time after consultation with COP Sund,” referring to Steven Sund, the chief of the Capitol Police.

Just the News noted the rejection came as the Capitol Police was beginning to change its assessment of Jan. 6, 2021, to take into account a massive Trump rally to protest the November 2020 election results. (Read more from “Memo Confirms Trump Pentagon Offered Guard Troops Before Jan. 6” HERE)

Poll: Public Support for ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban Hits All-Time Low

New polling shows that support for an “assault weapons” ban in the United States has hit an all-time low despite calls from Democrats to implement a ban following a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

In a Quinnipiac University poll, conducted last week and published on Tuesday, 50 percent of registered voters support a nationwide ban on semi-automatic long guns compared to 45% who oppose which represents the lowest level of support since February 2013 when Quinnipiac began asking that question.

The highest level of support for the ban was 67% in February 2018, days after the Parkland school shooting that left 17 people dead.

“Nearly a decade after the school shooting at Sandy Hook and in the midst of a raging partisan and emotional debate, the assault weapon maintains a foothold, as calls for outlawing ownership hit their lowest level,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said. Feds Want Gag Order on Peter Navarro in Contempt Case for Defying House Jan. 6 Committee

Federal prosecutors have requested a gag order against Peter Navarro, as the former Trump White House adviser faces criminal contempt of Congress charges for refusing a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee.

The prosecutors say they want to ensure Mr. Navarro does not share discovery evidence with the public as he prepares his defense. They said it could create a “carnival atmosphere.”

“The defendant’s extrajudicial statements … demonstrate a substantial risk that, without a protective order, the defendant will use non-public discovery for improper purposes instead of to prepare the defense he plans to present before this court,” the prosecutors wrote.

Mr. Navarro, who was indicted by a grand jury last week, has objected to the FBI’s handling of his arrest which was carried out at Reagan National Airport in Washington. He said the public arrest was a punitive measure.

On Wednesday, Mr. Navarro also said he is at a disadvantage because does not have the means to retain a lawyer. (Read more from “Feds Want Gag Order on Peter Navarro in Contempt Case for Defying House Jan. 6 Committee” HERE)
