The Balenciagas of an Anti-Christian World ‘Condemn’ Child Abuse While Castrating, Traumatizing, and Exploiting Kids

It’s hard to think of an episode more tailored to confirm the wildest conspiracy theories of QAnon — that global elites are a bunch of Satan-worshipping pedophiles — than the ongoing Balenciaga scandal.

Here you have a luxury fashion brand literally caught in the act of grooming, with a recent ad campaign featuring small children in Balenciaga apparel holding teddy bears wearing sexual fetish and bondage gear, and another ad campaign that included images of court documents from a 2008 Supreme Court decision in United States v. Williams, which ruled on a law banning the pandering of child pornography.. .

But there is a deeper story here beyond the hypocrisy and depravity of a single luxury fashion brand, which is that companies like Balenciaga, along with nearly all corporate brands today, have no criteria for saying why such images are a “wrong choice,” or that publishing them is a “grievous error.”

In its statement, Balenciaga says, “We strongly condemn child abuse.” But does it? The photo shoots themselves, in which young children were exposed to teddy bears in BDSM gear, were arguably abusive. How can a brand both condemn and engage in child abuse?

The answer is that the term “child abuse” has no meaning to the people who run Balenciaga, just as it has no meaning to the people who provide “gender-affirming care” at Boston Children’s Hospital, one of many hospitals where minors are routinely castrated, mutilated, and given powerful puberty-blocking drugs that cause irreversible damage. Same goes for those who put on all-ages drag shows targeting children, or push for pornographic material to be available in public school libraries. For these people, “child abuse” is a phrase without content, a holdover from a moral universe they believe they have transcended, or perhaps destroyed. Eastern Ukraine Had Good Reason to Join Russia, After Kyiv’s Aggression

Once a Pittsburgh sister city also known for its steel industry, Donetsk, and the greater Donbas region in which it is located, has been at war since 2014. According to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, 14,000 people died in this conflict, even before Russia began its military operations in February. I’ve just returned from there.

Before Russia’s intervention, the conflict had been between the people of that region and the government in Kiev, after an unconstitutional coup took 2014. This coup, known as “Maidan,” was — as then US Ambassador to Ukraine Victoria Nuland explained in a recorded telephone conversation — managed by the United States.

The coup brought to power a pro-Western, anti-Russian, government, which contained elements which were far-right and even Nazi. The best known element, as the Nation Magazine reported in 2019, is the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, which has been part of Ukraine’s National Guard since 2014. Its commander Andriy Biletsky once wrote that Ukraine’s mission is to “lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade…against the Semite-led Untermenschen.” . . .

However, the people of Donetsk, who have lived this reality now for almost nine years, are very clear that all of this is real. Indeed, I met people in Donetsk (some quite elderly) who volunteered back in 2014 to defend their land and their people from the Kiev government’s aggression.

Much of the government views the predominantly ethnic Russian people of the Donbas as inferior beings whose language and culture, including the Russian Orthodox Church, should be eradicated. I actually traveled to Donestk in a vehicle laden with clothes destined for a Russian Orthodox monastery in Donetsk that is constantly being shelled by the Kiev government. Sellin: If Corrupt Tyrants Intend to Govern Illegitimately, Then Stand Up Against the Tyrants

Despite clear maladministration, if not intentional voter suppression and fraud, the Maricopa County, Arizona Board of Supervisors is expected to soon certify the 2022 Election results. This will likely take place this morning.

Corruption in government is a solvable problem, but not without free and fair elections.

So, what do you do when rigged elections won’t let citizens “vote out” a corrupt tyrannical political aristocracy?

One needs to look no further than the Declaration of Independence for an answer, specifically The Preamble:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,—That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

We are not equal when a tiny self-centered political elite can determine whose votes will count in elections they have rigged in advance.

What is happening in Arizona today is representative of what is occurring across the country.

Americans, who support a constitutional republic, must acknowledge that the United States is a one-party, semi-authoritarian state ruled by a Globalist Uniparty composed of the Democrat Party, the Republican establishment, a permanent unaccountable oppressive bureaucracy, all supported by international anti-American financiers and an obsequious media.

There is now a sharp division between the bipartisan ruling class and the American people, who are considered retrograde and dysfunctional unless properly controlled by the unquestioned dictates of central authority.

We have elections, but we do not have representative government.

Most members of Congress, seek office, not to uphold the Constitution and serve the American people, but to obtain power, and to use that power to accrue professional and financial benefits for themselves and their wealthy donors.

The Republican establishment component of the Globalist Uniparty has gradually solidified its choice to no longer represent what had been its constituency, but to adopt the identity of junior partners in the ruling class.

All the traditional means for the American people to seek the redress of grievances have now been blocked by a self-absorbed permanent political aristocracy.

Americans are suffering the unsufferable, being subjected to a long train of abuses and usurpations, all designed to place us under absolute despotism.

It now becomes necessary for those who believe in a constitutional republic to dissolve the political bands with the tyrannical Globalist Uniparty.

It was the Arizona contingent of the Globalist Uniparty, which did nothing to correct the identified flaws in the 2020 election, that controlled that state’s 2022 election.

Americans have all the legal means to prevent those who have attained power illegitimately from exercising that power, by publicly declaring independence and initiating a political insurgency.

Organize massive civil disobedience, demonstrations, sick-outs, strikes, lawsuits and otherwise legally over-load the system to bring non-essential state services to a standstill.

Create parallel political and economic systems.

If allowed to rule, the Democrats, who now control the main levers of state power, will amplify all the destructive and oppressive policies of the Biden regime.

Rigged elections only succeed when we allow it.

Arizona is the hill to die on. If not there, then where? If not now, then when?

Are American Women Even up to the Task of Cooking for Thanksgiving?

American women know their way around a conference room. However, they have largely forgotten the traditions of a kitchen, leading to the question of whether they are even capable of making one of the nation’s most important meals on Thanksgiving. . .

The celebration of Thanksgiving is the epitome of American values. It showcases that our nation’s strength still lies in the family as we go back to the same house to recreate the same feast with the same people around the same table every year.

It was understood by everyone in the house that this meal was special – something that deserved dedicated time, preparation, and care to complete. It brought families together and kept them close. . .

The sad reality is that American women aren’t being taught how to be homemakers anymore because they are learning to dominate in the workforce instead of perfecting their Sunday roast. It’s much easier to order delivery than to learn how to cook. . .

Tradition is a beautiful thing that shouldn’t be ignored. Because when someone turns their back on tradition, their life often feels chaotic and untethered. Nothing describes the modern woman more. You can see it in every viral video of a 20-30 something female laughing about how her house is a disaster while promising that it’s going to be “totally fine” because she found the collectible toy that McDonald’s was advertising on TikTok. $66 Billion In, It’s Clear the Realists Were Right About Ukraine

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has been speaking with high-level Russian officials “to guard against the risk of escalation and keep communications channels open, and not to discuss a settlement of the war in Ukraine,” The Wall Street Journal reports, citing anonymous sources.

It appears the Biden administration has been privately pushing Ukraine to come to the negotiation table, while, bafflingly, providing Ukraine with whatever it wants. On-book U.S. spending on Ukraine’s war is so far about $66.3 billion, the largest foreign government contribution to the war by far.

The Washington Post adds, also citing anonymous sources, that the Biden administration is making:

a calculated attempt to ensure the government in Kyiv maintains the support of other nations facing constituencies wary of fueling a war for many years to come. The discussions illustrate how complex the Biden administration’s position on Ukraine has become, as U.S. officials publicly vow to support Kyiv with massive sums of aid ‘for as long as it takes’ while hoping for a resolution to the conflict that over the past eight months has taken a punishing toll on the world economy and triggered fears of nuclear war.

Consider the stupidity of this strategy. Everyone with an IQ greater than an absent-minded jellyfish knows Ukraine as an independent actor and state wouldn’t even exist without American politicians granting it an open checkbook even during crippling inflation and functionally open borders. But America has to privately beg Ukraine because Washington, D.C., is trapped by its own grandiose rhetoric and foolish decision to give Ukraine billions and advanced weapons. If Republicans Win, They Will Burn Your Home, Steal Your Possessions, Take Your Lives, and Laugh When They Enslave Your Children

. . .I’m sure, by now, you’ve heard that the end is near-ish. About a week away. Sure, there were rumblings it was coming when we passed net neutrality. Those who survived were subjected to the fiery lake of burning sulfur known as the Trump tax cuts, which Nancy Pelosi had presciently noted was “armageddon.” “People will die if Trumpcare becomes law,” she warned. Then came the overturning of Roe v. Wade — a decision that “released the whirlwind.” And, now, here we are at the midterms of 2022, the most momentous election not only in your life but perhaps in the history of mankind.

Last night, the President of the United States, a man whose pathological lying has been ratcheted up to surreal levels lately, gave one of the most transparently toxic partisan speeches in memory. Biden, quite paradoxically, warned that American “democracy” could only survive if the nation functioned under one-party rule. Despite historic early turnouts, the president lied about widespread attacks on voting rights, preemptively engaging in the kind of election denialism he contends is “un-American.” Biden has probably forgotten that virtually every major Democrat was an “election denialist” not only in 2016 but in 2000, as well. . .

No one is innocent, of course, but there is a popular myth that maintains the left generally engages in prudent, thoughtful, scientific, non-inflammatory rhetoric, while the right does little more than incite violence and luxuriate in its “sadism.” The “cruelty is the point” is the kind of vacuous phrase that brainless partisans living in hermetically sealed bubbles think is smart.

The media will be out scouring the land to find some nuts who are mocking the Pelosi attack to prove that one side is hankering for violence while largely glossing over the outlandish rhetoric regularly spouted on our biggest platforms. Most Democratic voters surely don’t see the world in these Manichean terms. The “election-denying” left-wing punditry class and media, however, who spy Hitler lurking behind every milquetoast Republican governor, have no problem smearing all those with a slightly different worldview as fascists. In this world, there is no policy debate; there is only alarmism and crass projection from those who desire a one-party state. You Will Have No Say in Government and You Will Be Happy

The plan for those who don’t subscribe to the ever-changing ideological orthodoxy of the Left hasn’t changed much since the days of Lenin.

To dissent from its core dogmas is to lose your place in society. And because that orthodoxy is ever evolving, no deeply held conviction is ever truly “safe”, as one feminist group in New York recently discovered when their event highlighting five “Canceled Women” was itself canceled by the New York Library. Every conviction, no matter how sincerely held, bears the risk of one day being cancelled by the Left.

Many who were reluctant to line up for injections last year (or who were simply reluctant to supply that information on demand) got a taste of this.

To one segment of society, religious objections didn’t matter.

Moral objections—didn’t matter.

Personal medical objections—didn’t matter.

The fact that you already possessed natural immunity and didn’t need it—didn’t matter.

Skepticism based on your own peer-reviewed research—wasn’t considered a valid objection.

To the Left, individual rights, including conscience rights, are only to be respected when exercised in the furtherance of societal goals (the chief of which is always more power to the Left).

If you dissent from these societal goals, no matter how incoherent they may be, you will be marginalized. You will be ostracized. Even your livelihood will be considered fair game if the threat of losing it can be used to bring you (or your neighbor) to heel.

Your right to defend yourself in court won’t fare any better than your right to keep your job or honor your religious convictions.

Your right to vote, to be represented in government by someone who holds your same views, will likewise be forfeit if those views clash with the imposed dogma.

This is what awaits “deplorable”, non-woke Americans.

And remember, that dogma can turn on a dime. One day you are encouraged to dine out and hug a stranger to fight racism. The next you are told to lock down—but attending BLM protests is always ok.

Your measure as a citizen will be the extent to which you can accommodate yourself to the changing narrative. A citizen who does not comply (or can’t) will have no rights in this brave new world.

Ask me how I know this. For the last six years no one in the Alaska Legislature has dissented more strongly, or more consistently, from left-wing dogma than I have. I vote against woke nonsense every time it comes across my desk, and I don’t apologize. And with the state house under Democrat control for the last six years there has been a lot of woke nonsense.

I’ve stood against every attempt to inject race into state law, even when it meant standing alone. When Democrats sought to sideline Columbus Day for Indigenous People’s Day, I voted no. When there was a move to classify Vietnam Veterans based on race, I voted no. When a bill came forward to recognize some veterans, and ignore others, based on the color of their skin, I voted no.

Sometimes the ask is simply to look the other way and ratify the lie. When Democrats sought to memorialize Byron Mallott as a “noble” and “extraordinary leader”, a “visionary”, I was one of three legislators who voted no. I was accused of being a “racist” simply for voting no.

In the economy of the Left, dissent is an existential threat. It is interesting to watch how they have responded.

First there was talk of a recall, and then a public campaign by the PSL and the Democratic Party to have me expelled from office.

Now I am being sued by a left-wing law firm who wants to label me a subversive American and prevent the ballots in my race from counting.

While Alaskans focus their attention on next week’s elections, the Left has already launched an attack in court to make one election irrelevant, and to change entirely the way that future elections are conducted in Alaska.

The name of the case is Kowalke v. Eastman, and if you thought ranked-choice voting would upend Alaska elections, those behind this particular lawsuit want to make even bigger changes. Bill Walker’s former chief of staff, Scott Kendall, is supporting this effort as well. For those watching this train wreck about to happen, I have two words: Buckle up.

Up until now, the Alaska Division of Elections has been empowered to disqualify candidates only based on objective criteria; specifically, date of birth, citizenship, and length of residency. Court cases on these issues have been few and far between. They are fixing to change that.

This lawsuit asks the Division of Elections to begin disqualifying candidates based on the inherently subjective criteria of a candidate’s political allegiances (and the political groups they associate with). If you are saying to yourself that no judge would ever open that Pandora’s Box, the judge in this case just decided that the state now has a legal obligation to do exactly that.

The reason the Division of Elections has never done this before is sound, both legally and practically.

Legally, while there is a prohibition on subversives working in government, there is no prohibition against a candidate running for office who belongs to even the most disfavored political party. Under the Alaska Constitution, you can advocate for communism or monarchy as much and as strongly as you like and still have the opportunity to compete with other candidates for votes on Election Day (though I wouldn’t recommend it). No matter who you are, you will of course have to come to terms with the Constitution and publicly acknowledge its supremacy before taking office.

Practically, it’s also a sticky wicket to have a state agency making decisions concerning anything as subjective as determining an individual’s political allegiances. No matter what the decision is, there is a good chance of it being appealed to the courts if the outcome of an election is at stake. Plus, any court battle will be taking place during an election campaign, which creates further incentives to tie up the other party’s candidate in court proceedings.

As the Department of Law pointed out, one especially troubling aspect of this case is that it opens the door to sue parties who have never violated a law. In this case, the judge has green-lighted the suit against both me and against the Division of Elections, even though neither of us have violated a law or been charged with a crime.

The complaint against me is that I won an election and am currently serving out my term. Likewise, as a candidate, I am not being sued for a campaign violation, but simply for the act of campaigning while engaged in wrongthink (demonstrated by my refusal to condemn a disfavored group that the January 6th Committee is now prosecuting…I mean investigating).

In another time and place, prosecutors might have first waited for an organization to begin actually proselytizing about the need to overthrow the government before accusing it of doing so and the media trying to label it as a subversive organization. Goodness knows, some of those who have been leading the effort to expel me for the past two years have been loud and proud about the fact that “Capitalism cannot be voted out of power” and that the only solution is to overthrow the government:

“Only a revolution can do away with the rule of the capitalists once and for all.”

“The standing army and police must be disbanded and replaced by the armed people, organized in workers’ defense councils.”

They even boasted about their effort to expel me on Communist News.

I hope you understand if I don’t readily accept the argument that, in order to save the Constitution, I must be removed from office for “supporting the violent overthrow of the government” when that argument is being made by individuals who are publicly committed to overthrowing that same Constitution through a violent revolution.

Maybe, just maybe, a more plausible explanation is that these these types of groups would like to see me removed from office because they would prefer the Constitution to be overthrown and, as someone loyal to that Constitution, I am one of the people currently standing in their way. Just maybe.

The truth is, if prosecutors had waited for the Oath Keepers to begin publicly proselytizing for the overthrow of the government, this case would never have gotten started because, unlike some of these other groups, the official Oath Keepers website and bylaws explicitly prohibit such advocacy, without exception. But sure, it makes for a good soundbite that a Republican legislator is committed to the violent overthrow of the government.

Another reason the Division of Elections is concerned about this case in particular is because the judge just discovered a hitherto unknown private right of action for anyone in Alaska to sue the Division of Elections, or any candidate or public officer, at any time over this.

How can you truly be a part-time legislator if even filing as a candidate for office opens you up to being sued at any time, deposed under oath by your political enemies, and instructed to turn over literally thousands of personal emails to the very people who are hoping to defeat you in the current election?

Many Alaskans will not pursue office under such circumstances. Who can blame them?

And that seems to be the idea. If the Left can use threats of lawsuits to keep some conservatives from running for office, and move elections like mine from the ballot box to the court room, that is fewer candidates they will need to run against on Election Day. Remember, the vision being pursued today is one where you, as a conservative, do not deserve to have someone carry your voice and your deplorable views into elected office.

At present, I am the only public official in court defending the results of my 2020 election, and the results of the recent August primary in the Mat-Su. You may be surprised to learn that there is no state agency tasked with defending your legislator if they are sued for simply serving in office.

Obviously, the outcome of this lawsuit will impact me personally. But if you think that those on the other side of this lawsuit will be satisfied with simply suing me, and that they wouldn’t love to turn around and use this suit as a springboard to sue other public officials and candidates, I believe you underestimate their resolve in silencing conservative voices.

I didn’t file this lawsuit, but I will ask for your help in putting an end to it. Help us close the door on those who would use the courts to go after candidates and public figures who have committed no crime. Help us do battle in the courtroom to prevent the Division of Elections from being weaponized against candidates based on their political convictions (either real, or imagined by their opponents).

Masculinity Will Save the World

We’ve all heard and repeated the mantra ad nauseam that, “politics is downstream from culture.”

It’s true, the Right fallaciously defined its investment solely based on the ROI in one’s bank account through the lens of one-dimensional capitalism. In turn, leaving all creative industries abandoned where we find faith-based and conservative artists in the middle of the desert with no home. The radicals swarmed in with their patronage and now control the dreamscapes of your progeny through their aesthetic stranglehold of the arts and entertainment. And so, we have widespread liberalism and atheism brainwashing generations ahead of us in all creative spaces. It’s time we start becoming active participants as either talent, collector, or patron. Every art gallery you visit in New York City, much like every church in the city, has either a Black Lives Matter or LGBTQ rainbow flag for a reason – in other words, “If you ain’t with us, you’re against us.”

And upon deeper introspection… All of this chaos: from the welfare state breaking down the nuclear family to the grotesque assaults and property damages displayed during these so-called protests or to the shameless identity-oriented hatred of white Americans in a country that is 75% Caucasian. All of this is only possible only because masculinity has been silenced in conjunction with the perilous state of the American church. Just think about the last time you’ve seen an unapologetic masculine figure in the dominant narrative who’s taken the culture by storm.

The 45th President Donald Trump, canceled.

Alex Jones, canceled.

And even Andrew Tate, canceled.

I’m not saying I agree with all of these men in a single wholesale write-off, that would be flippant, I am however stating that these men are a phenomenon in the first place because the West is starving for honorable and traditional masculinity.

In its absence, we have overcompensating and stereotypical bullies or fragile little snowflakes afraid of confrontation.

The matriarchy, or matrix, can only succeed when strong men are quiet.

As Arthur Schlesinger Jr. wrote in Esquire on November 1, 1958 – what we have here is The Crisis of American Masculinity. Even as far back as three generations, we reveal the vilification of men embracing their maleness as more of a problem than a natural God-given right. While they do not use disparaging terminology we hear today like “toxic masculinity” or the patriarchy, the language of the article exhibits a generation of men who feel self-conscious about their conception of masculinity.

For example, I’ve stated on stages across the country a dozen times that the appeal of hip-hop is rooted in the egregious single motherhood rate, especially in the black community. And the freedom to be hyper-masculine in the absence of a balanced example at home is the allure young men have to the thick gold chains, prostitutes, and face tattoos.

Competitive video games, Donald Trump, and gangster rap all share the desire to swing the pendulum as far as possible in the other direction in a culture that penalizes any semblance of masculinity in the public square.

Growing up watching films with my father in the evenings such as Indiana Jones, Braveheart, and Shawshank Redemption was both entertaining and educational. You were being shown that Good ultimately triumphs over evil with bravery and discipline. You were shown that effeminacy in men predisposed their destinies to weakness and failure. Fast forward to today where every sitcom dad is depicted as a blathering idiot who consistently trips on his shoelaces only to be graciously corrected by his all-seeing and compassionate wife.

Look at Homer Simpson or Phil Dunphy, then look at our movie titles – She-Hulk, The Woman King, and Suffragette. Outside of film we have normalized terminology such as toxic masculinity and the patriarchy on college campuses. The reason Matt Walsh’s documentary “What is a Woman?” went viral in the first place is due to masculinity being shoved so far into the corner and a collective recognition that there is a strategic effort to debase and target all the trappings of classical masculinity here in the West.

What we need, is some masculine art.

When people think of the sexual revolution, they generally imagine some time in the ’60s when drug-addled hippies at Woodstock were practicing free love, women were liberated from the home and entering the workforce, pornography and pornographic images were lining the newsstands, and abortions were legalized and frequent.

While this idea is not altogether inaccurate, the West has actually experienced multiple sexual revolutions, and each of them happened gradually. In his most recent book “Three Sexual Revolutions: Catholic, Protestant, Atheist,” David Carlin charts the progression and logic of sex and its relation to Western society. The book is succinct, clear, and quite pessimistic. After one sees the big picture, it’s difficult not to conclude that things will get much worse before they get any better.

Ironically, the current confusion about sex that dominates the popular imagination bears some resemblance to the confusion of Ancient Rome, which is where Carlin begins his discussion. In the centuries before the birth of Christ, pagan Rome did at least adhere to some degree of sexual prudence and chastity. Carlin notes, “For centuries Roman women were as famous for their chastity as Roman men were for their courage. But toward the latter days of the republic, things had changed considerably — at least on the chastity front.”

To illustrate this, he cites the scandals of adultery with Julius Caesar, which still meant something in public life. His heir Augustus tried in vain to revive the virtue of chastity, outlawing adultery and even making an example of his own daughter who violated this law. However, right after Augustus’s reign, sexual chaos soon set in, starting from the top, as each successor indulged in increasingly disgusting and destructive sexual fetishes. I Won’t Go to War With Russia for Randi Weingarten

After news broke on Monday that Russia launched missiles at several Ukrainian cities, the president of the second-largest teachers union in America announced she was “heading to the border now to assess the situation.” . . .

What is the woman infamous for sentencing American children to school on screens doing in Ukraine other than making herself a Franz Ferdinand-like target and possibly violating the Logan Act? Especially since the U.S. Department of State has ordered Americans “not travel to Ukraine due to Russian military invasion.”

According to the AFT, which sponsored the trip, Weingarten’s presence in Ukraine is supposed to “offer solidarity and support in the face of relentless attacks that have forced hundreds of thousands of refugees to flee the country’s east.”  

Frankly, that’s not a good enough reason to be gung-ho about celebrities such as Ben Stiller, Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, Liev Schreiber, Jessica Chastain, and now leftist pawns such as Weingarten making the dangerous pilgrimage East with the hopes that they can “make a difference” in Ukraine. These American civilians have no business traveling to Eastern Europe in the midst of a conflict that is teetering on the edge of nuclear war, even if they are just trying to “do something” beyond putting the performative blue and yellow flag in their Twitter bios.

Already, American warmongers including President Joe Biden have threatened escalation if Russia continues its rampage in the East. The last thing the United States needs after funneling more than $67 billion to the Volodymyr Zelensky regime without any accountability or oversight is to have an American injured or dead thanks to their reckless travel. There’s no doubt that any incident of consequence would be used as an excuse to take U.S. involvement from proxy war to direct conflict.
