More and more people continue to buy guns in Hawaii and this weekend’s gun show at the Blaisdell was packed. Business at this weekend’s gun show is booming.
“A lot more women a lot more families, it’s not just a man thing anymore,” says Sheldon Tyau, Event Coordinator. Organizers say it’s the largest crowd they’ve seen in the show’s 35 year history.
The longest line was for ammo.
“It’s really difficult to get ammo at a good price right now, if you can find it,” says Doug Moose, Mililani resident.
“Alot of it’s getting scarce on the mainland, so a lot of people want to make sure they get extra ammo,” says Tyau.
The whole exchange began with the high-octane stupidity of MSNBC host Rachel Maddow whining that House Budget Committee chair Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget “is a document that says the big problems in America right now are that rich people do not have enough money… They need relief from confiscatory tax rates.”
Because all money is the rightful property of the State, you see. Anything the geniuses in Washington decide to let you keep – rather than seizing and giving to their favorite constituents, or “investing” in debacles like Solyndra – is an “expense.” So is the United States military, the one government program Maddow wants to cut to the bone.
We’ll get back to that business of government “investment” in a moment, but first, savor the irony of hyper-liberal Bill Maher deciding he’s not quite ready to follow Maddow down this particular fork in the Road to Serfdom:
Pointing at Virginia’s former Republican Congressman Tom Davis, Maher said, “You know what? Rich people – I’m sure you’d agree with this – actually do pay the freight in this country.”
“I just saw these statistics,” he continued, “I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals – you could actually lose me. It’s outrageous what we’re paying – over 50 percent. I’m willing to pay my share, but yeah, it’s ridiculous.”

Conservative legend Phyllis Schlafly told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday that the Republican establishment had given America a series of losers as presidential candidates over the last two decades–and the last time they picked a winner, George W. Bush, he was a bigger spender than the Democrats.
“Why is it that the establishment has given us this bunch of losers?” Schlafly said. “The establishment has given us a whole series of losers: Bob Dole and John McCain and Mitt Romney.
“And even when they picked a winner–George W. Bush–they picked somebody who spent more than the Democrats,” she said.
“He added new programs that cost the taxpayers money, and he tried to give us open borders, first through the North American Union and through the amnesty that he lined up with Ted Kennedy,” Schlafly said.
Schlafly, who founded Eagle Forum and has been a leader of the Conservative Movement for more than four decades, said the establishment tries to enforce “certain criteria” on their candidates.

Wilmington, DE — A 63-year old Catholic grandmother of 12 was violently attacked last week outside the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Wilmington, Delaware, as she filmed the fourth abortion injury there in less than five weeks.
Earlier in the day Rae Stabosz had been praying outside the Planned Parenthood clinic when a woman and her mother came to the clinic. Rae learned that the woman was suffering complications to an abortion she received on March 8. Rae persuaded them to go to St. Francis hospital where it was discovered that aborted baby body parts, including a leg and foot, had been left behind by the abortionist. The woman required additional surgery and was referred to legal counsel.
Rae left Planned Parenthood to attend mass, and when she returned to the Planned Parenthood, she was shocked to see that yet another medical emergency was in progress. As she was filming the incident with her cell phone, a young woman came out of the Planned Parenthood clinic and violently attacked Rae, knocking her down and taking away her phone.
The attacker took Rae’s phone inside the clinic and gave it to a Planned Parenthood worker. Rae immediately ran into the clinic, retrieved her phone, then returned to the street where she continued to film the gurney with the injured patient, covered head to toe in blankets and sheets, being loaded into the ambulance.
The police soon arrived and Rae made a police report, but the attacker has fled the scene. At this writing, she remained at large.
On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” American Crossroads boss Karl Rove took a shot at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference attacked Rove for his reportedly planned involvement in upcoming Republican primaries.
“The last thing we need is Washington, D.C. vetting our candidates,” Palin told attendees at CPAC, while suggesting that Rove has a financial motivation. “The architects can head on back to the great Lone Star state and put their names on some ballot.”
But in his “Fox News Sunday” appearance, Rove said he wanted to set a few things straight.
“Well, first of all I live in Texas and not Washington,” Rove said. “Second of all, look, Sarah Palin should be agreeing with this. She didn’t support Todd Akin, and when he said the reprehensible things he said, she wisely came out and said he ought to get out of the race — the ‘legitimate rape’ candidate in Missouri. If she can play in primaries, other people can play in primaries.”

Dr. Benjamin Carson was a famed neurosurgeon long before he exploded onto the national political stage with a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast last month. Now he’s hinting that his medical career might just be followed by a career in politics. He scattered a few teasing hints of such plans through his address to the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference, and also looked back at the negative reactions to his National Prayer Breakfast appearance with a mixture of humor and horror.
He noted that some of his critics have asked why a medical doctor would have any business weighing in on economic policy. ”It’s not brain surgery,” he responded with a chuckle, and indeed much of his economic advice is a mixture of common sense (which Carson frequently praises) and the same brand of dispassionate analysis that informs surgical decisions. For example, he observed there’s an awful lot of money floating around beyond America’s borders, and our government could bring it home by “treating businesses as friends, not as enemies” and recognizing they are private enterprises lawfully seeking profit, not welfare agencies. He repeated his comments about truly fair taxation from the National Prayer Breakfast, advocating a low and flat tax system that punishes no one and exempts no one.
What horrifies Carson is the assertion that he had no right to voice his opinions at that February prayer breakfast because he has black skin, and stood in the august presence of King Barack I. He explained that a brain surgeon is well-qualified to give testimony about how people are all the same inside, no matter the color of the skin stretched over their skulls.
As for the propriety of a doctor offering moral and political advice, Carson said this fell under the finest traditions of self-government. ”This is a country that’s for, of, and by the people – not for, of, and by the government. And if we turn it over to them, we cannot complain about what they’re doing… because this is the natural course of men, and we have to hold their feet to the fire.”

In a comical twist, Governor Sarah Palin brought a “Big Gulp” cup with her on stage at CPAC yesterday.
After taking a sip she stated, “Oh Bloomberg’s not around, our Big Gulp is safe.”
“Shoot, it’s just pop! With low-cal ice cubes in it. I hope that’s okay.”
Apparently the crowd at CPAC thought it was, as they roared their approval.
Contrary to several predictions, Governor Palin did not announce a campaign for US Senate but instead entertained CPAC participants with a series of humorous one liners.

It was stunning for those who watched Thursday night as federal agents investigated a possible nuclear threat at Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center.
CBS 2′s photojournalist Lana Hinshaw-Klann happened to be at the scene and used a cell-phone camera to record agents in action. Reporter Dave Savini looks into what agents were looking for and what they found.
Sources say the agents were members of the elite TSA VIPR team on the 5:04pm Union Pacific West line. They were carrying hand-held nuclear-detection devices that picked up a reading.
VIPR teams were created after the 2004 bombing of a train in Madrid, Spain, to protect U.S. transportation. At the Ogilvie station, officers held the train and searched for a person or bag that posed a potential nuclear threat.
Jerry Jones, a Chicago lawyer, was heading home on that train. He says the federal officers narrowed the trouble to the area where he was sitting.
Donald Trump on Friday appeared to bash Karl Rove’s super PAC activity for its track record in the last election.
”When you watch someone who spends $400 million on campaigns with perhaps the worst ads I’ve ever seen — they did ads on Obama I thought were being paid for by the Obama campaign,” Trump said in his address to CPAC. Rove’s groups, American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, spent more than $300 million on the 2012 cycle.
Trump continued, “When you spend $400 million and it’s a failure and you don’t have one victory, you know something is seriously, seriously wrong.”
The real estate mogul gave an opening address at CPAC’s Friday morning session as the conservative crowd trickled in.
Trump also cast doubt on GOP efforts concerning immigration reform.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, in an extensive interview with Fox News, alleged that the injured survivors of the Benghazi terror attack have been “told to be quiet” and feel they can’t come forward to tell their stories — as he urged the House to subpoena the administration for details if necessary.
The South Carolina senator said he’s “had contact” with some of the survivors, calling their story “chilling.” He told Fox News that “the bottom line is they feel that they can’t come forth, they’ve been told to be quiet.”
The White House is denying any attempt to exert pressure on the surviving victims. “I’m sure that the White House is not preventing anyone from speaking,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, when asked about the survivors.
But Graham said he thinks the administration is “trying to cover it up,” citing the valuable information the survivors hold.
“The best evidence of what happened in Benghazi is not a bunch of politicians in Washington trying to cover their political ass,” Graham said. “This is the people who lived through the debacle, and I’m going to do all I can to get them before the Congress and American people.”
