Yelp Steers Women Away From Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Claims They Give ‘Misleading Information’ to Prevent Abortion

Yelp is now the latest Big Tech company to shore up access to abortion in the wake of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Yelp has now decided to flag crisis pregnancy centers to dissuade women from using their services rather than those provided at abortion clinics.

Beginning on Tuesday, Yelp, a website and app that purports to connect “people with great local businesses,” will begin flagging both faith-based and non-faith-based CPCs with a “consumer notice” regarding the limited medical services CPCs usually provide.

“This is a Crisis Pregnancy Center,” reads the notice posted with most CPC organizations listed on Yelp. “Crisis Pregnancy Centers typically provide limited medical services and may not have licensed medical professionals onsite.”

Yelp has openly admitted that it hopes to prevent unsuspecting pregnant women who may be seeking abortions from utilizing the services offered by CPCs instead.

“It’s been well-reported that crisis pregnancy centers often attempt to provide misleading information to people seeking abortion care to steer them to other options,” a company statement says, “– with this new notification we’re aiming to further protect consumers from the potential of being misled or confused.” (Read more from “Yelp Steers Women Away From Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Claims They Give ‘Misleading Information’ to Prevent Abortion” HERE)

Post-Roe America Is Not the First Instance of Abortion Supporters Inflating Illegal Abortions

Abortion advocates argue the Supreme Court overturn of Roe v. Wade will only cause more women to seek illegal abortions. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said “women are going to die” due to abortion restrictions. A New York Times editorial last week said more women are “self-managing” abortions. Protestors outside the court brandish signs with hand-drawn coat hangers, suggesting women will use dangerous and violent self-induced abortion methods post-Roe.

Members of the pro-abortion left have used this argument since the 1960s when two men exaggerated the number of illegal abortions occurring to convince women’s rights activist Betty Friedan to add abortion to the feminist platform.

National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) founders Larry Lader and Dr. Bernard Nathanson lobbied state legislatures to repeal abortion restrictions, but their success came when they linked abortion to the rise of feminism. Due to Lader and Nathanson’s influence, feminism transformed from a movement for equal rights to the belief that childless women are best equipped for success.

“If we’re going to move abortion out of the books and into the streets, we’re going to have to recruit the feminists,” Nathanson repeated Lader saying in his 1979 book. “Friedan has got to put her troops into this thing — while she still has control of them.”

In Friedan’s landmark feminist book, “The Feminine Mystique,” she encouraged women to seek jobs outside of the home, drawing attention to the “problem with no name,” the belief women could only achieve happiness through being a wife and mother. But Friedan wanted to protect a woman’s right to have a family. (Read more from “Post-Roe America Is Not the First Instance of Abortion Supporters Inflating Illegal Abortions” HERE)

Mother, Daughter Charged in Horrific Illegal Abortion Case. But the Media Mislead to Push Pro-abortion Angle.

Media outlets are sounding the alarm after Facebook allegedly handed over data to law enforcement resulting in a teenager and her mother being criminally charged for an abortion.

But the headlines misleadingly suggest the teenager is being unfairly prosecuted. . .

But the truth is the data was evidence investigators requested as they investigated a Nebraska mother and her teenage daughter, who now face multiple criminal charges after they allegedly conducted an illegal abortion, burning and burying the unborn child.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, a Norfolk, Nebraska, police detective began investigating in April after receiving a tip that then-17-year-old Celeste Burgess, who is now 18 years old, had miscarried a pregnancy and that she and her mother, 41-year-old Jessica Burgess, disposed of the unborn child’s body.

When the detective obtained the teenager’s medical records, he learned she had been pregnant nearly six months and was expected to deliver the child in early July. When he interviewed her, she claimed that she had unexpectedly given birth to a stillborn child while in the shower. She explained that she and her mother then buried the body with the help of another man. (Read more from “Mother, Daughter Charged in Horrific Illegal Abortion Case. ‘Devastating Step’: Biden Admin Speaks Out Against New Indiana Pro-life Law

The White House has spoken out against Indiana’s new bill that limits most abortions as it becomes the first state to pass such restrictions since the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade.

“The Indiana Legislature took a devastating step as a result of the Supreme Court’s extreme decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and eliminate women’s constitutionally-protected right to abortion,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement on Saturday.

“And, it’s another radical step by Republican legislators to take away women’s reproductive rights and freedom, and put personal health care decisions in the hands of politicians rather than women and their doctors,” she added.

The statement challenged Congress to “act immediately” to restore the protections of Roe. It also said President Joe Biden is “committed to taking action” regarding access to abortion care under federal law.

The new Indiana law is set to take effect on September 15. The restrictions against abortion include exceptions for rape, incest, and protecting the life of the mother. (Read more from “‘Devastating Step’: Biden Admin Speaks Out Against New Indiana Pro-life Law” HERE)

No, NYT, the Difference Between Abortion and a Miscarriage Is Not the Mother’s Feelings

There’s been an awful lot of talk about miscarriage in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that had nothing to do with it.

As the pro-abortion left clings to its movement in a post-Roe world, two law professors have taken to the New York Times opinion section to ask, “Why Do We Talk About Miscarriage Differently From Abortion?”

It’s an absurd question on its face, with the obvious rejoinder being that we talk differently about miscarriage and abortion for the same reason we talk differently about aneurysms and first-degree murder, consensual sex and rape, or salaried employment and slavery.

But false equivalencies aside, the writers’ answer to the question is worth exploring because it illuminates how abortion proponents think about women, the tragedy of miscarriage, the realities of abortion, and the value — or not — of human life. . .

They begin with a false premise, which they never support except with tired and debunked talking points about mifepristone, that abortion and miscarriage are commensurate. “The line between abortion and pregnancy loss has always been blurry,” write Greer Donley and Jill Wieber Lens, later adding: “Pregnancy loss and abortion have more in common than many people realize. The physical experiences are often virtually identical.” (Read more from “No, NYT, the Difference Between Abortion and a Miscarriage Is Not the Mother’s Feelings” HERE)

Biden Signs Executive Order to Aid Women Crossing State Lines for Abortions

President Joe Biden signed an executive order Wednesday calling on Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra to aid women crossing state lines to obtain abortions.

“[Republicans] don’t have a clue about the power of American women,” the president said on Wednesday before he signed the order. “Last night in Kansas they found out.”

Biden’s order, a response to leftist panic following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, includes a provision that asks Becerra to invite states who are treating patients who have crossed state lines for abortions to apply for Medicaid waivers. Here’s What the Liberal Media Missed About Kansas’ Abortion Vote

They’re just wrong. It’s sad how the liberal media is clinging to hope regarding this abortion vote in Kansas. The state rejected a pro-life amendment to the state constitution. If it passed, it would have paved the way for a potential outright ban on abortion in the state. The voter initiative went down in flames 58/41. So, of course, the national news media popped open champagne, declaring that this spells big trouble for Republicans. No, it doesn’t. This jubilation from the liberal media is a classic sign that we’re watching another episode of ‘inside the bubble.’

Abortion isn’t going to save Democrats in 2022.

Liberal media members, I have some news for you. We’re in an economic recession. Joe Biden’s approvals are garbage, especially with Hispanics and Asian voters. Every demographic that isn’t whiny woke white women in college has shifted big league to the GOP. To Vox Media’s credit, they noted how the wording of this amendment was a disaster. Second, Kansas still has strict limits on abortion. The state prohibits public funding, a 22-week ban, and a parental consent law is in place.

Is it a total ban? No, but it could be where we’re heading on this issue. There is no outright ban, though there will be multiple attempts from the pro-life side. The Left is still an emotional wreck over the Dobbs decision. Then, before any talk about abortion, they need to decide whether men can or cannot get pregnant. Once that happens, they can go out there and defend their abortion at all times and without exception, a position that is not popular. Kansas GOP Push to ‘Value Them Both’ on Abortion Law Fails

Kansas voters on Tuesday rejected a state constitutional amendment that would have declared there is no right to abortion, according to Decision Desk HQ. . .

Kansas voters delivered a victory to abortion rights advocates in a deeply conservative state.

“The vote, which comes just over a month after the U.S. Supreme Court revoked federal abortion rights, demonstrates once again that voters across the country do not want politicians interfering in their health care decisions,” Planned Parenthood Action wrote in a statement Tuesday night.

The vote was the first statewide referendum on abortion since the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade decision in June. The ballot question drew national attention as an early indicator of whether abortion rights will motivate voters in November’s midterm elections.

The amendment’s failure will prevent Kansas’ Republican-led legislature from passing severe abortion restrictions without violating the state constitution. (Read more from “Kansas GOP Push to ‘Value Them Both’ on Abortion Law Fails” HERE)

Listed: U.S. Cities That Are Funding Abortion in Pro-Life States

Pro-abortion officials in cities around the nation are taking a bold stand in support of abortions for employees. Seemingly following the lead of dozens of companies that have announced plans to cover the costs of abortion-related travel for employees, these cities are adding heat to the pro-abortion pressure female employees may be feeling in the face of potentially missing a step in their careers. . .

The Austin City Council wants to fund abortion with taxpayer dollars despite the fact that a state trigger law (passed in 2021 and set to go into effect 30 days after the Supreme Court’s decision) restricts abortion except when a mother is at risk of severe injury. The council will be holding a special meeting to discuss this and is also directing city prosecutors not to enforce the Texas law that protects most preborn human beings. . .

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and the City Council are working to create a $100,000 “Reproductive Freedom Fund” to pay for travel-related costs of abortion for both city employees and residents. It’s all part of the city’s six-point plan to advocate for abortion, including refusing to prosecute abortion crimes, treating abortion-related investigations as the “lowest priority,” and considering adding abortion coverage to its employee health insurance plans. . .

According to the Democratic mayor of Cincinnati, Aftab Pureval, the city will now reimburse government employees who travel out of state for abortions. The funding will cover the costs of traveling for an abortion outside of a 150-mile radius. . .

Kansas City City Council members passed a resolution to allow a travel reimbursement for city employees who travel out of state to have an abortion. There is no set dollar amount for the reimbursement, but it would cover the travel-related expenses for the abortion, not the abortion itself. The coverage would be negotiated by the city’s insurance provider, said Mayor Quinton Lucas. (Read more from “Listed: U.S. Cities That Are Funding Abortion in Pro-Life States” HERE)

Pro-Abortion Crowd Silences Women Who Regret Them

Abortion proponents have embraced a drastic shift in messaging over the past few decades. In the 1990s, Bill Clinton’s “safe, legal, and rare” was the standard line — which is a far cry from today’s well-traveled maxims like “Free Abortion on Demand Without Apology” and “Shout Your Abortion.” Indeed, in the heart of abortion’s most ardent base, the strategy entails encouraging pride over shame and celebration over regret. But does this shift reflect the experiences of those who are disinclined to “shout” their abortions?

There’s an accusation lurking in the subtext of the abortion debate over abortion regret, implying that no woman should feel bad “terminating a pregnancy” if it was never suggested that abortion itself is bad. How paternalistic. First, “Big Abortion” sells women short by suggesting they will never be able to handle both a career and a family, and then they sell them an abortion. And now, abortion zealots make themselves the masters of how women must feel about it.

The pro-life movement at large has consistently perceived two victims in an abortion scenario — a child whose life is on the line, and a mother who is vulnerable to an industry that profits from violence and deceit. Those selling abortion must sever the one-of-a-kind physical relationship between mother and gestating child through abortion — lethal pregnancy violence that will be painfully understood by a mother when she finds herself empty of life.

Widespread abortion regret is supported by data, yet seldom reported. The physical and psychological risks of abortion are well known to those of us who support post-abortive women. New studies have shown that women who have abortions are 81 percent more likely to experience subsequent mental health problems. This includes being 110 percent more likely to abuse alcohol and 115 percent more likely to develop suicidal behavior following abortion. Another study notes women who ended their first pregnancy by abortion are five times more likely to report subsequent substance abuse than women who carried the pregnancy to term and four times more likely to report substance abuse compared to those whose first pregnancy ended naturally.
