WATCH: Large Airplane Window Section Blows Open, Forcing Emergency Landing

An Alaska Airlines flight was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing Friday night after a large window section was ejected.

The reported Boeing 737 Max had just taken off from Portland, Oregon, heading to Ontario, California, before the plane had suffered from a large window blowing out of the plane caused by severe depressurization, according to the Daily Mail.

Video footage posted on Twitter appeared to show the plane in the air with the window wide open. Emergency oxygen masks could be seen dangling over passengers’ seats, as a passenger recording the incident stated she had heard from an airline attendant the seat next to the open window had been empty prior to the emergency.

The flight had reportedly taken off at around 5 p.m. before the window blew out at 16,000 feet, which had ripped off a child’s shirt from the pressure, the Daily Mail reported. One passenger told KPTV a kid had to be held in his seat by his mother and some people’s phones were sucked out of the plane. Alaska Airline Pilot Hit With Attempted Murder Says He Took Mushrooms Before Flight

The off-duty pilot accused of attempted murder for trying to cut off engines for an Alaska Airlines flight told investigators he took “magic mushrooms” and thought pulling the handles to cut off the flight’s fuel would cause him to “wake up” from a dream.

State court records obtained by CNN show that Joseph Emerson, 44, told law enforcement that he “had consumed ‘magic mushrooms’ approximately 48 hours prior to the incident on the plane.” He also said he had been awake for the last 40 hours, according to a federal court document.

One of the pilots “grabbed Emerson’s wrists and (the other pilot) reported that they wrestled with Emerson for a few seconds before Emerson stopped and said he was okay,” the documents read, adding that, “Emerson was not able to pull the handles all the way down before the pilots intervened.”

Emerson had experienced depression and the recent death of a friend, according to the documents. He told investigators he was having a nervous breakdown and told the flight crew he needed to be subdued, according to a separate federal criminal complaint. Alaska Airlines Cuts Down on Flights for Rest of January as Airlines Continue to Scramble

On Thursday, Alaska Airlines announced it will be cutting down its flight schedule by around 10% for the remainder of the month of January as it addresses ongoing staffing and weather issues.

ABC News reported:

Alaska’s announcement came on a day in which more than 2,100 U.S. flights were canceled by early evening on the East Coast, according to FlightAware. The tracking service said that equaled about 8% of the day’s scheduled flights, and it was the 12th straight day of 1,000-plus cancellations, which airlines blamed on the virus surge and winter weather.

Report: Christian Flight Attendants Fired by Alaska Airlines for Religious Beliefs

Alaska Airlines has been accused by two former employees of anti-religious discrimination after the corporation fired them for asking questions about the company’s promotion of the Equality Act, an issue the company itself had proposed for discussion on a type of chat forum.

According to First Liberty Institute, the formal complaints have been filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and charge the company discriminated against the two flight attendants because of their “Christian beliefs.”

The former employees’ union is also named, as it was accused of joining in the company’s agenda against the employees. . .

According to the Heritage Foundation, the proposed legislation would penalize Americans who don’t affirm gender ideology, compel individuals to speak messages with which they disagree, would close down charities unless they relinquished their religion, allow for males who call themselves females to participate in sports events designated for girls or women, would coerce medical professionals to perform body-mutilating surgeries when told to, would jeopardize parental rights and “enable sexual assault.” . . .

Two individuals, both employed by the airline at the time, accepted the company’s invitation to comment and raised various questions about the company’s support and the bill itself. (Read more from “Report: Christian Flight Attendants Fired for Religious Beliefs” HERE)

Alaska Airlines Bans State Senator for Refusing to Follow Mask Rules

Alaska Airlines has banned Alaska state Sen. Lora Reinbold (R-Eagle River) from flying on the airline for repeatedly refusing to follow mask mandates.

“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” Alaska Airlines spokesperson Tim Thompson told The Epoch Times via email.

“This suspension is effective immediately pending further review. Federal law requires all guests to wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times during travel, including throughout the flight, during boarding and deplaning, and while traveling through an airport.” . . .

Videos on Twitter appear to show the senator discussing the incident with the airline staff.

Reinbold said, in a statement: “I was reasonable with all Alaska Airlines employees. I have been flying on Alaska Air for decades and am an MVP gold. I inquired about mask exemption with uptight employees at the counter. (Read more from “Alaska Airlines Bans State Senator for Refusing to Follow Mask Rules” HERE)

How Did an Aircraft Thief Takeoff Without a License or Clearance? Here’s What Experts Believe.

Experts are trying to determine exactly how a suicidal baggage handler was able to hijack an empty Alaska Airlines plane from Seattle airport and perform advanced stunt maneuvers before crashing to his death. . .

“They don’t necessarily use a key so there’s a switch that they use to start the aircraft,” National Transportation Safety Board official Debra Eckrote said Saturday as she spoke with media about the theft of Horizon Air Q400. . .

Russell had a security clearance that allowed him access to the planes, but lacked a license to fly it.

“He did say he spent a lot of time with video games,” said Mark Rosenker, a former chairman of the NTSB, told CBS News. “There are video games that deal with a simulation of this aircraft. And the fidelity is amazing. You could learn a great deal from playing these types of games.”

Witnesses filmed the plane performing barrel rolls and loop-the-loops during a 90-minute joyride. Military planes pursued the plane, chasing it away from highly-populated areas. The plan flew toward Ketron Island where it crashed into a ball of fire, reports state. At one point, he flew the plane upside-down.
