Bernie Sanders Takes Aim at Disney, Gives Us a Look Into What His America Would Look Like

By Bizpac Review. City officials with the California town of Anaheim blasted failed Democrat presidential candidate and socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders this Saturday after he rallied with Disneyland workers to demand higher wages for them.

“While touting himself as a friend of the working man, Bernie has come all this way to support a measure that will result in thousands of lost jobs for the people of Anaheim,” Todd Ament, the CEO of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, reportedly said in a written statement.

Sponsored by a coalition of local unions, the November ballot measure referenced by Ament would force Disney and other large employers that accept “subsidies” from Anaheim to pay their employees a minimum of $15 an hour starting in 2019. They would then be required to raise their minimum wage by $1 per year until 2022.

Sanders made it clear during a speech at Saturday’s rally that he fervently supports this initiative: “The struggle that you are waging here in Anaheim is not just for you. It is a struggle for millions of workers all across this country who are sick and tired of working longer hours for lower wages,” he said. . .

The casual dining franchise Red Robin laid off hundreds of workers earlier this year in response to minimum wage hikes in localities across the country. Three years ago the coffeehouse chain Dunkin’ Donuts likewise began shuttering 100 locations because of minimum wage increases. Bernie Sanders: Disney Needs ‘Moral Defense’ for Having Hungry Workers While Making Billions

By The Hill. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) lambasted Walt Disney Co. on Saturday for making billions of dollars in profits while failing to pay workers “a living wage.”

At a rally in Anaheim, Calif., Sanders demanded a “moral defense” for Disney and other billion-dollar corporations that pay their executives high salaries but have made efforts to avoid raising other workers’ salaries.

“I want to hear the moral defense of a company that makes $9 billion in profits, $400 million for their CEOs and have a 30-year worker going hungry,” Sanders told the crowd.

“The struggle that you are waging here in Anaheim is not just for you,” Sanders said. “It is a struggle for millions of workers all across this country who are sick and tired of working longer hours for lower wages.”

Sanders was joined on stage by members of a coalition of unions that had gathered about 21,000 signatures to qualify for the November municipal ballot that seeks to require large employers who receive government subsidies to maintain a $15 minimum wage. Bernie Addresses Anti-Gun Teenagers… While Surrounded by Armed Guards

On Wednesday, Bernie Sanders, who has captured the imagination of impressionable, gullible teenagers and young adults with his paeans to socialism, decided to seize the moment and join students who left their high schools to demonstrate in favor of gun control.

As would be expected, there were calls to ban guns outright:

Sanders himself has constantly hedged his bets regarding guns; on the one hand, he said in 2016, “Do I think the victims of a crime with a gun should be able to sue the manufacturer? No, I don’t.” (Read more from “Bernie Addresses Anti-Gun Teenagers… While Surrounded by Armed Guards” HERE)

Trump, Sanders Clash on Twitter Over New Tax Law

It was a holiday weekend, but President Donald Trump and rival Bernie Sanders didn’t exactly exchange greeting cards.

Instead, the political foes clashed via Twitter over the nation’s new tax legislation, which Trump signed into law Friday.

“Today, it was my great honor to sign the largest TAX CUTS and reform in the history of our country,” the president tweeted, soon after signing the $1.5 trillion bill . . .

Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, prefaced his weekend tweets by posing a question Thursday.

“Doesn’t it tell us a lot about Republican priorities,” Sanders asked, “when the tax breaks for corporations are permanent, while the tax cuts for working families expire at the end of 8 years?”

Bernie Sanders’ Wife’s Land Deal Still Under FBI Probe; Witness Recently Questioned

A federal investigation launched in 2016 into possible bank fraud by Jane Sanders, wife of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, is still underway — with “a potential” grand jury review possible.

The probe could thwart Sanders’ 2020 presidential ambitions — as well as the Vermont political plans of Jane Sanders’ daughter, Carina Driscoll.

Individuals questioned by the FBI confirmed to Fox News that the investigation was still open, with FBI agents interviewing at least one witness within the last six weeks.

Jane Sanders is under investigation following a land deal she clinched when she was president of Burlington College in Vermont in 2010.

In order to expand the college, Sanders sought to obtain a tract of land from a Roman Catholic parish. She secured a $6.7 million loan from a bank and a $3.6 million loan from the parish from which she planned to purchase the property. Guess How Much Sanders’ Campaign Is in Debt

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign currently owes a disputed $450,000 to the various municipalities the Vermont lawmaker visited throughout the race.

Sanders’ campaign has reportedly failed to make good on hundreds of thousands of dollars in event security costs owed to dozens of cities and their police departments.

Bernie Sanders Compares GOP Health Care Bill to Terrorist Attack

In just the latest sign that he has no intention of calming down his political rhetoric, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders compared House Republicans’ health care bill to a terrorist attack.

“Now obviously nobody can predict exactly how many people will die if they lose their coverage. Nobody can make that prediction,” Sanders said at a rally in West Virginia on Sunday. “But what experts at the Harvard School of Public Health estimate, is that if 23 million Americans were to be thrown off the insurance they currently have, which is what the House bill would do, up to, up to 28,000 Americans every single year could die.”

The socialist senator proceeded to compare the bill to the September 11th terrorist attacks: “That is nine times more than the tragic losses we suffered on 9/11, every single year.”

Bernie Sanders Continues Dodging Questions on FBI Investigation Into His Wife

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” Thursday, receiving pressure from an FBI investigation into him and his wife, Jane Sanders, regarding whether the couple abused their power to commit bank fraud and secure a $10 million loan.

Sanders’ wife is accused of falsifying the loan application while serving as President of the Burlington College to secure funds for a campus expansion. The college only generated an annual endowment of $4 million, and it inevitably went bankrupt. Jane Sanders hired two high-priced attorneys last week from Washington to represent her in the case. The media largely ignored the issue during last year’s presidential primary, but The Daily Caller News Foundation closely followed the situation in March 2015.

Hayes confirmed that Bernie Sanders and his wife had retained legal counsel, and asked point blank if he had abused his senatorial power to obtain the loan.

“And do you know where that allegation came from? That allegation came from the vice-chairman of the Vermont Republican party and Donald Trump’s Vermont campaign state director,” Bernie Sanders replied. “That is an absolute lie.” (Read more from “Bernie Sanders Continues Dodging Questions on FBI Investigation Into His Wife” HERE)

Trump Nominee Not Hindered by Bernie Sanders’ Religious Litmus Test

No thanks to Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., President Donald Trump’s pick for the Office of Management and Budget is one step closer to his new job.

After a faith-based grilling that left Sanders red-faced and Americans in shock, Russell Vought’s nomination squeaked out of the Senate’s Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee by the narrowest of margins, 8-7.

The hearings caught the country’s attention when Sanders made the case that Christians like Vought are unfit for public office—even in jobs that have nothing to do with faith.

While Sanders fired shot after shot at the Office of Management and Budget’s soon-to-be second-in-command, Vought was the picture of poise, explaining that he thinks everyone has inherent dignity, even if they don’t agree with him that Jesus is the only way to salvation.

Americans need an alternative to the mainstream media. But this can’t be done alone. Find out more >>

It was a surreal scene for anyone watching, especially since Vought’s convictions—not his qualifications—were Sanders’ main concerns.

Like many in the media who were taken aback, National Review’s Ian Tuttle explains how the left’s religion of non-religion is unfairly influencing politics.

There is a long and stupid tradition of believing that the American right threatens to impose an evangelical Christian theocracy on the United States—that every Republican lawmaker is looking to erect an official church and make women cover their ankles. In reality, it is the proudly irreligious left that has smuggled religious debates back into our politics. It is the unabashedly secular left that has knocked down the ‘wall of separation’ and made the afterlife an immanent political issue.

Fortunately, plenty of others piled on, including the Conservative Action Project (which released this letter demanding that liberals stop their religious intolerance) and Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla.

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma leader fired back at Sanders’ religious test.

There was some dispute in a different hearing about Russell Vought and his faith and this came up in a budget meeting about is he too much of a Christian to be able to serve. I just want to make a public statement that that’s appalling to me that that became part of the debate at the dais that someone made a statement that because he was strong in his Christian faith he was not qualified to serve.

Article XI of the Constitution says there’s no religious test for any officer of the United States and that shouldn’t even have been a discussion in that committee hearing. I’m glad that wasn’t a discussion or a consideration here, but it is one of the things that we should not evaluate people. He’s in an economics position. It doesn’t matter if he’s Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, or no faith at all. We’re faith-neutral. And so I’m grateful that was not an issue for any of us and I would hope that’s not a growing trend for us as a body.

Disclosure: Russ Vought’s wife, Mary Vought, works for The Heritage Foundation, the parent organization of The Daily Signal. Russ Vought was formerly employed by Heritage Action for America, the think tank’s lobbying affiliate.

Why the Near-GOP Massacre? Look at Bernie Volunteer’s Facebook Postings, History of Democratic Party

Yesterday, a left-wing Democrat decided to take the Left’s vicious narrative to the next level, opening fire at a group of Republican representatives and senators practicing for a charity baseball game they hold annually with Capitol Hill Democrats. Four congressmen, staff, and security personnel were injured in the shootout at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia, across the river from Washington, D.C.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), the third-highest ranking member of the leadership in the House of Representatives, was shot, but fortunately he had two U.S. Capitol Police officers accompanying him – the only armed presence in the ballpark. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who was at the baseball practice, said that if Scalise’s security detail hadn’t been there, “it would have been a massacre.”

As of 5 p.m. Eastern time, Scalise was listed in critical condition at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The lawmaker underwent surgery. According to updated reports, the bullet caused extensive internal damage and more surgeries will be necessary. Lobbyist Matthew Mika, who was participating in the practice, was listed in critical condition at George Washington University Hospital.

During a presser a half hour later, FBI agent Tim Slater acknowledged five people were shot, including the alleged shooter. A congressman and a Capitol Police officer suffered “secondary injuries” and were transferred to local hospitals and treated, he added.

The shooter, now identified as James T. Hodgkinson, of Belleville, Illinois, died of injuries sustained during his shootout with police. He was an ardent Democrat and Bernie Sanders supporter, who championed socialism. He volunteered on the Sanders presidential campaign last year.

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) told reporters he encountered the man who turned out to be the shooter when he attended the practice. Hodgkinson asked him if the team there was Republicans or Democrats, Duncan said. The lawmaker says he told him they were Republicans and the man thanked him. Duncan then drove away and did not witness the shooting incident.

His wife says he had moved to Alexandria two months ago, but she did not explain why. Hodgkinson had apparently been living out of his car and reconnoitering the field since his arrival in the Virginia city. When his photo was published after the attack, Alexandria resident Stephen Brennwald recognized him as someone who regularly appeared mornings at the YMCA adjacent to the field where the attack occurred. Brennwald became suspicious of Hodgkinson, saying: “He never worked out. He never talked to anybody. He never did anything. He’d just sit there and stare at his laptop.” Brennwald said, adding that he often stared out the window, with “this kind of faraway stare.”

Shortly prior to moving, Hodgkinson’s Illinois neighbors also report that he had practiced shooting on his property but was told to stop by local police after the neighbors complained. Media reports state that Hodgkinson had been living in his personal vehicle in Alexandria.

A Facebook page in Hodgkinson’s name contained multiple posts demonizing President Donald Trump. The pages have now been removed from Facebook, but I was able to get numerous screen shots before that happened. Following is a sampling:

Earlier posts show his adamant support for Bernie Sanders and his hatred of the GOP generally and Donald Trump in particular. His most recent Facebook posts, from two days ago, suggest his mindset:

Hodgkinson’s twitter account is apparently @JTHInspections. Another one, @jimhodgkinson, may be a fake as the background photo has changed. Earlier it featured a picture of a younger Trump with Vladimir Putin photoshopped in next to him. Now it simply says “Trump is a pig.”

Are we really surprised by this attack? We shouldn’t be. The Democrats have been agitating relentlessly for just such a thing. There has been a constant, relentless drum roll of hatred toward the GOP, Trump family members, Trump cabinet members, and Trump supporters. Consider a tiny sampling of the outrageous remarks and behavior:

· Shakespeare in the Park: Donald Trump as Julius Caesar knifed in the back

· Kathy Griffin gaining notoriety with a fake beheaded Donald Trump

· Antifa communists physically attacking Trump supporters in the streets

· Leftist radicals torching UC Berkeley campus to protest Breitbart speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos

· Virginia GOP Rep. Tom Garrett and his family received repeated death threats · Arizona GOP Rep. Martha McSally, who was told “Your days are numbered,” by 58-year-old Democrat Steve Martan. “Martha, our sights are set on you”, he said, “Right between your f****** eyes.”

Former Secret Service agent and GOP candidate Dan Bongino says, “The Left has gone mad with rage… If it’s normalizing violence against him, if it’s using outrageous, outlandish language, if it’s making up false crimes against him like the Trump/Russia fairy tale, the conspiracy theory; they don’t care. They’ve lost any moral bedrock.”

Hodgkinson’s Facebook page contains one photo of himself. Interestingly, the one comment the photo received was from Lindy Lee, a former candidate for Congress, who gave the photo a thumbs-up.

Lee’s Facebook pages display a who’s who of the Democratic Party:

While there is no indication that Lee had any inkling of Hodgkinson’s intentions, and none is implied here, there is nothing new about mainstream Democrats aligning themselves with violent extremists. Indeed, as James O’Keefe proved in a series of undercover videos last year, violence and subversion is part and parcel of the Democrats’ game plan. Jamie Glazov of the Glazov Gang has produced a documentary about this propensity for violence entitled, ” United in Hate: The Left’s Romance With Tyranny and Terror.”

The most notorious case involves Jim Jones, an avowed communist and cult leader in the jungles of Guyana who in 1978 murdered his 909 followers (including 303 children), a U.S. congressman and four others before committing suicide himself. Prior to taking his “People’s Temple” into the jungle, he was endorsed by Democrat heavyweights. This included first lady Rosalynn Carter, Vice President Walter Mondale, HEW Secretary Joseph Califano, California Gov. Jerry Brown and his lieutenant governor Mervyn Dymally, five members of the U.S. Senate, 11 members of the House of Representatives, the mayor of San Francisco and one of the city’s former mayors, and the mayor of Gary, Indiana.

The fake news was at it even then, describing Jones as a religious extremist. In an article titled “When Religious Beliefs Become Evil: 4 Signs,” CNN characterized Jones as “a gifted speaker who built an interracial church in San Francisco that did much good in the community.” CNN never mentioned his avowed communism, atheism, and his close connection to the Democratic Party. Until his behavior became politically inconvenient, however, Jones was a leftist hero.

Forget introspection. True to form, the Democrats wasted no time in turning today’s shooting into a political issue. Terry McAuliffe, the serially corrupt governor of Virginia, offered a pitch for gun control, throwing in some massively dumb whoppers along the way. A mere two hours after the shooting CNN recorded him saying:

“There are too many guns on the street…”

and, are you ready for this?

“We lose 93 million Americans a day to gun violence…”

93 million!

Then he goes on to mention the need for “background checks” [Editor: we already have them], “shutting down gun show loopholes” [Editor: there is no such thing]… And he repeats the 93 million people a day claim again before ending. A reporter helps him by suggesting 93 million is a big number. McAuliffe corrects himself, saying it’s actually 93 a day.

If we want an explanation for today’s violence, look no further than the Democratic Party and its leftist agitators, attempting as we speak, to, in their own words, “make America ungovernable.” Their constant provocations and vilification create a justification in the minds of the many unstable among them who are already inclined to take matters into their own hands.

While Democrats have rapidly disassociated themselves from today’s events, their daily barrage of hatred virtually guarantees this kind of thing will happen again. The Southern Poverty Law Center, which specializes in fomenting hatred for conservatives, acknowledged today that the shooter “liked” their Facebook page. SPLC hyped a fake news story about Scalise and the KKK. This recalls Floyd Corkins, the homosexual activist that used SPLC “hate” rhetoric against the Family Research Council as an excuse for his attempted shooting rampage. FRC is still on SPLC’s Hatewatch list and SPLC has not apologized for its smear of Scalise. So much for Democrat contrition.

US Senators: Christian Beliefs Make You Unfit for Public Office

Earlier this week, Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Van Hollen attacked Trump’s nominee for the White House Office of Budget and Management, Russ Vought. I met Russ when he and Sen. Mia Costello (R-Anchorage) and I went through the Claremont Institute’s Lincoln Fellowship together, back in 2011. His wife is from the Mat-Su. She worked for Vice President Mike Pence when he served in Congress, and had the audacity as a woman to defend him—and in the Washington Post no less.

In short, Russ is exactly the kind of person you would expect to see appointed by a Republican President to a White House staff position, and therefore the kind of person that progressive politicians love to hate. So what do they do when faced with a man with impeccable conservative credentials? They attack him for being a Christian.

Now, wait, you say: “We live in America. We have the U.S. Constitution, which forbids public officials from attacking a presidential appointee for their religious beliefs.” Yes, of course we do. And for 229 years, at least this portion of that Constitution, was largely respected.

But we live in different times today. In 2017, no portion of that Constitution is sacrosanct from attack by progressive politicians, not even the portion that guarantees Americans the right to hold whatever religious belief they choose. As Albert Einstein predicted long ago:

“The strength of the Constitution lies entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. Only if every single citizen feels duty bound to do his share in this defense are the constitutional rights secure.”

And if progressive Democrats and their friends could prevent Trump from nominating 41% of Americans to office simply because of their Christian beliefs, that would certainly be a political victory that would move forward their progressive agenda. In Sanders’ America, there is no need for religious freedom. Progressives in government will let you know what you are permitted to believe, by attacking those who hold any religious beliefs that don’t support their agenda.

If criticizing Christian or Jewish beliefs supports the progressive agenda, loyal progressives will be there to defend the right to criticize. If criticizing Islamic dogmas hurts the progressive agenda, loyal progressives will condemn the “haters” for their “hate speech”. Just remember, hate speech is whatever opposes their agenda. And whatever supports their agenda is wildflowers and rainbows—I mean, “worthy of tolerance.”

Let’s not kid ourselves about what the world just saw this week in the Vought confirmation hearing. A man was told that he has a disease, that he is “Islamophobic” and unworthy of holding public office; that Senator Sanders would vote to reject his appointment to the White House, because he actually believes what Jesus said, and supported the right of the Christian college that he graduated from to continue to teach that Christianity is true. It’s the “Christianity is true” part that has the progressives in a tizzy. It’s not PC to believe in truth. It’s not PC to believe what’s in the Bible. And even if it was, it’s certainly not PC to admit to it in public. Silence is what is demanded. And if you aren’t silent, you will be attacked, just like Russ Vought.

Which leads me to conclude that Albert Einstein is right, and that we each have an important part to play in doing our share to defend the constitutional rights of Americans. Letting politicians and judges do it for us was never an option. Letting progressives do it for us is simply suicidal.

Rep. David Eastman is a conservative legislator in Alaska, representing the rural Mat-Su Valley (House District 10); He ran on a platform of fighting for genuine conservative reform, fiscally and socially, and remains committed to delivering on that promise.
