Battleground State Removes Non-Citizens Improperly Registered After Investigation

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose ordered the state’s voter rolls to be purged of “non-citizens” Tuesday after a review found more than 100 Ohio residents who were registered to vote despite lacking U.S. citizenship.

An investigation by Ohio’s Public Integrity Division analyzed data from the state’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles and found 137 people who appeared on voter rolls despite twice confirming they were not U.S. citizens. Ohio law requires that in order for a person to be removed from voter rolls, they must have confirmed their lack of citizenship to the BMV on two separate occasions, and also have updated their voter registration or voted in between the two occasions.

“These individuals will receive at least two written notices from the Secretary of State’s office asking them to confirm their citizenship status or cancel their registration. Failure to respond to these notices will result in removal of the registration from the voter rolls by the county boards of elections,” LaRose’s office told Fox News Digital in a statement.

The improper voter registration could result in prosecution for some, but LaRose cautioned that not all instances are criminal.

“It’s important to recognize that some of these registrations may be the result of an honest mistake,” LaRose said. “These may be well-meaning people trying to pursue the American dream, and communication barriers sometimes result in a registration form being submitted in error. We need to help them get that cleared up before an accidental registration becomes an illegal vote that could result in a felony conviction or even deportation.” (Read more from “Battleground State Removes Non-Citizens Improperly Registered After Investigation” HERE)

GOP Governor Sounds Alarm on Biden Admin’s Proposal for Air National Guard, Space Force

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott opposed a proposal that could shift members of the Air National Guard to roles in the Space Force without the consent of their respective governors.

In a letter to President Biden, Abbott, who has clashed with the commander in chief on a number of matters, said the proposal is an “intolerable threat” to the National Guard.

“That proposal would give the Secretary of the Air Force unilateral authority to transfer Air National Guard units to the Space Force — without first obtaining gubernatorial consent,” Abbott wrote in the May 3 letter. . .

The Republican governor argued the measure would sideline governors as the commanders in chief of the National Guard in each state and U.S. territory.

“By departing from this sensible arrangement, and allowing the Secretaries to dismantle National Guard units on a whim, Legislative Proposal 480 would set a dangerous precedent,” he added. “Members of the Texas National Guard must always stand ready to respond to natural disasters, civil disturbances, and cartel activity that threaten our way of life.” (Read more from “GOP Governor Sounds Alarm on Biden Admin’s Proposal for Air National Guard, Space Force” HERE)

400,000 Migrants Flown to U.S. Under Biden Parole Program ‘Likely Staying Here Forever’: Experts

The roughly 400,000 migrants allowed into the US under the Biden administration’s Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan [CHVN] parole program will most likely stay in the US indefinitely, several experts told The Post

The program first began in October 2022 for Venezuelans and was expanded in November 2023 to allow 30,000 migrants per month to enter the US for up to two years “for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”

Department of Homeland Security data revealed 400,000 migrants have taken advantage of the program by the end of February.

Immigration experts say the huge influx — equivalent to 1,000 people per day — are unlikely to simply go home at the end of the two year parole period.

“They’re overwhelming the system [which] more than likely will result in these people staying here forever,” Donald Trump’s former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan told The Post. Six States Sue Biden Admin Over New Title IX Protections for Biological Men in Girls’ Sports

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti and Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced on Tuesday that they are leading six states in suing the Department of Education (ED) due to the overhaul of Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act.

Court documents show that the lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

The Biden administration has unveiled new rules aimed at safeguarding LGBTQ+ students and changing the ways in which sexual harassment and assault claims are adjudicated on campus.

Skrmetti and Coleman are targeting new provisions that are part of a revised Title IX regulation issued by the ED, fulfilling a campaign pledge by President Biden to revamp those issued during the Trump administration.

“The U.S. Department of Education has no authority to let boys into girls’ locker rooms,” Tennessee Attorney General Skrmetti said in a statement. (Read more from “Six States Sue Biden Admin Over New Title IX Protections for Biological Men in Girls’ Sports” HERE)

Most Migrants Paroled Under Biden Administration Are Flying to This State, Subpoenaed Docs Show

The bulk of migrants who qualify for the Biden administration’s mass parole program are flying into Florida, subpoenaed documents released Tuesday by the House Homeland Security Committee show.

Under President Biden’s controversial border policy, migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti and Venezuela who obtain a US sponsor, pass a background check and demonstrate that parole is warranted based on significant public benefit or urgent humanitarian reasons are allowed to fly into US ports of entry, where they will receive work permits and authorization to remain in the country for two years. . .

The documents from DHS obtained by the House Homeland Security Committee cover some 200,000 migrant arrivals over a period from January-August 2023. . .

The House panel said the DHS documents also revealed that there were some 1.6 million migrants waiting for approval to fly into the US via the parole program, as of October 2023. (Read more from “Most Migrants Paroled Under Biden Administration Are Flying to This State, Subpoenaed Docs Show” HERE)

States Reject Biden’s ‘Illegal’ and ‘Unconstitutional’ Title IX Rewrite

Florida and Oklahoma have instructed their schools to reject implementation of new Title IX rules proposed by the Biden administration that allow males “identifying” as females to invade women’s spaces.

“We are not going to let Joe Biden try to inject men into women’s activities,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a Thursday video statement. “We will not comply.”

As my colleague Jordan Boyd previously reported, the new guidelines released by the Education Department last week “effectively erase protections for sex-based spaces by expanding the Title IX prohibition against sex discrimination to include ‘gender identity’ — a term that’s never mentioned in the original law.” This means that men proclaiming to be women will be permitted to use female-only spaces such as locker rooms and sororities and participate in female-only sports leagues.

The rules — which are set to take effect on Aug. 1 — also repeal existing free speech protections, parental rights, and safeguards for individuals accused of sexual assault.

DeSantis’ comments came a day after Florida Commissioner on Education Manny Diaz Jr. penned a letter stating that “no educational institution [in the state] should begin implementing any changes” to Title IX put forward by the Biden administration. Diaz argued that the federal government’s reimagining of the law is an “attempt to gaslight the country into believing that biological sex no longer has any meaning.” (Read more from “States Reject Biden’s ‘Illegal’ and ‘Unconstitutional’ Title IX Rewrite” HERE)

Report: Biden Backtracks on Menthol Cigarette Ban Due to Concerns of Angering Black Voters

President Joe Biden has reportedly canceled a plan to ban menthol cigarettes after his administration feared that banning them could cause black voters to revolt against the president ahead of the upcoming election.

The Wall Street Journal reported that menthols account for roughly a third of all cigarette sales in the U.S. and that black people are overwhelmingly the largest consumers of the product.

Activist groups believe that by banning menthol cigarettes, there will be an explosion in black market sales of the product, which they claim will lead to racial profiling by law enforcement.

“This rule has garnered historic attention and the public comment period has yielded an immense amount of feedback, including from various elements of the civil rights and criminal justice movement,” said Xavier Becerra, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. “It’s clear that there are still more conversations to have, and that will take significantly more time.”

The Journal reported that the administration pulled back on its plan as it considered the “political repercussions” of banning the product as Biden is significantly “underperforming with Black voters, especially Black men.” (Read more from “Report: Biden Backtracks on Menthol Cigarette Ban Due to Concerns of Angering Black Voters” HERE)

How the Biden Admin Enables Government Employees to Change Genders

The Biden administration has set out to encourage gender transition attempts among federal bureaucrats, establishing gender transition support plans, holding trainings pushing Left-wing gender ideology, and even telling federal employees that referring to someone by biologically accurate pronouns is discrimination.

In a document published by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), effectively the human resources department of the federal government, the Biden administration commanded federal agencies to embed “gender identity inclusion practices” throughout the bureaucracy.

Titled “Guidance Regarding Gender Identity and Inclusion in the Federal Workplace,” the document was published on “transgender day of visibility,” March 31, and it instructs agencies to “take actions to ensure that all Federal employees have their respective gender identities accurately reflected and identified in the workplace.” The document specifically tells the federal bureaucracy to ensure that name and pronoun changes are respected, warning that those who use “incorrect” terms might “contribute to an unlawful hostile work environment.”

It also directs agencies to host gender identity trainings, saying they should “take steps to implement or increase the availability of training programs on gender identity and inclusion in the Federal workplace for employees, managers, and leadership.”

While the OPM document further formalizes the Biden administration’s support of transgenderism, numerous federal agencies have already established policies to encourage transgenderism in the federal workforce. The Department of the Interior (DOI), for example, published a document called “Supporting Gender Transition in the Federal Workplace” that lays out how the federal agency will offer support to bureaucrats who are attempting to change their sex. ‘Grotesque … Betrayal of Students’: Critics Blast Biden’s New Title IX Regulations Championing ‘Gender Identity’

On Friday, the Biden administration released its new Title IX regulations, and its strictures engendered anger and outrage for those defending traditional values.

The document, which runs over 1,500 pages, states that the Department of Education “disagrees with the contention that including sexual orientation and gender identity in the scope of §106.10 harms women. Recognizing these bases of sex discrimination under Title IX in no way lessens the force of Title IX’s protections against discrimination that limits educational opportunities for girls and women. Further, discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity is typically motivated by the same sex stereotypes that limit opportunities for women regardless of whether they identify as LGBTQI+.” . . .

Nicole Neily, President of Parents Defending Education, also responded to the new regulations:

It is grotesque that the White House has chosen to capitulate to extremists in his party, sacrificing the First Amendment on the altar of Title IX and disregarding clearly established Supreme Court precedent on the definition of sexual harassment. Extending Title IX to cover gender identity means that schools will no longer have discretion over whether – or how – to provide certain services and activities to students on the basis of self-declared gender identity.

Title IX was written in 1972 when “sex” meant male and female, and no amount of interpretive jiujitsu permits a cabinet agency to rewrite the plain language of the law. Efforts to do so have failed repeatedly in Congress for one simple reason: such an expansion of law is deeply unpopular, with opposition to these changes spanning both political and racial lines. This betrayal of students will not soon be forgotten by American parents, and we look forward to suing the Administration over this policy soon.

How States Are Punching Back on Biden’s Federal Election Takeover

During a conference call with White House officials, top state election officials wanted to know how the Biden administration intended to implement its government-backed get-out-the-vote effort in 2024.

The White House answer essentially was that “those plans are not public and they never intended for them to be public,” according to two secretaries of state who were on the call last week.

“The sad part is, that answer should have been a surprise but it wasn’t,” Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson, a Republican, told The Daily Signal.

Secretaries of state typically are their states’ chief election officials. Their growing frustration comes as more than two dozen state lawmakers in Pennsylvania, a major battleground state, ask the Supreme Court to block President Joe Biden’s executive order to increase voter registration.

Mississippi’s Watson noted that in 2020, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife spent $400 million for election administration grants targeting key jurisdictions that would drive up the Democrat vote. (Read more from “How States Are Punching Back on Biden’s Federal Election Takeover” HERE)
