County in California to Require Masks in Private Homes

Santa Cruz County, California, is imposing an indoor mask mandate beginning Sunday night which requires residents to wear masks in private settings, including homes, regardless of vaccination status.

The mandate applies to gatherings of those who live in a different homes but meet together in one location, and it was imposed in light of rising COVID-19 cases in the area, according to ABC 7.

Bay Area COVID-19 cases are still lower than they were during summer surges, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. “Unfortunately, a potential winter surge appears to be a significant threat to the health and safety of our community,” said Dr. Gail Newel, Santa Cruz County’s health officer, according to the Chronicle. Liberal Teacher Upset About ‘F**K Biden Flag’ Tells Students to ‘Jump off a Bridge’

A California teacher told students in a conservative club to “jump off a bridge” after the students waved a “F*** Biden” flag during a Veterans Day event.

Kristin Usilton, a teacher at Bauer Speck Elementary School, posted a video to her Instagram account , which has since been deleted, criticizing a Paso Robles High School Conservative Club demonstration at a Veterans Day event, according to the Paso Robles Press.

“The Paso Robles Conservative Club for the high school, you can go jump off a bridge,” Usilton said in the video. “I’m going to post what they thought was a great show of support for the veterans, who I’m pretty sure would be absolutely offended by what they did on school campus.”

Students from the high school’s conservative club waved a variety of flags during an event on Nov. 10 meant to celebrate U.S. veterans, according to the Tribune . Besides the “F*** Biden” flag, the club had an American flag, a “Trump 2020” flag, and a Gadsden flag.

“Had the LGBTQ population done that or the black or Hispanic community members, we would have had our ass chewed out,” Usilton said. “Look at what they did today.” (Read more from “Liberal Teacher Upset About ‘F**K Biden Flag’ Tells Students to ‘Jump off a Bridge'” HERE)

Another High-Profile Dem Announces Retirement Ahead of Midterms

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) announced Tuesday she will not seek reelection in 2022, becoming the latest high-profile Democrat to retire from politics as the party seeks to hold on to narrow majorities in the House and Senate next year.

“It’s time for me to come home,” said Speier in a Twitter video announcing her decision.

Speier, who has been a member of Congress since 2008, recalled the 1978 assassination of Rep. Leo Ryan (D-Calif.) by followers of cult leader Jim Jones shortly before the infamous mass murder-suicide of Jones’ followers. Speier, then a Ryan staffer, was shot five times but survived.

“Forty-three years ago this week, I was lying on an airstrip in the jungles of Guyana with five bullet holes in my body,” Speier said. “I vowed that if I survived, I would dedicate my life to public service.”

“It has been a remarkable journey that has surpassed my wildest dreams,” she added. “Today, I’m announcing that I will not be a candidate for reelection to Congress in 2022.” (Read more from “Another High-Profile Dem Announces Retirement Ahead of Midterms” HERE)

California Shuts Down Second In-N-Out Location for Defying Extreme COVID Rules

Northern California health officials shut down another In-N-Out Burger restaurant location Tuesday for allowing indoor dining without checking patrons for proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

Contra Costa County suspended the permit of the In-N-Out located at 570 Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill after the business received an additional two citations. The In-N-Out locations in Pinole and San Ramon also each received violation notices Tuesday for violating the vaccine order.

“We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government,” Arnie Wensinger, In-N-Out’s chief legal and business officer, shot back in a statement reacting to the most recent closure, categorizing the move by county officials as “intrusive, improper, and offensive” government overreach.

“It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant Associates to segregate Customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason,” he said. “We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business.” . . .

This comes about two weeks after another In-N-Out Burger located in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Warf was shut down for allowing indoor dining without checking for proof of vaccination. The local ordinance in San Francisco, which is among the strictest in the state, does not allow patrons to show a negative test in lieu of vaccination proof. That In-N-Out location has since reopened for outdoor dining. (Read more from “California Shuts Down Second In-N-Out Location for Defying Extreme COVID Rules” HERE)

State Bans Small Gas Engines, Including Mowers, Chainsaws

California took another step toward its goal of ridding the state of all gas-powered engines thanks to a new bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday.

The new law will ban the sale of all off-road, gas-powered engines, including generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, and even golf carts. Under the new law , these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“This is a pretty modest approach to trying to limit the massive amounts of pollution that this equipment emits, not to mention the health impact on the workers who are using it constantly,” Marc Berman, the bill’s author, told the outlet. “It’s amazing how people react when they learn how much this equipment pollutes, and how much smog forming and climate changing emissions that small off-road engine equipment creates.”

The new law is expected to affect nearly 50,000 small businesses . California’s budget includes $30 million to help professional landscapers and gardeners quit using gas-powered equipment, but even then, the budget is still not capable of bearing the full financial burden. Despite Enacting Child Vaccine Mandate, Newsom Admits His Daughter Isn’t Vaxxed

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is embroiled in another controversy accusing him of hypocrisy surrounding his own COVID-19 orders. The California governor admitted that his daughter is not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 despite enacting a sweeping mandate requiring students to get the coronavirus vaccine. . .

Newsom’s firstborn child with second wife Jennifer Siebel turned 12 on Sept. 18.

On Oct. 1, Newsom announced a vaccine mandate for children age 12 and over to attend in-person classes at public or private schools in California. The required vaccination won’t go into effect until the FDA fully approves the COVID-19 vaccine, and removes the EUA. The mandate, which is the first of its kind in the United States, likely would go into effect next year — as early as January. . .

Despite enacting an order requiring all children 12-years-old and up to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Newsom admitted that his 12-year-old daughter has yet to get the shot.

The Democratic governor told the Los Angeles Times last week that his 12-year-old daughter has not yet received the COVID-19 because she has “a series of other shots” to get first. (Read more from “Despite Enacting Child Vaccine Mandate, Newsom Admits His Daughter Isn’t Vaxxed” HERE)

California Students Are Still Stranded in Afghanistan

In August, as the Biden administration began what would become a chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, we learned that some California students and their families were stuck in the country.

San Diego County students who had been unable to flee first made headlines. Then, it was discovered that Sacramento-area students were in the same predicament. The last U.S. planes departed around midnight Aug. 30, though not every American citizen was able to make it aboard.

Although the San Diego students’ situation was the most discussed, there appear to be more students from around Sacramento still in Afghanistan. The situation is ever-changing, but here’s what I was able to find out about the remaining students:

There are dozens of Sacramento-area families still in the country, according to the San Juan Unified School District. Recently, three families — including seven students — made it back to the U.S. But about 38 students are still there. . .

The nearby Sacramento City Unified School District told The Times that an Afghan immigrant family with three children enrolled at Ethel I. Baker Elementary sought help in fleeing. The students have not yet returned to the school. (Read more from “California Students Are Still Stranded in Afghanistan” HERE)

Liberal State to Mandate COVID-19 Vaccine for School Kids

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Friday announced that the state will mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for all students in school, once it is fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Newsom said the mandate would begin with older children, age 12 and over, in grades 7-12. But it will not take effect right away, given that he is waiting until the FDA gives full approval to the vaccine in that age group, rather than the current emergency use authorization. The mandate could either begin in the January school term or in Fall of 2022, depending on when the FDA acts.

“I believe we will be the first state in America to move forward with this mandate and requirement, but I do not believe by any stretch of the imagination we will be the last state,” Newsom told reporters at a press conference.

He said there would be medical and religious exemptions to the mandate.

The move to mandate vaccines for students in schools comes as the Biden administration makes a push for vaccine mandates more generally, including a rule requiring businesses with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is vaccinated. California Voters Get What They Deserve

The nation’s largest state has just voted in an election triggered by one of the nation’s weirdest recall processes — and the results have come out just about where they’ve been before.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom was elected governor in 2018 by 62% to 38%, a result that was, unsurprisingly in an era of straight-ticket voting and strong partisan allegiance, almost identical to Joe Biden’s 64% to 34% over Donald Trump in 2020.

As of this writing — and it has taken California weeks to count its votes in recent general elections — incomplete returns show 64% of Californians against recalling Newsom and only 36% in favor of removing him from office.

That result makes the second question on the ballot, who shall replace the governor, irrelevant. But it did enable Democrats to spend enormous sums characterizing Larry Elder, the conservative radio talk host who led in polls on the replacement question, as a clone of Trump. . .

Newsom’s success is good news for Democrats. Polls over the summer showed as many as 47% of voters supporting recall. When voters focused on facts, such as the growing homeless encampments and the rapidly rising numbers of homicides and carjackings, they found reason to repudiate the liberal policies that Newsom has pursued or supported. Black CA Gubernatorial Recall Election Candidate Accused of Being ‘a Soldier for White Supremacy’

In an opinion piece published by theGrio, writer and podcaster Touré asserts that conservative talk radio host Larry Elder, who is currently running in California’s gubernatorial recall election, is a “a soldier for white supremacy.”

Touré says that the candidate “is, like so many Republicans, espousing a heartless, anti-Black agenda that would be devastating for millions of Black people,” and the “agenda relies on the notion that Black people are lazy and without character and that the poor’s biggest problem is help from the state.”

If elected, Elder would become the Golden State’s first black governor.

Here’s more from Touré’s piece published on theGrio:

Elder is a soldier for white supremacy. He’s providing cover for racists, using his skin to deflect charges that they are racist. He’s helping racists seem less racist as they push ideas that would be devastating to Black people — and are built on lies about Black people. When people tell you that Black people cannot be racist, tell them that they are wrong. Black people like Larry Elder are the voice of racist ideas, they are helping racists do their work, and therefore they too are racist.
