Capitol Riot Committee Subpoenas Michael Flynn and Five Other Trump Allies

The House Jan. 6 committee issued six fresh subpoenas to six allies of former President Donald Trump.

Former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, Bill Stepien, Jason Miller, Angela McCallum, John Eastman, and Bernard Kerik were named as the subpoena targets in a press release from the panel on Monday, which said they were “involved in efforts to promote false claims of election fraud or overturn the results of the 2020 election.”

The subpoenas seek documents and testimony “from witnesses including staff members of the former President’s campaign and individuals associated with the so-called ‘war room’ that drove efforts to halt the counting of electoral votes in the runup to the violence of January 6th,” the press release added.

Stepien, who served as manager of Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, was joined by Miller and McCallum on the team that raised concerns about election fraud in the contest and reportedly sought to encourage state legislatures to alter the outcome of the November 2020 election.

Eastman is a conservative lawyer who wrote legal memos outlining ways the vice president could try to overturn the election, while Flynn and Kerik, a former New York City police commissioner, also pushed allegations of fraud, which have been dismissed by a broad sweep of courts and election officials. They reportedly attended meetings in the days after the election and leading up to the Jan. 6 riot that have drawn the interest of investigators. GOP Rep. Visits Jan. 6 Detainees at D.C. Jail, Says They Are ‘Suffering Greatly’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday visited the D.C. jail and reported that detainees charged in connection with the Capitol riot were “suffering greatly.”

The Georgia Republican said her visiting the detainees in the “Patriot” wing of the D.C. Central Treatment Facility “was like walking into a prisoner of war camp and seeing men [whose] eyes can’t believe someone had made it in to see them.”

Mrs. Greene said they have “virtually no medical care, very poor food quality, and [are] being put through re-education which most of them are rejecting.”

She said the detainees “have felt forgotten and hopeless” and that she was “greeted by men with overwhelming cheers who rushed out to meet me with tears streaming down their faces.”

The lawmaker is planning to release a report about the visit and said she is committed to bringing an end to this “political war.” (Read more from “GOP Rep. Visits Jan. 6 Detainees at D.C. Jail, Says They Are ‘Suffering Greatly’” HERE)

Biden FBI Joins Pelosi in Blocking GOP From Investigating January 6

The leading Republican tasked with his party’s investigation into the preparedness and response of the U.S. Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies to the Capitol riot on January 6 is being blocked by President Joseph Biden’s FBI from gathering information, a new document reveals.

The FBI told Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks it would not provide Republicans the same information provided to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked committee consisting only of Democrat-appointed members.

“We respectfully refer you to the Select Committee regarding issues of access to records and information,” the agency wrote in response to a Republican request for information, referring to the official House panel established by the speaker.

Pelosi took what she admitted was an “unprecedented” step of refusing the appointments made by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, barring Navy officer and Afghanistan veteran Banks and Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, from participation. In a fiery denunciation of Pelosi’s politicization of the committee, McCarthy, R-Calif., publicly announced Banks would lead Republicans’ investigation despite Pelosi blowing up the committee.

On September 3, Banks asked FBI Director Christopher Wray to give Republican lawmakers the same briefing offered to the Democrats on the progress of the agency’s own investigation. Partial findings of the FBI’s independent investigation were leaked to Reuters in August, which found “scant evidence” the Capitol riot was “an organized plot to overturn the president election result.” Wray has not responded to the request. Report: Pelosi Was Concerned About Lunch During Jan. 6 Protest

The former chief of staff to President Trump has confirmed on a podcast program that Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at the height of the riot at the Capitol last Jan. 6, called to ask about lunch being served for members of Congress.

It was on a John Solomon Reports podcast that Mark Meadows explained he wasn’t in the room at the time of the call, but Pelosi – who has joined with other Democrats and leftists in describing the events that day as the worst attack on democracy ever, even worse than 9/11 – contacted the Department of Defense and “made an inquiry about what time, you know, our members could actually get their lunch.”

“I find it amazing that she was more interested n their culinary position than they are in anything else,” Meadows said.

Pelosi’s office, in a statement to Just the News about Pelosi’s lunch plans, and her refusal to accept President Trump’s offer of 10,000 National Guard troops that day, said “This is false and makes no sense on its face. The breach of the Capitol was in the 2 pm hour. It is already established that US Capitol security officials requested National Guard for hours before the request was granted by the Trump administration.”

But Meadows has not been the only person to identify Pelosi’s lunch question as suspect. (Read more from “Report: Pelosi Was Concerned About Lunch During Jan. 6 Protest” HERE)

US Marshals To Investigate Alleged Mistreatment of Jan. 6 Protesters

. . .A week ago, a federal judge raised questions about the treatment of those Jan. 6 inmates at the jail after revelations one of the defendants had a broken hand that was allegedly improperly cared for.

The judge also formally found the jail warden and the director of the D.C. Department of Corrections in contempt of court for not responding to court questions about the medical care of Jan. 6 inmates.

The judge says he’s referring the matter to the U.S. attorney general for a possible civil rights violation investigation. . .

D.C. Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Chris Geldart confirmed Monday the inspectors are speaking with Jan. 6 defendants and said all court orders are being followed.

“We have been working with the marshals office,” he said. “As a matter of fact, they’re in there today doing an inspection of the jail and talking with many of the Jan. 6 folks that are there to make sure that we are continuing to do that.” (Read more from “US Marshals To Investigate Alleged Mistreatment of Jan. 6 Protesters” HERE)

Third Round of Jan. 6 Subpoenas Target More Citizens Exercising Their Right to Protest; Biden Blocks Trump Executive Action

By The Federalist. House Democrats with GOP Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., unveiled the third round of subpoenas Thursday in their witch hunt over the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. The three new subpoenas target Stop the Steal LLC., along with Ali Alexander and Nathan Martin, who were both organizers of the protest.

“The rally on the Capitol grounds on January 6th, like the rally near the White House that day, immediately preceded the violent attack on the seat of our democracy,” wrote Committee Chair Bennie Thompson of Mississippi on the heel of the new trove of subpoenas, in a statement reported by Politico. “The Select Committee needs to understand all the details about the events that came before the attack, including who was involved in planning and funding them. We expect these witnesses to cooperate fully with our probe.”

Since its inception, however, the Select Committee on Jan. 6 has served as a show trial for Democrats in partnership with a pair of leading NeverTrump Republicans to seek retribution against political dissidents. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tapped Kinzinger and Cheney to serve on the probe after the Democrat barred Republicans Jim Banks, R-Ind., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, from the panel.

The committee’s first hearing in July featured a slate of Capitol police officers airing a public vendetta against the former president while lawmakers manufactured tears. One officer, Harry Dunn, had also previously defended the riots that engulfed the nation’s capital last year. The devastation from the two weeks of rioting in the immediate aftermath of George Floyd’s death alone cost an estimated 66 times more than the damage at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Biden Rejects Trump’s Request To Withhold Documents From House Committee Investigating Jan. 6 Attack

By Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. . .President Joe Biden rejected Mr. Trump’s request to block documents from the House committee investigating the insurrection, citing the gravity of the assault on democracy.

“The president’s dedicated to ensuring that something like that could never happen again, which is why the administration is cooperating with ongoing investigations,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday.

Mr. Trump swiftly responded by formally claiming executive privilege over about 50 documents requested initially by the select committee and issuing a statement calling Democrats “drunk on power” and insisting that “this assault on the constitution and important legal precedent will not work.”

Meanwhile, urged on by Mr. Trump, his longtime adviser Stephen Bannon told the committee he will not comply with the panel’s sweeping request for documents and testimony.

Members of the committee responded with a threat Friday to pursue criminal charges against Mr. Bannon for refusing to comply with its subpoena, announcing they would consider initiating contempt of Congress proceedings. Trump To Use Executive Privilege to Block Jan. 6 Subpoenas

Former President Donald Trump will use executive privilege to block subpoenas from the House committee investigating the storming of the U.S. Capitol building, a new report says.

The subpoenas, issued Sept. 23, have a Thursday deadline to comply or face “criminal referrals.” Trump will instead invoke executive privilege, a power he retains over events that occurred during his administration despite leaving office, to protect a handful of former aides from divulging information about Jan. 6, Grant Stinchfield from Newsmax reported Wednesday.

“He is going to invoke executive privilege, and that means that people like Chief of Staff Mark Meadows; Dan Scavino, a top adviser; and Kash Patel, another top adviser, will not be able to comply with these subpoenas coming from the Jan. 6 commission,” Stinchfield said. “This is what you get with President Trump. You get a man who fights back. That’s what we love about President Trump, and he’s sticking it to these people trying to go after him.”

Trump lawyer Patrick Philbin, a former deputy White House counsel, is expected to tell the men not to comply with the subpoenas because doing so would hinder the president’s right to confidential information they gave to him during his administration, the host added. Ashli Babbitt Coverup Sparks Federal Action

The Department of Justice has been hit with a lawsuit for failing to provide public access to its records about the “killing” of Ashli Babbitt.

She was the California woman, unarmed, a 14-year Air Force veteran, who was shot and killed by Capitol police last January when dozens of protesters got rowdy, broke windows and doors, and vandalized parts of the building. . .

Babbitt was shot and killed as she climbed through a broken interior window. . .

Now government watchdog Judicial Watch has confirmed it filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice for its records relating to her death.

Earlier, the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, the Civil Rights Division, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation all failed to provide the records responsive to Judicial Watch’s April 14, 2021 and May 20, 2021, FOIA requests. Two Capitol Protesters Sentenced to 45 Days in Jail on Misdemeanor Charges

A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced two men to 45 days in jail for misdemeanor charges over their participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Derek Jancart, an Air Force veteran, and Erik Rau both pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in the Capitol, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail.

Prosecutors had asked U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee, to sentence both defendants to four months in jail, arguing that while neither was accused of committing any violence or destruction during the riot, they had encouraged it on Jan. 6 and showed a lack of remorse in the immediate aftermath of the insurrection.

Boasberg said during a hearing on Wednesday the factors for each defendant necessitated a lighter sentence but acknowledged that all of the charges “related to the January 6 insurrection are serious.”

“You attempted with others to undermine one of our country’s bedrock acts, which is the peaceful transfer of power following a democratic election,” the judge said during Jancart’s sentencing. (Read more from “Two Capitol Protesters Sentenced to 45 Days in Jail on Misdemeanor Charges” HERE)

Capitol Police Officers Facing Potential Disciplinary Action After Jan 6. Probe; Capitol Cops ‘Cover up 14,000 Hours of Video About What Really Happened’; Fence Going Up Around U.S. Capitol Ahead of Conservative Rally

By Daily Caller. The United States Capitol Police (USCP) recommended six officers to face disciplinary actions Saturday for their misconduct during the Jan. 6 riot.

The internal probe was launched in response to social media posts from Jan. 6, which appeared to show officers violating department regulations and policies.

“Our Office of Professional Responsibility will investigate these behaviors for disciplinary action, up to, and including termination,” a statement released by Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said.

“Several USCP officers have already been suspended pending the outcome of their investigations,” Pittman continued. (Read more from “Capitol Police Officers Facing Potential Disciplinary Action After Jan 6. Probe” HERE)

Capitol Police ‘Covering up 14,000 Hours of Video About What Really Happened’

By WND. Judicial Watch is a government watchdog in Washington that routinely takes government entities to court for failing to supply information to the public that really belongs to the public.

It can’t do that with Congress, because Congress has decided the Freedom of Information Act law is one that it doesn’t need to follow.

So now Judicial Watch is asking a court for an order for “discovery,” a legal process through which evidence can be brought to the light in legal disputes. . .

But there is security video – and estimated 14,000 hours of it – that would reveal in live action exactly what happened that day that Judicial Watch wants to see.

The organization reported, “This case concerns whether the public has a right of access to records about what Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has described as ‘one of the darkest days in our nation’s history,’ ‘an attack on our very democracy[,]’ and ‘an attack on the peaceful transfer of power.’ Speaker Pelosi also has stated, ‘It is imperative that we find the truth of that day and ensure that such an assault on our Capitol and Democracy cannot ever again happen.'” (Read more from “Capitol Police ‘Covering up 14,000 Hours of Video About What Really Happened’” HERE)

Fence Going up Around Us Capitol, as Law Enforcement “Braces” for Sept. 18 Rally

By ABC News. Fencing outside U.S. Capitol is expected to return ahead of the “Justice for J6” rally, a source familiar with the plans confirmed to ABC News. . .

“Justice for J6” is being billed by organizers as a protest for defendants who are being detained by the government in connection to the January insurrection at the Capitol.

The fencing is just the latest security measure for a rally that has some in law enforcement on high alert. (Read more from “Fence Going up Around Us Capitol, as Law Enforcement “Braces” for Sept. 18 Rally” HERE)
