Manchin: Build Back Better Is ‘Dead’

Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin told reporters Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better bill was “dead” when asked about the status of renewed negotiations.

Manchin preceded his remark by saying that “there is no Build Back Better bill,” adding, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The centrist Democrat came out against the bill in December 2021, criticizing its size and scope amid decades-high inflation. His lack of support effectively killed any chance the bill had of passing the evenly-divided Senate, given Republicans’ unanimous opposition to it.

Though Manchin did not support the House-passed bill and was unable to reach a compromise with his Democratic colleagues, he has not shut the door to potentially restarting negotiations in the future. He has also signaled support for several individual policies in the bill, including but not limited to climate change mitigation measures and universal pre-K. Biden Says There’s ‘a Way to Go’ on COVID Two Years Into the Pandemic

President Biden sounded shaky Monday about his administration’s ability to lead the US out of the COVID-19 pandemic and back to normal, telling a group of governors at the White House that “we got a way to go on that, in my view” as Americans grow restless with social restrictions nearly two full years into the pandemic.

The president made the comment to members of the National Governors Association while discussing how he’d like states to standardize their coronavirus policies.

“I know you spoke today with … the head of my COVID team [Jeff Zients] in here,” Biden said. “We got a way to go on that, in my view, but we’re moving. And so I think it’s all about making sure we have the same standards we’re applying across the board.”

Seconds later, Biden said the administration was “gonna try like the devil to keep schools open,” even as several districts return to virtual learning, citing a surge in cases caused by the Omicron variant.

“We do know — study after study, as all of you know and you’ve done, the great universities in your states have done them — is that, you know, losing a semester can put a kid back a year and a half,” Biden said. “And so, there’s a whole lot we can — have to do, in my view, to focus. And I think that keeping schools open is a big part of that.” (Read more from “Biden Says There’s ‘a Way to Go’ on COVID Two Years Into the Pandemic” HERE)

Biden’s Border Plan: Fix Foreign Countries *First*

President Joe Biden met with American governors at the White House on Monday, but only spoke briefly about migration and the crisis on the southern border.

The president acknowledged that border security was an issue, claiming he was “working a lot with neighboring countries” on the migrant crisis.

But he stressed the most important thing he wanted to do is fix the foreign countries from which migrants were coming.

“There’s a lot to do.” he said. “There’s a lot. I think one of the fundamental things we gotta do in addition to some of the changes we’ll make — we won’t get into them today — is that if we figure out why they’re leaving in the first place.”

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, along with cabinet officials, met with governors from the National Governors Association. (Read more from “Biden’s Border Plan: Fix Foreign Countries *First*” HERE)

Ukrainian President Chastises Biden on Russia: ‘I Am Based Here, and I Think I Know the Details’; After Destroying America’s Economy Biden Now Destroying Foreign Economies: Zelensky Says Ukraine Lost Almost $500 Million to Biden War Hype

By WND. President Biden had a phone call Thursday night with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and it apparently wasn’t “perfect,” to borrow the term President Trump famously employed to describe a conversation with the Ukrainian leader that Democrats used to impeach him.

CNN reported Thursday, citing an unnamed senior Ukrainian official, that Biden’s call with Zelensky over the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine “did not go well.”

Biden, according to the official, told Zelensky a Russian invasion is nearly certain in February, as soon as the ground freezes solid enough for Russian tanks to move. A frustrated Zelensky, the official said, told Biden the invasion threat has been exaggerated. . .

However, on Friday at a press conference in Kiev, Zelensky made it clear he believed Biden did not have a good read on the situation with Russia. . .

“But I am the president of Ukraine, and I based here, and I think I know the details deeper than any other president,” he emphasized. (Read more from “Ukrainian President Chastises Biden on Russia: ‘I Am Based Here, and I Think I Know the Details’” HERE)

After Destroying America’s Economy Biden Now Destroying Foreign Economies: Zelensky Says Ukraine Lost Almost $500 Million to Biden War Hype

By Breitbart. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned international corporate media and world leaders like President Joe Biden for publicly predicting imminent war with Russia on Friday, stating that the panic caused by these statements cost Ukraine 12.5 billion hryvnia (about $437 million) in foreign investment.

Zelensky spent nearly an hour and a half with reporters at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday following what has become a controversial phone conversation with President Biden on Thursday night. While the official readouts from both Washington and Kyiv depicted the call as productive and friendly, a CNN report based on anonymous sources described the call as frustrating and tedious, featuring harried warnings from Biden that Kyiv would be “sacked” and exasperated requests from Zelensky for the president to “calm down.”

Both the White House and the Ukrainian president’s office have rejected the CNN report, and Zelensky himself, during the press conference, repeatedly expressed gratitude to Biden without addressing the acute challenges the CNN report claimed exist in the relationship.

Zelensky did tell reporters that he spent much of the call emphasizing to Biden that telling the world that Russia would imminently invade Ukraine – something Kyiv has repeatedly stated there is little material evidence to believe – could lead to economic devastation in the country that would, in turn, increase the probability of a full-fledged Russian assault.

“I mentioned this to President Biden … we need to stabilize the economy of our country because of those signals which say that tomorrow there will be war,” Zelensky said, “because these signals were sent by even leaders of the respected countries, sometimes they are not even using diplomatic language! They are saying, ‘Tomorrow is the war.’”

Tucker: George Floyd’s Sister Is Biden’s Obvious Choice for Supreme Court

. . .I will appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court. That was Biden’s promise. All right. But which Black woman exactly? Biden didn’t tell us. Biden didn’t mention the Supreme Court nominee’s legal qualifications or judicial philosophy or ability to perform one of the most important jobs in the country. He didn’t even tell us she was a nice person. All he said was she’s going to be Black and she’s going to be female, because to him, that’s all that mattered.

You almost got the impression that Joe Biden believes all Black women are the same. They’re identical. It was certainly the assumption in the Delaware of Joe Biden’s youth 60 years ago. Biden doesn’t seem to have changed much.

You wonder if anyone sitting there in CNN’s audience that night even noticed this. It’s possible we’ve all marinated for so long in the casual racism of affirmative action that it seems normal now to reduce human beings to their race. But imagine if this was happening to you. How would you feel? You go to law school, you win a clerkship, you get a seat on some lower court. One day you’re nominated to be one of the top nine judges in the country. And you’re proud of that. Why wouldn’t you? Your parents are proud. Your friends are proud. . .

So you have to wonder at this point since we’re going by skin color and gender, why Joe Biden is ignoring the obvious choice. Why doesn’t Biden strike a real blow for equity and just nominee Bridgett Floyd? Who’s that? Well, it’s George Floyd’s sister. She’s not a judge or a lawyer or whatever. But at this stage, who cares? Clearly, that’s not the point anymore. This law stuff.

As Nebraska Senator Roman Hruska once said in defense of one of Richard Nixon’s dumber judicial nominees “even if he is mediocre, there are a lot of mediocre judges and people and lawyers. They’re entitled to a little representation, aren’t they?” Well, sure, they are, Bridgett Floyd could be justice for the rest of us. Or at least a slice of the rest of us. Chinese Elite Have Paid Some $31 Million to Hunter and the Bidens (VIDEO)

For those wondering why Joe Biden is soft on China, consider this never-before-reported revelation: The Biden family has done five deals in China totaling some $31 million arranged by individuals with direct ties to Chinese intelligence — some reaching the very top of China’s spy agency.

Indeed, every known deal that the Biden family enjoyed with Beijing was reached courtesy of individuals with spy ties. And Joe Biden personally benefited from his family’s foreign deals.

What are these deals? And who are the individuals who made them happen for the Bidens?

Here, then, are a few key facts about the Biden family’s $5 million-plus deals with individuals in bed with Chinese intelligence. . .

In 2018, I was the first to report on Hunter Biden’s involvement with a Chinese investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). Hunter even introduced his dad to a company executive in December 2013 when father and son flew to Beijing on Air Force Two. Americans to Biden: Don’t Run U.S. Into Ukraine War

A recent Guardian report addressed the issue of American presidents and foreign wars, explaining a “rally around the flag” effect that appears to boost the standings of sitting presidents if they take certain foreign actions.

“Wars can be great for presidential popularity,” the report said, citing the conclusions of political scientist John Mueller who said that effect results when presidents take international action, involves the president directly, and is “specific, dramatic and sharply focused.”

It reported that a 2015 study showed the 2003 invasion of Iraq gave George W. Bush a surge in support. . .

The polling showed 84.8% of American voters think the U.S. should have limited involvement in the event Russia invades Ukraine.

It revealed 31.1% believe the U.S. should provide supplies and military weapons, 30.5% think the U.S. should provide only diplomatic area pressure, and 23.2% believe the U.S. should provide U.S. military advisers. (Read more from “Americans to Biden: Don’t Run U.S. Into Ukraine War” HERE)

White House: Biden Stands by Pledge to Name Black Woman to SCOTUS

The White House chose not to comment directly on Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s plans to retire but said President Joe Biden stands by his 2020 campaign promise to nominate a black woman to sit on the nation’s highest court if given the chance.

Biden made the pledge during a February 2020 Democratic presidential primary debate.

“It’s always been the decision of any Supreme Court justice, if and when they decide to retire, how they want to announce it,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters at Wednesday’s press briefing. “And that remains the case today, so we’re not going to have additional details.”

Psaki still fielded a number of questions about the Breyer news but noted the president “has stated and reiterated his commitment to nominating a black woman to the Supreme Court and certainly stands by that for today.”

She additionally declined to offer “anything else” on whether Biden would nominate Vice President Kamala Harris, who served as California’s attorney general before her tenure in the Senate. (Read more from “White House: Biden Stands by Pledge to Name Black Woman to SCOTUS” HERE)

Biden: US Will Not Deploy Combat Troops to Ukraine; Biden Warns Putin

By Washington Examiner. President Joe Biden said he would not deploy combat troops to Ukraine amid concerns that Russian troops could invade the country.

“We have no intention of putting American forces or NATO forces in Ukraine. But we — I said there are going to be serious economic consequences if he moves,” Biden said Tuesday during a stop in Washington, D.C., warning that the effects of a Russian invasion would stretch worldwide.

The White House is instead leaning on a threat of new export controls targeting strategic Russian industries to deter Moscow’s threats. Russian President Vladimir Putin has massed some 120,000 Russian troops along Ukraine’s eastern border, threatening an invasion. . .

“This would be the largest, if you were to move in, with all those forces, it would be the largest invasion since World War II,” Biden said. “It would change the world.”

The Kremlin has said that the United States fueled the conflict with an announcement that it is placing 8,500 troops on alert. During a briefing Tuesday, press secretary Jen Psaki said in response that Washington is committed to protecting NATO allies. Biden Warns Putin With Sanctions as West Steps up Ukraine Defenses

By Reuters. U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he would consider personal sanctions on President Vladimir Putin if Russia invades Ukraine, as Western leaders stepped up military preparations and made plans to shield Europe from a potential energy supply shock.

The rare sanctions threat came as NATO places forces on standby and reinforces eastern Europe with more ships and fighter jets in response to Russia’s troop build-up near its border with Ukraine.

Russia denies planning an attack and says the crisis is being driven by NATO and U.S. actions. It is demanding security guarantees from the West, including a promise by NATO never to admit Ukraine. Moscow sees the former Soviet republic as a buffer between Russia and NATO countries. (Read more from “Biden Warns Putin With Sanctions as West Steps up Ukraine Defenses” HERE)
