Despite Criticism, MSNBC’s Silence Regarding Doctored ‘Heckling’ Video Deafening

A video doctored by MSNBC featuring the grieving father of one of the children who died in the Sandy Hook tragedy from has set the Internet aflame this week. The video, which first aired on the Monday, January 28 broadcast of the liberal network’s “Martin Bashir”show is only the latest video controversy to include NBC and its crazy liberal stepchild MSNBC.

We’re now three days — and counting — into the scandal and MSNBC still hasn’t come clean and admitted what it did.

The video showed Newtown, Conn. father Neil Heslin’s testimony about guns speaking at a legislative hearing. Bashir then claimed Heslin was heckled by a gun supporter at the hearing. “A father’s grief, interrupted by the cries of a heckler,” Bashir declared.

Bashir’s declaration was at best wrong and at worst outright misrepresentation by the network. The video cut out the part of Heslin’s testimony where he posed a question to the crowd. Hearing no response, Heslin then appeared to act like no one was able to challenge his argument, which is why some present did so.

This latest controversy has made MSNBC the target of criticism from AP, The Washington Post and even some commentators like David Frum. After Tweeting about the alleged heckling incident, CNN’s Anderson Cooper then deleted his Tweet and clarified the situation, much to his credit.

MSNBC Guest: Profile White Men as School Shooters (+video)

If you thought the Newtown, Connecticut shooting was one place where a refuge from racial politics could be found, you were deeply mistaken. At least one commentator on MSNBC is determined to bring the subject up.

In a conversation on MSNBC’s Up With Chris Hayes, Salon columnist David Sirota argued that the discussion surrounding the shooting in Newtown has been spared a larger degree of ugliness by the fact that the shooter in this case – Adam Lanza – was a white man. However, Sirota did not see this as a positive. Rather, he saw it as evidence that America is willing to leap to the easy out of racial profiling for every crime except for school shootings. Why? Because school shootings, according to Sirota, are perpetrated by white people. Read more from this story HERE.

Video: MSNBC & CNN Pundit Arrested for Vandalism of Anti-Jihad Sign in NYC

In this video, Egyptian-American Mona Eltahawy, a former Reuters correspondent and pundit on MSNBC and CNN defaces a pro-Israel, anti-Jihad poster in a New York City subway.

She uses a can of pink spray paint and, when a passerby tries to stop her, Ms. Eltahawy proceeds to spray paint her, too.

Eventually, the NYPD shows up and takes her into custody.

Ms. Eltahawy then demands to know why she is being arrested. She’s handcuffed and taken away to the cheers of a few observers.

Her behavior should really come as no surprise given the Obama Administration’s recent attacks on free speech.

Gingrich Turns Tables on Chris Matthews, Calls him Racist

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Hardball” on Monday from the Republican National Convention, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich took on host Chris Matthews, who accused the Republican Party of playing the “race card” throughout the day on MSNBC.

Gingrich turned the tables on Matthews, asking: “Why do you assume ‘food stamp’ refers to black? What kind of racist thinking do you have? Why are you being a racist, because you assume he’s referring to black?”

In a testy exchange, Matthews asked Gingrich why his party was using what he deemed coded racist dog whistles.

“I find your assumption so absurd that it’s hard to answer your question,” Gingrich responded. “Let me take the birther thing for a second — what Mitt Romney did the other day, people say, ‘You ought to relax, you ought to be a little bit lighter’. So he tells a joke. Now, it tends to be a joke that serves him in a totally different way that you’re calculating. It reminds everybody in Michigan that he was born in Michigan.”

But Matthews wouldn’t back down from his premise: “You know, it’s amazing how — you know how African-Americans generally, at least people who have emailed me in the last couple of hours, how they react to this?”

Obama Admin. wrongfully used stimulus funds to buy ads on Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann’s shows

The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show.

The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The Washington Times.

Spending reports under the federal Recovery Act show $495,000 paid to McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC, which the Labor Department hired to raise awareness “among employers and influencers about the [Job Corps] program’s existing and new training initiatives in high growth and environmentally friendly career areas” as well as spreading the word to prospective Job Corps enrollees.

The firm ultimately negotiated ad buys for “two approved spots” airing 14 times per week for two months on “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” and “The Rachel Maddow Show,” according to a project report, which listed the number zero under a section of the report asking how many jobs had been created through the stimulus contract.

David Williams, president of the nonprofit watchdog Taxpayers Protection Alliance, called the contract “questionable” because it created no jobs and because of the placement of the ads on shows viewed as friendly to the administration’s policies.

Video: National Review’s Lowry destroys Rachel Maddow on Meet the Press

Watch this video to see National Review’s Rich Lowry destroy Rachel Maddow on Meet the Press. He backed her into a corner and wouldn’t let up.

Here’s the transcript the Lowry vs. Maddow exchange:

LOWRY: Do you support $700 billion in cuts in Medicare over the next 10 years?

MADDOW: I’m not running for president.

LOWRY: Do you?

MADDOW: I’m not running for anything. Paul Ryan is running for vice president.

LOWRY: Do you? Why can’t you answer? See, you can’t answer.

MADDOW: But wait, I’m not running for anything.

LOWRY: This is the key vulnerability. Democrats have cut $700 billion out of Medicare which you won’t or can’t defend it. Defend it.

MADDOW: Is it good or bad?

LOWRY: Do you support it? You can’t answer.

MADDOW: But wait. Why are you asking me?

LOWRY: You can’t answer. Because you’re an opinion maker who is supposed to give us your opinion. But you will not tell us what your opinion is?

MADDOW: What I want to know is the logic of . . .

LOWRY: Democrats cannot defend that.

MADDOW: Wait. I want to know is the logic . . .

LOWRY: Go ahead. Defend it.

MADDOW: What I want to know is the logic . . .

LOWRY: [Laughter]

MADDOW: Wait. Rich, hold on.

LOWRY: Answer me. You’re not answering.

MADDOW: Can I say something?

LOWRY: Can you answer?

MSNBC Distorts Reagan Position on Debt Ceiling, Says Media Watchdog Group

Cable network MSNBC has been distorting the late President Ronald Reagan’s position on raising the debt ceiling, in the midst of a current-day political debate over raising that ceiling between President Barack Obama and Republicans on Capitol Hill, says an analysis by the Media Research Center (MRC).

“At least five MSNBC anchors since Tuesday have promoted a cherry-picked House Democratic Caucus video that distorts President Ronald Reagan’s position on the debt ceiling, inaccurately asserting that President Barack Obama is more in line with Reagan than the Republicans,” MRC News Analyst Alex Fitzsimmons reported in a BiasAlert on Wednesday.

The five MSNBC anchors are Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell and Thomas Roberts. They each played or cited an excerpt from a Reagan speech given on Sept. 26, 1987. In the excerpt, Reagan expressed the need to raise the debt ceiling.

However, the cable network did not acknowledge that later in that same speech Reagan insisted on a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

MRC President L. Brent Bozell III expressed outrage at the network on Thursday.
