City Wants Private Property Owners to Add ‘Mandatory Rest Spaces’ for the Homeless

Portland, Oregon, like many other notably “blue” cities, is not immune to a growing homelessness problem. Like San Francisco, California, and Seattle, Washington, Portland is overrun with people sleeping rough, many of whom suffer from drug addiction and mental illness.

There are humane ways to handle the homelessness problem but, it seems, a Portland city commission would rather change Portland’s building codes in order to force private property owners to accommodate members of Portland’s homeless population, according to local media.

The city’s “planning and sustainability commission,” which writes and enforces the city’s building codes, approved a change to building guidelines in November that would require new constuction to feature “opportunities to rest and be welcome” for those who do not number among that building’s residents or customers.

The requirement can be read a number of ways, but at least one member of the Portland planning and sustainability commission was clear to local reporters that the requirement is to the benefit of the city’s “unhoused,” who are often kicked off of private property for loitering, sleeping, or camping — as is (typically) a private property owner’s right. . .

Business owners obviously took issue with the new requirement, badgering committee members to be more specific about the rules — particularly whether the Portland planning and sustainability commission was mandating that private property owners accommodate beds, tents, and full camps. WATCH: Female MMA Fighter Takes Down Anti-Trump ‘Professor’ Who Started Fight Over American Flag

MMA fighter Tara LaRosa said she used her jiujitsu skills to take down a woman who allegedly started a fight during a Portland, Oregon, flag wave honoring veterans Sunday.

LaRosa livestreamed the flag wave on an overpass above Interstate 84 when the physical altercation started between the woman and a female from LaRosa’s group, the members of which were wearing “Make America Great Again” hats — the iconic symbol of President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign — and insignias for the controversial Proud Boys. . .

[WARNING: video contains explicit language.]

LaRosa told police that her group was on the overpass, facing passing cars and waving flags, when the woman approached them from behind and noticed their insignias and repeatedly said “f*** Proud Boys.” The woman then attacked a female from the flag-waving group, LaRosa said, and that’s when the MMA fighter stepped in.

LaRosa added to cops that the woman punched her eight to 10 times and bit her breast through her clothing:

Incredible Video Shows Moment HS Coach Disarms Student with Shotgun — and Embraces Him with Bear Hug

Newly released surveillance footage shows the moment an Oregon high school coach disarmed a shotgun-wielding student — and embraced him with a hug, compassion, and empathy.

The video shows student Angel Granados-Diaz walking into a building at the Portland-area Parkrose High School with a shotgun hidden underneath a long coat on May 17, 2019. Then video shows the moment football coach Keanon Lowe, who also works as a security guard at the school, confronted the student. . .

The video shows Lowe hand the shotgun to another teacher while embracing Granados-Diaz.

“I felt compassion for him; a lot of times, especially when you’re young, you don’t realize what you’re doing until it’s over,” Lowe said.

“I just wanted to let him know that I was there for him. I told him I was there to save him. I was there for a reason and that this is a life worth living,” he explained after the incident, NBC News reported. Some Believe Aliens or ‘North Vietnamese Army’ Caused Mysterious Cattle Deaths in Oregon

Ranchers in the most remote parts of Eastern Oregon don’t understand how or why so many cattle in the region have died through mutilation that includes surgical-like incisions, but not a trace of blood left behind.

Mysterious mutilations in Oregon have been documented for at least four decades. Cowboys have recently found purebred bulls all of a sudden dead, with body parts intricately removed, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. . .

Dan Jenkins is a sheriff’s deputy in Harney County who has investigated cattle deaths, and he gets calls from people who say aliens could be involved.

“A lot of people lean toward the aliens,” Jenkins said. “One caller had told us to look for basically a depression under the carcass. ‘Cause he said that the alien ships will kinda beam the cow up and do whatever they are going to do with it. Then they just drop them from a great height.” . . .

“Another [person] told us we should run like a Geiger counter type thing around the animal and guarantees that there would be radiation there,” Jenkins said. “And the number one on the list there, he thinks it’s the North Vietnamese army.” (Read more from “Some Believe Aliens or ‘North Vietnamese Army’ Caused Mysterious Cattle Deaths in Oregon” HERE)

So Much for Being ‘Peaceful’: Antifa Attacks Reporters and Conservatives in Portland (Again)

Not quite seven weeks ago, conservative journalist Andy Ngo was attacked while covering an Antifa protest in Portland, Oregon. Mayor Tom Wheeler ordered police to stand down at the time and received backlash for doing so. The city prepared for the Proud Boys to hold a rally on Saturday, with Antifa showing up to counter protest. Wheeler made it clear that Portland is taking a “zero tolerance” policy during Saturday’s activities.

At one point, Antifa protestors had The Washington Examiner’s Julio Rosas surrounded. They wanted him to report on what was taking place from the other side of the street because he “wasn’t with” them.

Rosas attempted to explain that he was simply reporting on the events for his job but Antifa didn’t care. They thought he was “spying” on them.

Watch: Antifa Mob Brutally Assaults Journalist, 3 Arrests Made

By Daily Wire. A journalist who regularly covers demonstrations by the left-wing group Antifa has been assaulted and robbed.

Andy Ngo, who has written previously about his experiences covering the violent group for The Daily Wire, tweeted shortly before 1 p.m. local time that he had been attacked.

“Attacked by antifa. Bleeding. They stole my camera equipment. No police until after. waiting for ambulance. If you have evidence Of attack please help,” wrote Ngo, who is an editor for Quillette.

One opponent of Ngo’s presence and reporting told him he “wanted” to get attacked and had gone to the protest “to antagonize” the members of Antifa. Others cheered the attack.

Ian Miles Cheong wrote at Human Events that the attack happened while the Rose City Antifa group protested against a group of right-wing provocateurs known as the Proud Boys (who have also become violent at their protests). Cheong reported that police “responded to the demonstrations by cordoning off various intersections and preventing the groups from clashing.”

Man SURVIVES After Falling 800 Feet into Lake

An Oregon man was rescued after falling 800 feet into a caldera Monday afternoon and surviving, officials said.

The Coast Guard’s North Bend Sector received a call at 3:47 p.m. from the National Park Service that a man fell into the Crater Lake caldera near Rims Village, officials said in a news release. . .

After already descending 600 feet into the crater, the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew reportedly heard the man yelling from even further down.

Approximately 15 minutes after arriving on the scene, the man, who had fallen 800 feet, was hoisted up. He was transferred to an AirLink Critical Care Transport Team who transported him to an area hospital. (Read more from “Man SURVIVES After Falling 800 Feet into Lake” HERE)

Trump Pardons Hammond Ranchers

By NPR. President Trump signed full pardons on Tuesday for Oregon cattle ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and son Steven Hammond, whose long-running dispute with the federal government ended with prison sentences for arson — and later inspired the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation.

In its statement announcing the pardon, the White House said, “The Hammonds are devoted family men, respected contributors to their local community, and have widespread support from their neighbors, local law enforcement, and farmers and ranchers across the West.”

It added: “Dwight Hammond is now 76 years old and has served approximately three years in prison. Steven Hammond is 49 and has served approximately four years in prison. They have also paid $400,000 to the United States to settle a related civil suit.” (Read more from “Trump Pardons Hammond Ranchers” HERE)

Oregon Ranchers Pardoned by Trump Arrive Home

By CBS News. Father and son ranchers, who were the focus of a battle about public lands and were freed from prison after receiving a presidential pardon, were welcomed home Wednesday in Oregon by relatives and horseback riders carrying American flags. A crowd of 100 people, including supporters who drove from all over the West Coast, also helped welcome the Hammonds home — proudly displaying Americans flags on their trucks and signs praising President Trump, CBS Portland affiliate KOIN reports.

“We’re going to do a lot of decompressing and get back to our families,” Steven Hammond told reporters and well-wishers after he and his father Dwight stepped from a private jet and into the arms of family members in the high-desert town of Burns.

Just 25 miles away is Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which was taken over in 2016 by armed protesters angered by the five-year prison sentences given to the Hammonds after they were convicted of setting fires on federal land. The standoff lasted 41 days, ending when occupation leaders Ammon and Ryan Bundy were arrested and LaVoy Finicum was killed by authorities.

The occupiers, who believe federal control of public lands violates the Constitution, insisted the Hammonds were victimized by federal overreach. (Read more from “Oregon Ranchers Pardoned by Trump Arrive Home” HERE)

Bakery Responds to Backlash Over Unjustly Firing Employees Who Turned Away Black Woman After Hours

A Portland, Ore., bakery has responded to the backlash over its decision to fire two employees who refused to serve a black woman who entered the shop after hours to buy a pastry, confirming what rational Americans already deduced — that being that the owners are screaming liberals.

The customer, later identified as a “professional equity activist,” claimed racism, even though two white customers were also reportedly turned away, according to the ABC affiliate KATU.

Back to Eden Bakery said their employees weren’t racist, but fired them anyway, saying that they “lacked sensitivity and understanding of the racial implications at work.” . . .

The bakery’s stance highlights the impossible standard being set in post-Obama America, where racial hypersensitivity results in there being no correct answer. A scenario where there are two sets of rules, based on the race of the customer, with employees tasked with guessing what the right guidelines. . .

And like true liberals, the owners of the Back To Eden Bakery took to Facebook to play the victim, labeling criticism of their decision as being a product of the “Alt-Right and people fueled by their own white supremacy.” (Read more from “Bakery Responds to Backlash Over Unjustly Firing Employees Who Turned Away Black Woman After Hours” HERE)

Bakery Fires Employees After Refusing to Serve Black Woman After Hours

A Portland, Ore., bakery caved to a disgruntled customer’s allegations of racism and fired two employees after they wouldn’t serve a customer because the shop was closed.

Back to Eden Bakery sent multiple apologies and public statements admitting it’s racist because it refused to serve a black woman who entered the shop after hours and asked to buy a pastry despite that the shop had closed.

The incident occurred in early May and is now circulating in the news, garnering a strong public response on Facebook and social media. A woman named only as “Lillian” entered the bakery at 9:06 p.m. after the shop had already closed, according to the bakeshop’s Facebook post about the event. Confusion arose because the shop was unusually busy for the late hour and there were still a few customers in line who the shop agreed to serve but who’d been informed the shop was officially closed. The lighted “Open” sign had been turned off.

After the bakeshop employees informed Lillian that they were officially closed and they could serve no more customers, Lillian video recorded the experience and claimed the bakery was racist because it served the two white women who had arrived at the shop earlier, but refused to serve her.

In a public statement of apology, bakery co-owner and general manager John Blomgren described the event as “absolutely egregious” and stated the shop had fired the two employees who had informed Lillian they could not serve her because the shop was closed. “We are doing business in a gentrified neighborhood in a racist city within a racist state of a racist country,” Blomgren wrote in the Facebook post, noting the incident reveals the shop has more work to do to dismantle racism.
