Trump Blasts Antifa After Portland Rioters Topple Lincoln, Roosevelt Statues

By New York Post. President Trump called on federal law enforcement to target the “Radical Left” and Antifa after rioters in Portland on Sunday evening toppled statues of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt during “day of rage” protests over the Christopher Columbus holiday.

“The FBI and Law Enforcement must focus their energy on ANTIFA and the Radical Left, those who have spent the summer trying to burn down poorly run Democrat Cities throughout the USA!,” the president wrote in a string of tweets Monday after the “indigenous peoples day of rage,” organized by a faction of Antifa.

“Taking advantage of fools. Law & Order! Portland, call in the Feds!,” Trump said in another posting.

The president, who has made law and order and criticism of the national riots following the killing of George Floyd a major part of his re-election campaign, also linked former Vice President Joe Biden to Antifa. Police Rip Into Portland Mayor for Banning Them Using Tear Gas to Stop Life-Threatening Riots (VIDEO)

The Portland Police Bureau criticized Mayor Ted Wheeler (D), who serves as the city’s police commissioner, after he announced officers will no longer be able to use tear gas to stop the nightly riots that have been occurring for over 100 days.

“Effective immediately and until further notice, I’m directing the Portland Police Bureau to end the use of CS gas for crowd control…During the last 100 days Portland, Multnomah County, and State Police have all riled CS gas where there’s a threat to life safety. We need something different and we need it now,” Wheeler said.

Wheeler said he expects the police to arrest those who are participating in criminal acts and the district attorney to prosecute those who are arrested. . .

In a statement released after Wheeler’s announcement, the Portland Police Bureau said since late May, “Portland Police and partner agencies have been subjected to repeated violence by a group of motivated and well-organized individuals. These individuals have stated they intend to kill or injure officers and destroy occupied buildings and dwellings. Threats to commit acts of violence have been scrawled on police facilities and other property. Crowds have chanted slogans about burning down buildings on their way to attempt to do that.” . . .

“Banning the lawful use of CS will make it very difficult to address this kind of violence without resorting to much higher levels of physical force, with a correspondingly elevated risk of serious injury to members of the public and officers,” the PPB continued. “CS, while effective, is a significantly lower level of force than impact weapons, which would very likely be necessary to disperse riotous groups with its prohibition. We do not want to use gas. We do not want to use any force.” (Read more from “Police RIP Into Portland Mayor for Banning Them Using Tear Gas to Stop Life-Threatening Riots” HERE)

WATCH: Man Who Brandished Gun at BLM Protest Was ‘Lawfully Defending Himself;’ No Charges Filed; Slain Portland Man’s Friend Says He Lost Life for Conservative Views

By Fox News. A counter-protester who pulled a gun during an altercation at a Black Lives Matter protest in Tallahassee, Fla., Saturday evening “was lawfully defending himself” and will not face criminal charges, according to the police department.

The Tallahassee Police Department made the announcement Sunday after reviewing a video from the incident from several sources and other evidence with the State Attorney’s Office.

About 150 Black Lives Matter protesters gathered in front of the Florida Historic Capitol Saturday and blocked traffic by Monroe Street and Apalachee Parkway, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. The protest was organized with “no advance notice to or coordination with TPD to ensure safety,” the police department said in a statement.

“During the protest, a white male entered the crowd and began documenting the protest. That individual was pushed from behind by a white protester, which led to a physical altercation between the individual and several other white males,” Tallahassee Police said. “During the altercation, the individual was knocked to the ground. He got back to his feet and brandished a gun. TPD officers quickly engaged, took the individual into custody, and peacefully dispersed the crowd. There were no reported injuries.

“The evidence confirmed the physical altercation between numerous protestors and that the individual was knocked to the ground and under attack before lawfully defending himself,” the department said, adding that they confirmed that the individual with the gun “was lawfully carrying a concealed weapon as a license holder.” (Read more from “Man Who Brandished Gun at BLM Protest Was ‘Lawfully Defending Himself;’ No Charges Filed” HERE)

Slain Portland Man’s Friend Says He Lost Life for Conservative Views

By Fox News. The friend of a man gunned down Saturday in Portland amid a riot said his pal – whose picture was released Monday by police – was “executed” and “hunted down” for his conservative views.

Chandler Pappas told The Common Sense Converstive that he was with Aaron “Jay” Danielson — the shooting victim identified by Patriot Prayer founder Joey Gibson — as part the right-wing group in downtown Portland on Saturday. A massive pro-Trump caravan drove through the city as counterprotesters gathered for the 95th consecutive day to voice anger over police brutality and racial injustice. . .

“We have a First Amendment in the country,” Pappas told the news site. “And for whatever reason, there seems to be this opposition that thinks we can’t do that. They have been attacking us for years. Really for decades in the grand scheme of things but very heavily in Portland.” . . .

“It takes a second for you to process everything that happened. ‘Did he just shoot at me?'” Pappas said while standing in front of a Blue Lives Matter flag. “I’m OK. I turn over and Jay’s dead because he believed something different. Jay’s not a racist, a xenophobe or whatever. He’s not an ‘ist’ or ‘ism.'”

“They executed my parter,” he said. “They hunted him down.” (Read more from “Slain Portland Man’s Friend Says He Lost Life for Conservative Views” HERE)

WATCH: Cops Handcuff Female Protester, Get Asked If Female Cop Is There for Pat-Down. Male Officer Quips, ‘How Do You Know That I Don’t Identify as a Female?’

Portland police have endured literally months of nightly rioting that left-wing politicians and reporters routinely brushed off as “mostly peaceful protests.” They’ve been getting pelted with rocks, explosives, and other projectiles. . .

Early Sunday morning before the sun rose, a freelance journalist noticed Portland’s finest had handcuffed a female protester.

Video was running as the obligatory pat-down commenced, and the journalist — also a woman — grew suspicious as it apparently looked as though only male officers were on hand.

“Do you have a female officer present while you’re patting her down?” the journalist asked. . .

Then at that moment, a different officer chimed in with a comeback for the ages amid the rioting: “How do you know that I don’t identify as a female?” (Read more from “Cops Handcuff Female Protester, Get Asked If Female Cop Is There for Pat-Down. WATCH: Riot Declared in Portland After Police Union Building Set on Fire

The police union building in Portland, Oregon, was set on fire Saturday night, leading police to declare a riot and order the area cleared. Federal authorities left the city at the end of July after weeks of violent clashes between them and protesters, and local leaders have hoped for calm after the federal agents withdrew. . .

Police said there were several protests on Saturday that were peaceful, but a small group lit a fire at the Portland Police Association (PPA) building. According to The Oregonian, it’s the second time a fire has been lit at the police union building, a regular site of protests since they began in late May.

According to police, the group was warned around 10:30 p.m. to “not engage in criminal activities” and disperse. “People within the crowd committed crimes when they erected a fence, pushed dumpsters into the street to block traffic, set a dumpster on fire, vandalized the PPA office with spray paint, and destroyed security cameras,” police said in a release.

At 11:35 p.m., people within the crowd broke the window of the police union offices, entered the building and then lit a fire, “committing the crimes of criminal mischief, burglary, and attempted arson,” police said. A riot was then declared and all people assembled were ordered to leave, including members of the media and legal observers.

Officers from the Oregon State Police and the Portland police tried to break up the crowd. But three officers were injured as police said the crowd started throwing bottles and paint balloons, as well as shining green laser lights, which is a crime in Oregon. WATCH: ‘Peaceful Protesters’ Light Pig Head and American Flag on Fire in Portland Riots

By Townhall. Despite demonstrably false reporting from the leftist media, congressional Democrats, and late-night comedy hosts on HBO, Portland, Oregon has remained the scene of terror and destruction for more than two months.

On Thursday, activists took aim at the city Justice Center creating a horrific display involving a severed pig head wearing a policeman’s hat, sitting on an American flag. The deceased animal’s head and flag were both lit on fire. Andy Ngo of the Post Millennial reported from the Justice Center.

The display of violence meant to strike fear in the hearts of law enforcement officers in Portland was certainly not part of any peaceful protest. Police found an abandoned pet pig not far from that area in the earlier days of riots; they believed that was a first attempt to kill an animal in order to send a message to the police but the perpetrators abandoned their plan before they were able to carry it out.

Oregon Police in Portland Try to Quell Nightly Protests, Riots

By Fox News. Oregon State Police have taken over the role of guarding a courthouse in Portland after more than 60 nights of protests that at times turned into violent riots, and increasingly targeted the federal building.

Stepping up state and local officers’ presence was part of a deal between the Democratic governor and the Trump administration that aimed to draw down the number of U.S. agents during the unrest. . .

Portland police cleared out a park Thursday morning across from the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse that demonstrators have used as a staging ground, but reopened it shortly before dark.

Police said Thursday night’s demonstration near the courthouse was less violent, although people at times “lit small fires along sidewalks on surrounding blocks and attempted to light fires inside the fence at the federal courthouse.”

Under the deal announced by Gov. Kate Brown, federal agents sent by President Donald Trump began a phased withdrawal, with Oregon State Police taking over outside the building. But federal officials insist agents would remain on standby in case they’re needed.

How a Tattoo Gave Away a Suspected Arsonist

A suspected arsonist faces up to 20 years in jail for trying to torch Portland’s Justice Center — and he was easily identified thanks to a tattoo of his name on his back, according to prosecutors.

Edward Schinzing, 32, was one of 30 who broke into the area that houses the city’s police headquarters — under the cover of protests in late May, the Department of Justice said. . .

“Schinzing was identified by a comparison with a jail booking photo and a distinctive tattoo of his last name across his upper back,” the department said. . .

“Schinzing spread a fire that started near the front of the office by lighting additional papers on fire and moving them into a drawer of a separate cubicle,” the department said in its statement. . .

Schinzing was charged with using fire to ‘maliciously damage’ the city’s Justice Center. (Read more from “How a Tattoo Gave Away a Suspected Arsonist” HERE)

Oregon Governor Declares Federal Agents Are Leaving Portland, but DHS Says Not So Fast

By Washington Times. The governor of Oregon announced on Wednesday that federal officers will be leaving the city of Portland starting on Thursday, but the Department of Homeland Security signaled that a withdrawal won’t be happening so quickly.

“After my discussions with VP Pence and others, the federal government has agreed to withdraw federal officers from Portland,” Democratic Gov. Kate Brown posted on Twitter. “They have acted as an occupying force & brought violence. Starting tomorrow, all Customs and Border Protection & ICE officers will leave downtown Portland.” . . .

The governor’s team insisted to the Washington Examiner that all of CBP and ICE officials would be leaving Portland “on Thursday” and added, “A limited contingent of federal officials — who provide security year-round to the federal courthouse — will remain and stay focused on its interior. Oregon State Police troopers will be downtown to protect free speech and keep the peace.”

But a statement from acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf offers no timeline and suggests that the drawdown process will not be immediate.

“The Department will continue to maintain our current, augmented federal law enforcement personnel in Portland until we are assured that the Hatfield Federal Courthouse and other federal properties will no longer be attacked and that the seat of justice in Portland will remain secure,” Wolf said. Federal Agents Withdraw From Portland

By New York Times. Federal tactical teams that have clashed with protesters in Portland in recent weeks will soon begin leaving the city, Gov. Kate Brown of Oregon said Wednesday.

Under an agreement between Ms. Brown and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the governor’s office said the Oregon State Police will provide security for the exterior of the city’s federal courthouse, while the usual team of federal officers that protects the courthouse year-round will continue to provide security for the interior of the building.

Ms. Brown said the federal tactical teams that had deployed to the city would begin a phased withdrawal on Thursday. But Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement that though the department has agreed with the Oregon governor on a plan, the department will proceed with the withdrawal of security personnel in Portland only if federal officials are confident that federal properties will no longer be under attack.
