I Wish President Trump Was Right, but Not All Republicans Believe Life Is Sacred

I’ve always voted Republican because Republicans stood for life. Before I began really studying the political parties and our representatives, I remember getting frequent mailers touting the pro-life record of this or that Republican.

As I learned more, I realized the cynicism with which some of those Republicans asked for my vote. Living in a rural area, I was targeted as probably pro-life, and the mailers were sent to get me to vote on the single issue. Though I have had serious doubts about the other policies of Republicans who represent me, they are mostly OK on life issues, and certainly none of them could be referred to as pro-abortion.

When watching the president’s re-election kickoff in Orlando, I noticed his strong pro-life words and pride in his party.

“Virtually every top Democrat also now supports taxpayer-funded abortion right up to the moment of birth – ripping babies straight from the mothers’ womb. Leading Democrats have even opposed measures to prevent the execution of children after birth. You saw that in Virginia.

“Republicans believe that every life is a sacred gift from God. That is why I have asked Congress to prohibit extreme late-term abortions.”

But unfortunately, it is not true that all “Republicans believe that every life is a sacred gift from God.” Let’s take a look at Gov. Phil Scott of Vermont.

According to CNS News:

Last week, Vermont Governor Phil Scott signed H. 57, a bill affirming abortion as a “fundamental human right,” and which would allow abortion up to the moment of birth.

The bill states, “The State of Vermont recognizes the fundamental right of every individual who becomes pregnant to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, to give birth to a child, or to have an abortion.”

It also states, “A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.”

The so-called Republican governor of Vermont calls the killing of a child a fundamental human right, and he proudly signed this bill into law — one of the most sweeping and radical abortion bills out there.

Upon signing, Scott said, “Like many Vermonters, I have consistently supported a woman’s right to choose, which is why today I signed H.57 into law. This legislation affirms what is already allowable in Vermont – protecting reproductive rights and ensuring those decisions remain between a woman and her health care provider. I know this issue can be polarizing, so I appreciate the respectful tone and civility from all sides throughout this discussion.”

But what respect, if any, is the governor entitled to?

It’s been a constant struggle within the Republican Party for pro-life forces to win internal battles. This president has consistently been strongly pro-life, and this helps account for the resurgence of pro-life vigor within the nation. But it hasn’t necessarily done the same within the Republican Party.

It’s not like Scott signed some non-consequential bill. This bill denies protection for any human being within the womb, at any time, and allows for the most barbaric and torturous means of execution, even within moments of birth. Why doesn’t the governor figure out first if these executions warrant civility and respectful tones?

The Republican Party, in order to remain consistent, ought to censure or otherwise purge such radical pro-aborts from the party if we are ever to have the moral high ground. There is no evidence that Phil Scott is a Republican, other than the fact that he calls himself one. He touts that he is a fiscal hawk, yet a quick glance at his “fiscal hawkishness” shows a weak, weak game of promises made, promises broken, familiar to every conservative who ever tried to figure out what the Republican Party actually stands for.

And the governor of Vermont is not alone. Throughout the Republican Party, pro-aborts continue to try to knock the pro-lifers down and out of existence.

But there is a new wave of thinking. The acknowledgement that the child within the womb has rights given to him by God, and not by government, as the quintessential “fundamental human right,” is what this nation was built upon. Our Declaration of Independence declares, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

To our Founders, it was obvious that the Creator bestowed upon us the right to life. It cannot be taken away by a vicious and twisted government, whether Republican or Democrat.

It is sad that what the president said about Republicans is not entirely, unmistakably true. It is wishful thinking that the party could actually say without equivocation that we stand for the fundamental right to life, but with people like Governor Scott claiming he’s one of us, we certainly cannot. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Lets Stand $195,000 Fine Against Anti-Abortion Activist Who Exposed Alleged Fetal Tissue Sales

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals let stand a $195,000 fine against an anti-abortion activist and his lawyers last week, Courthouse News reported. . .

Anti-abortion activist David Daleiden — who recorded undercover videos exposing alleged fetal tissue trafficking by Planned Parenthood — appealed the fine, but the three-judge Ninth Circuit panel dismissed it, saying it doesn’t have jurisdiction to review the findings until the case’s final judgment is reached, the outlet said.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick III in 2016 granted the National Abortion Federation’s request to block the release of videos, citing the safety and privacy of abortion providers, Courthouse News said. But in 2017 Daleiden’s criminal defense lawyers Steve Cooley and Brentford Ferreira posted links to the videos and abortion providers’ names on their website — all of which were presented as evidence to support Daleiden defense, the outlet said.

But Orrick ruled the latter actions violated his injunction against further disclosure and ordered Daleiden and his lawyers to pay $195,000 to the National Abortion Federation to cover legal fees and costs for added security due to the videos’ release, Courthouse News said. . .

Orrick said he reviewed hundreds of hours of videos and found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the abortionists, Courthouse News said, adding that the judge said Daleiden misleadingly edited videos to make it appear as though abortion providers were breaking the law.

2020 Dem: Being Pro-Life Is the Same as Being Racist

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) compared pro-life beliefs to racism and suggested the pro-life viewpoint is “not acceptable” during an interview with the Des Moines Register.

Gillibrand’s comments came in response to a question about if having a litmus test for judicial nominees would threaten judicial independence. The senator has promised to only appoint justices who would uphold Roe v. Wade.

“I think there’s some issues that have such moral clarity that we have as a society decided that the other side is not acceptable. Imagine saying that it’s okay to appoint a judge who’s racist or anti-Semitic or homophobic. Asking someone to appoint someone who takes away basic human rights of any group of people in America—I don’t think that those are political issues anymore,” Gillibrand said.

“And we believe in this country in the separation of church and state, and I respect the rights of every American to hold their religious beliefs true to themselves, but our country and our Constitution has always demanded that we have a separation of church and state,” Gillibrand continued. “And all these efforts by President Trump and other ultra-radical conservative judges and justices to impose their faith on Americans is contrary to our Constitution and that’s what this is. And so I believe that for all of these issues, they are not issues that there is a fair other side. No Sanctuary for the Unborn: These 42 Prosecutors Say They Won’t Enforce New Pro-Life Laws

A group of elected prosecutors from across the United States announced over the weekend that they would not enforce abortion restrictions in their jurisdictions.

“As elected prosecutors, we took an oath to uphold both the U.S. Constitution and the Constitutions of our individual states. Our U.S. Supreme Court, in deciding Roe v. Wade, determined that every woman has a fundamental right to privacy which is ‘broad enough to encompass a woman’s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy,’” a statement from the group reads. “As some elected prosecutors have noted, the broad restrictions in the laws passed by these states appear to be unconstitutional under Roe v. Wade.”

The group’s announcement comes in response to a wave of pro-life legislation across the United States. In addition to Alabama’s near-total outlaw of abortion last month, other states including Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Iowa have enacted laws outlawing abortion after the child’s heartbeat has been detected.

“Not all of us agree on a personal or moral level on the issue of abortion,” the statement continues. “What brings us together is our view that as prosecutors we should not and will not criminalize healthcare decisions such as these – and we believe it is our obligation as elected prosecutors charged with protecting the health and safety of all members of our community to make our views clear.”

This group doesn’t look much like a groundswell of resistance from within pro-life jurisdictions, by any stretch. Of the group of 42 officials listed on the document, only three hold office in Georgia, one holds office in Alabama, and one is from Ohio. Others on the list come from states with far more permissive abortion laws, such as New York and California.

“Prosecutors are entrusted with immense discretion. This Hotel Has a Disgusting Offer for Southern Women Wanting Abortions

After multiple states in the south passed pro-life bills prohibiting women from obtaining an abortion once a fetus’ heartbeat is detected – commonly referred to as “heartbeat bills – the owner of the Yale Hotel in Michigan has invited women to come to her state to stay at her hotel while they obtain an abortion.

The owner, 55-year-old Shelley O’Brien said she couldn’t sit by and watch. She had to do something to help women wanting to obtain an abortion. The mother of three and grandmother of seven said she thought of the Underground Railroad. During slavery, the Underground railroad was used to free slaves by bringing them to the north. O’Brien said she thought a similar thing could happen with women wanting to obtain abortions.

“This is important. This is my line. There’s no coming back from this. You start taking away the right for women to control their own bodies, and we’re done for as a civilization,” O’Brien told the Detroit Free Press.”I can’t stop what’s happening, but I have the resources to maybe help someone in that position, and especially knowing that women are coming from other states already.”

O’Brien posted on her hotel’s Facebook page, letting women know they could stay at her hotel for free if they were visiting the area for the medical procedure. After the initial post, she updated with additional resources, including organizations that provide rides for women to and from their appointments.

WATCH: 13-Year-Old Girl Gets Verbally Attacked for Denouncing Abortion

On Tuesday night, at a Raleigh, North Carolina City Council public meeting, a 13-year-old girl pleaded for the city to make abortion illegal, comparing abortion to slavery, prompting some members of the audience to shout her down.

13-year-old Addison Woolsey began:

My name is Addison Woolsey. I strongly believe that abortion is murder. I also believe murder is wrong, so I’m here to ask you to make abortion illegal in Raleigh. Abortion should be illegal because it’s murder. The definition of murder is the killing of one human being by another without justification and acting with intended malice. When mothers choose to slaughter their innocent babies they already have fingerprints, noses; they can recognize their mom’s voice. They can hiccup and their heart is beating … On ultrasounds the baby tries to run away from the disturbing instruments that try to kill the baby. The baby’s mouth opens wide in a scream when being killed. These babies are alive. They feel being killed. It hurts them and there is nothing they can do about it. There is no way around it. Abortion is murder.

. . .

Abortion reminds me of slavery. Owners said that their slaves were their property and they could do whatever they wanted with them. Just how moms feel about their babies. My hope is that in a few years we’ll look back at abortion and think, “That was so cruel. I can’t believe we did that. Just how I look back at slavery. The question is, who will you be? The slave owner? … Rosa Parks ? Or Abraham Lincoln? Who are you going to be? Make a choice. My choice is made. I’m here today standing up for what’s right. I’m here today speaking for those who can’t speak for themselves. Are you choosing to be like the plantation owner flogging the little black child?

The News & Observer reported, “Some of the anti-abortion speakers were shouting back at those interrupting Woosley. One man used his cell phone to film a woman sitting near the anti-abortion people. She flipped him off, saying ‘right here, pal’ and police officers took her out of the room. She was later allowed back in.”

Incredible: Smallest Recorded Baby, Born at 23 Weeks, Is Now Going Home Healthy

A baby who was born at less than a pound in San Diego, and who was the smallest-recorded surviving infant in the world, has gone home five months after being born as a healthy baby, according to the Associated Press.

Saybie (the name used by the doctors caring for the baby at the hospital) was born at 23 weeks and three days, and weighed in at a mere 8.6 ounces at birth. She was able to go home this month, weighing about five pounds after spending five months in neonatal intensive care.

“After experiencing severe pregnancy complications, Saybie’s mother gave birth via emergency cesarean section at 23 weeks, 3 days gestation in the womb,” a hospital representative said at a press conference. “Doctors said the preterm birth was necessary after they found that the baby was not gaining weight and her mother’s life was at immediate risk.” . . .

Saybie’s inspiring story of survival comes during a time when the abortion debate is as contentious as it has ever been. States such as Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana have passes pro-life laws establishing the right to life for unborn babies and banning abortions at six weeks of pregnancy, or in Alabama’s case, altogether (except to save the life of the mother). Disabled Girl Who Was Horribly Shamed Online by Abortion Activists Dies ‘After Living Life to the Fullest’

The Cornelius girl whose facial deformity made her both a target of social media trolls and a symbol of public acceptance of people with disabilities has died, her mother said.

A Twitter user early last year included a photo of Sophia Weaver in a tweet “as the poster child to abort bc she’s disabled.” Sophia’s mother, Natalie Weaver, complained and the social media platform eventually apologized and clarified its rules on hate speech.

Sophia had Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that occurs mostly in girls and affects the abilities to speak, walk, eat and breathe, the Associated Press has reported. . .

Weaver posted an update early Friday: “‪Our #SweetSophia left this earth last night as she spent every day of her life, surrounded by love & adoration…. Once we pull ourselves from this heart shattering pain we will continue to help others in her memory.” . . .

Weaver had advocated for her daughter, and for the public acceptance of other children with disabilities and facial deformities, well before the Twitter incident. She’s co-founder of the nonprofit Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC. Pro-Life Dem: More African-American Babies ‘Die at the Hands of Abortionists’ Than Any Other Cause

State Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-La.) laid out a strategy to convince her fellow Democrats to support life, in particular, pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, which Planned Parenthood slams as “fake clinics.” She said she came up with the cause at a conference Wednesday with the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA). She suggested that turning abortion into a social justice issue should move Democrats toward supporting life, and she condemned the abortion of black babies as a “modern-day genocide,” rooted in historic racism and eugenics.”

“It’s time for us to change the conversation and start addressing issues besides abortion,” Jackson told PJ Media in an interview. “How my advocacy and that of others includes post-birth resources for the mother and her child, for indigent families — that truly is what resonates with Democrats throughout our nation.”

Democrats should be moved by “what NIFLA does outside of choosing life, how they work with the mother and the family after she chooses life,” the pro-life Democrat argued. NIFLA provides legal resources for pro-life pregnancy centers. These centers provide over $100 million in free or low-cost services to mothers and babies, including: pregnancy testing; medical services (ultrasounds, medical exams, prenatal care, STD testing and treatment, etc.); prenatal development and parenting education; material assistance; after abortion recovery support; referrals for medical care; and links to community and public health resources, among other things.

Yet one of the largest obstacles to Democrats seeing these pregnancy centers for what they are is — Planned Parenthood itself. The abortion lobbying industry has branded pregnancy centers “fake clinics” because they do not provide or refer women for abortions. In fact, California passed a law turning these pro-life clinics into “abortion referral agencies,” based on the claim that they are “fake clinics.” The Supreme Court struck down the California law because it violated the centers’ free speech, but Connecticut is considering a similar law now. Abortion Activist Sickening Comments Caught on Video: ‘Pro-Lifers Deserve to Be Shot’

At a pro-abortion “Stop the Bans” protest on Tuesday, an angry activist blocked a pro-life protester, accusing the pro-life side of violence and eventually saying pro-life activists “should be shot.”

The pro-life group Created Equal published footage of the confrontation in front of the Ohio statehouse on Wednesday. The “Stop the Bans” movement aims to protest the recent Alabama abortion bill, which mounts a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade (1973), the Supreme Court decision legalizing the killing of unborn babies. . .

Pro-lifers often point to the murders committed by abortionists as proof of such violence, but PJ Media was unable to confirm that the abortionists killed people for their pro-life activism. In some cases, abortionists killed their wives, who were themselves pro-abortion. By contrast, there have been a few isolated cases of pro-life activists killing abortionists, such as George Tiller in 2009. . .

“Do you think pro-lifers should be shot?” the pro-life protester asked. “Yes.” The pro-lifer responded, “Can you say that again to the camera?” . . .
