Author Asks Pro-Lifers What They’ve Done to Help Lower Income Single Mothers, Gets Flood of Remarkable Answers

A question directed at pro-lifers tweeted out by an author critical of Alabama’s “heartbeat bill” prompted a flood of responses that ended up demonstrating the personal, proactive generosity of many in the pro-life movement.

In a tweet pointed out by Twitchy, “blue-check” author and Times of Israel blogger Sarah Tuttle-Singer wrote: “Dear Pro-Life friends: what have you *personally* done to support lower income single mothers? I’ll wait:”

After the overwhelming response, the author and blogger issued some follow-up tweets praising the personal generosity of pro-lifers, while suggesting the government needs to step in to do more.

“I am delighted to see that there are good people out there supporting struggling single moms:) wish our government did more, too!” she wrote. “It’s wonderful to see so many pro life people personally doing things to help struggling single moms – but what about the government? And what about better sex education and easier access to contraception?” (Read more from “Author Asks Pro-Lifers What They’ve Done to Help Lower Income Single Mothers, Gets Flood of Remarkable Answers” HERE)

Times Square Billboard Owners Refuse Space for Pro-Life Event

On Saturday, May 4, Focus on the Family [held] an event it’s calling “Alive from New York,” featuring speakers, live music, and a “live 4D ultrasound of a baby in the third trimester of pregnancy and broadcast on the jumbotrons in the middle of Manhattan.” New York became a focal point of the abortion debate in January, when the state enacted a law effectively permitting abortion-on-demand up until birth, to the cheers of Democrat lawmakers and left-wing activists.

“Nearly 60 million babies have been aborted since 1973,” the group explained. “In fact, just three miles from where we’ll be gathering on May 4th, sits Planned Parenthood’s largest clinic. Over 11,000 babies are aborted there each year, an unfathomable fact for anyone who loves and cherishes life. So, our goal is to fill Times Square with joy-filled people who are committed to protecting pre-born life.”

On Wednesday, Focus on the Family president Jim Daly announced that three of the companies who own Times Square billboards – Silvercast, Clear Channel Outdoor, and ABC Supersign – have refused to lease space for the pro-life event.

“In many ways, this blockade only confirms what we’ve long known,” Daly wrote. “There are many people who don’t want the world to see these images of preborn life, because the abortion industry is predicated on a lie – namely that a baby is just a blob of tissue inside the womb.” . . .

Pro-lifers support and abortion activists oppose ultrasound requirements for their ability to convey the humanity of preborn babies and dissuade women from abortion. Pro-life groups Save the Storks says that four out of five pregnant women who see one of their free ultrasounds ultimately choose life. Trump Administration Announces New Protections for Pro-Life Health Care Orgs

The Trump administration finalized a new rule in the Department of Health and Human services to protect the conscience rights of pro-life people and institutions in the health care field, officials announced Thursday.

The actual finalized rule is a pretty long one, totaling a whopping 440 pages in PDF form. The summary section at the top of the document states that the new rules are meant to step up the enforcement efforts of laws already passed by Congress to “ensure vigorous enforcement of Federal conscience and anti‐discrimination laws applicable to the Department, its programs, and recipients of HHS funds.”

A primary goal of the new regulation is to ensure that people and institutions in the medical field cannot be discriminated against by the government or others because of beliefs that bar them from taking part in or providing abortion. It also protects beliefs against contraception and “assisted suicide, euthanasia, or mercy killing.”

The enforcement of those new laws will fall to HHS’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR).

“This rule ensures that healthcare entities and professionals won’t be bullied out of the health care field because they decline to participate in actions that violate their conscience, including the taking of human life,” reads a statement from OCR Director Roger Severino. “Protecting conscience and religious freedom not only fosters greater diversity in healthcare, it’s the law.”

“Laws prohibiting government funded discrimination against conscience and religious freedom will be enforced like every other civil rights law,” explained Severino.

On a call with reporters Thursday afternoon, Severino went into greater detail on the scope of the rule, explaining that it’s meant to be an improvement over 2011 Obama administration regulations that have proven inadequate in the years since their enactment.

As an example of people who would be protected under the new regulations, Severino reminded reporters of the story of Cathy DeCarlo, a pro-life New York nurse who was forced by her employer to take part in an abortion, despite her clear, conscientious objections to doing so.

Severino also that the new regulations would even go as far as ensuring that pro-life medical students would not face discrimination because of their views, saying that medical specialities like gynecology and obstetrics should not be “pro-life-free zones.”

The rule stems from a 2017 executive order from President Donald Trump directing his administration to “to vigorously enforce Federal law’s robust protections for religious freedom.”

President Trump announced the new regulations during his remarks from the White House Rose Garden for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

“Together, we are building a culture that cherishes the dignity and worth of human life,” the president said, saying that the rules would protect the conscience rights of “physicians, pharmacists, nurses, teachers, students and faith-based charities.”

“Every child born and unborn is a sacred gift from God,” Trump added, to applause from the attendees.

Like other federal regulations, the new conscience rule will go into effect 60 days from its publication in the Federal Register. On the call, Severino told reporters that he expects publication to happen “very soon.” (For more from the author of “Trump Administration Announces New Protections for Pro-Life Health Care Orgs” please click HERE)

Good Friday ‘Way of Cross’ Services Commemorate Victims of Abortion

A national pro-life group says its “Way of the Cross” services celebrated on Good Friday at nearly 100 abortion facilities throughout the country will commemorate the victims of abortion.

Pro-Life Action League organized the services at which pro-life activists will “contemplate the suffering of Jesus Christ at our own modern day Golgotha, the abortion clinic,” said a profile of the event.

“As a society, we’ve become increasingly sensitive to the victims of injustice, and that’s to our credit,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, in a statement. “But we forget about the victims of abortion, starting with the more than 60 million unborn children who have lost their lives to legal abortion in the United States since 1973.” . . .

“There’s no better day to remember the victims of abortion than Good Friday, when we remember the suffering and execution of Jesus Christ, an innocent man who preached the value of every single human life,” Scheidler added, pointing out that the prayer vigils have become a central feature of the annual Holy Week religious observance for many pro-life advocates. Breakout Box Office Hit: Pro-Life Film ‘Unplanned’ Does Exceptionally

Despite intense media opposition, an “R” rating from the MPAA, and big tech censorship, pro-life film “Unplanned” is wildly outperforming expectations at the box office.

The biopic — which details Planned Parenthood defector Abby Johnson’s dramatic journey from abortion mouthpiece to pro-life crusader — has taken in an estimated $6,110,000 this weekend, expected to become the #5 movie at the box office. . .

Notably, “Unplanned” ($6 million budget) racked up a cumulative per-screen average of $5,770 per screen, edging out big-budget flick “Captain Marvel” ($152 million budget). . .

The pro-life film, unsurprisingly, has been thrown one obstacle after another due to its exposure of Planned Parenthood and the reality of abortion. “Unplanned” was hit with a controversial R rating from the MPAA and TV networks refused to the film’s ads. On Saturday, Twitter inexplicably suspended the official account for the movie; however, after swift backlash, the “error” was fix and the account was restored.

“Unplanned” is centered around Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood executive who assisted with over 22,000 abortions before witnessing an ultra-sound-guided abortion that made her leave the industry.

Black Pro-Life Speaker Disinvited From University

A black pro-life speaker has been disinvited from visiting Cornell, due to her Christian beliefs about sexuality.

Jannique Stewart is a pro-life speaker with the Life Training Institute. Earlier this year, Stewart had been invited to give a talk at Cornell University’s Political Union (CPU) “regarding the fact that abortion is a moral wrong.”

But in a Facebook post dated March 23, Stewart shared that she had been surprised to receive a phone call disinviting her from the event because of her outspoken beliefs regarding Biblical sexuality. Those beliefs included the ideas that sexual activity ought to be reserved for marriage, and that God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman.

Stewart stated in her post that it was made clear to her that those views are what led to her being disinvited. She also said that the university compared her to people holding pro-slavery and pro-holocaust views. . .

When she told the Cornell group that they were being overtly discriminatory by disinviting her over her conservative views, they decided not to disinvite her, but still suggested it would be preferable for another speaker to come in her place, who did not hold such views. This Pro-Life Mom Got Tired of Fashion’s Support for the Abortion Industry. So She Started Her Own Brand

People are working to spread the pro-life message through cultural media like music, movies, and poetry, but what about fashion? One homeschooling Philadelphia-area mom has that front covered.

Carla D’Addesi and her daughters have always had a passion for shopping. “It’s our cardio,” she joked to me about their retail habits. But when they realized that so many of their favorite clothing lines were kicking back proceeds to organizations that didn’t share their views, they decided to stop buying in and start their own fashion line.

“We felt very marginalized by the fashion industry,” Carla told me at the 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). “There were a lot of brands that were anti-American or they were giving our dollars to organizations like Planned Parenthood that went against our core principles.”

The relationship between the fashion world and the pro-abortion movement isn’t a secret. In 2017, 43 fashion designers lined up to help out Planned Parenthood during New York Fashion Week.

Conservative corporate activism watchdog 2ndVote keeps a running list of companies that have either donated to Planned Parenthood or have given to third parties that do. That list includes several famous brands such as Converse, Dockers, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and Old Navy. And if you want to support America’s largest abortion provider more directly, there are several smaller brands that are more vocal about their pro-abortion stance.

Ultimately, the idea for the company started with a gradual “build-up,” Carla’s 18-year-old daughter Vittoria told me. “Over time we would joke about it, you know, ‘Mom, you’re gonna have to start sewing soon, because there’s no more stores.’”

“Then one day,” Vittoria continued, “like a good Italian family, we’re sitting at our dinner table over a bowl of pasta and we were talking, you know, ‘What can we do? What’s something different that nobody else has done yet, but that can support the movement and be good for everyone?’”

“My family sits around the dinner table and we do discuss religion and politics from the time the kids were little,” Carla explained, noting that she also homeschooled her three daughters. “We have always stood outside of the Planned Parenthoods and prayed. We have been at rallies. We do the March for Life. And we just saw that the Left so appeared to be reaching our kids in pop culture and we saw a huge gap.”

“So we said, ‘Let’s try and reach the other side for life by making life glamorous and starting a fashion line,’” Carla recalled. “So this is absolutely a brand on a mission for people on a mission.”

Carla said that recent controversies over late-term abortion laws and infanticide have only increased the market for her brand.

“And believe me, there’s never been a better time to launch a pro-life fashion line than today,” Carla explained. “Because forget about abortion; it’s now about infanticide; it’s now about botched abortions where there’s babies gasping for breath on the table and we are denying them the right to life.”

“We did the research,” Carla said. “There’s nine million teen, tweens, Millennial young women that identify as being pro-life.” And she and her daughters want “to empower them” and “to make them stronger and we’re using the medium of fashion to do that.”

Right now the COL 1972 site features pieces like hoodies, knit hats and sweatpants, and travel bags, most of which are emblazoned with the company’s logo. Over time, the goal is to build out more options for both men and women.

But where does the company’s creative spark come from? So far, COL 1972 has gotten some help from a designer in Los Angeles, but Carla says that she and the girls are going to roll out their own designs this spring with their “Life is Amazing” campaign when the weather starts warming up.

“So you’re going to be seeing beach bags, flip-flops, dresses that just have the simple message: ‘Life is Amazing,’” Carla says. “Because it is!” (For more from the author of “This Pro-Life Mom Got Tired of Fashion’s Support for the Abortion Industry. Radical Abortion Laws Cause ‘Dramatic’ Spike in Americans Identifying as Pro-Life

A new Marist poll commissioned by the Knights of Columbus (KofC) finds that just as many Americans consider themselves “pro-life” as “pro-choice,” representing a surprising increase from a poll the same organization released just a month ago.

Last month, Marist released its annual abortion survey, which found that just 38% of Americans considered themselves “pro-life” versus 55% “pro-choice,” with an additional 7% unsure. 48% of Americans said they would either completely ban abortions or limit them to cases of rape, incest, or to save a mother’s life; the rest of the findings indicated overwhelming majority support for restricting abortion much more than it is today.

On Monday, Marist released another poll, which now finds the “pro-life” and “pro-choice” labels tied at 47% with 6% unsure, and a combined 58% of Americans who would ban all or most abortions. Only 21% of Americans would allow elective abortions past the first trimester, down from 24%

Assuming the numbers aren’t outliers, they appear to be a reaction to a month’s worth of national attention on a series of bills proposed in several states that would allow effectively unrestricted abortion up until birth, as well as congressional Democrats’ opposition to legislation that would mandate medical care for infants who survive attempted abortions.

“Current proposals that promote late-term abortion have reset the landscape and language on abortion in a pronounced – and very measurable – way,” Marist Poll director Barbara Carvalho said. “The recent legal changes to late-term abortion and the debate which followed have not gone unnoticed by the general public. In just one month, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of Americans who see themselves as pro-life and an equally notable decline in those who describe themselves as pro-choice.” (Read more from “Radical Abortion Laws Cause ‘Dramatic’ Spike in Americans Identifying as Pro-Life” HERE)

Focus on the Family Plans to Broadcast Live 4D Ultrasounds on Giant Screen in Times Square

In response to New York’s recent decision to allow abortions up to the moment of birth, Focus on the Family has launched “See Life Clearly,” the largest pro-life effort in the history of the organization.

The global Christian ministry’s campaign will conclude on May 4 with “Alive from New York,” featuring live 4D ultrasounds that will be broadcast across the large monitors in Times Square.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating life in the middle of Manhattan this coming May. Times Square is known as ‘The Crossroads of the World’ and we’re at a crossroad as a nation regarding life,” Focus on the Family President Jim Daly told TheBlaze in an email. “Do we really want to be part of the Abortion Axis of Evil – like China, North Korea and Vietnam that allows abortion for any reason after 20 weeks? We’re hearing from people all over the country who are disgusted by the blatant disregard for life. Enough is enough!”

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly believes the images of a baby inside a mother’s womb will be undeniable.

“We’ll have great speakers. We’re going to have music, but we’re also going to do a live ultrasound of a third-trimester baby. And with the 4D technology that we have, it looks like a picture of a 1-year-old,” Daly told CBN News. “There is no way a person is going to be able to say, ‘That is not a child.’ It is a child and we want everybody to see it,” (Read more from “Focus on the Family Plans to Broadcast Live 4D Ultrasounds on Giant Screen in Times Square” HERE)

Trump Nominates Attorney General With Anti-Roe v Wade Past

After a month of speculation, President Donald Trump has selected William Barr to be his new permanent attorney general.

“I want to confirm that Bill Barr, one of the most respected jurists in the country, highly respected lawyer, former attorney general under the Bush administration, a terrific man, a terrific person, a brilliant man,” Trump said Friday, CNN reports. “I did not know him until recently when I went through the process of looking at people and he was my first choice from day one, respected by Republicans and respected by Democrats.”

A veteran of the CIA and Justice Department since the 1970s, Barr has already held the position of Attorney General during the first Bush administration, for which the Senate confirmed him unanimously.

“The president’s selection of Bill Barr as the next attorney general is a continuation of this law and order presidency,” said Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, who has been serving in a temporary capacity ever since Trump fired his predecessor Jeff Sessions last month. “Bill is supremely qualified, highly respected at the Department of Justice, and will continue to support the men and women in blue. I commend the president for this excellent choice.”

Trump asked for Sessions’ resignation the day after the 2018 midterm elections, in which Republicans expanded their control of the Senate but lost the House of Representatives. The president had long been dissatisfied with the pro-life appointee’s handling of both the Russia investigation and scandals involving the previous administration.
