Multiple School Districts Scrap ‘Nonsense’ Transgender Policies

Two New Jersey school districts voted to get rid of their state-recommended transgender school policies last week.

The board for the Franklin Lakes School District about 20 miles east of New York City voted 5-4 on Thursday to scrap its adoption of a transgender school policy recommended by the state.

Just a few miles away and on the same day, the Westwood Regional School Board voted 5-2 to toss the state’s transgender guidance as well.

The state’s version of the transgender policy states that school staff should keep a student’s new gender identity hidden from their parents unless the student gives permission or if there is a risk to the student’s health and safety. The policy also says trans-identifying students must be allowed to use the bathrooms and play on the sports teams that correspond with their gender identity. High School Student Fails Quiz for Answering ‘Only Women Can Get Pregnant’

A history teacher at a Seattle high school allegedly gave a student a failing quiz grade after he answered that only women can get pregnant and only men can have penises.

A 10th-grade Ethnic Studies World History teacher at Chief Sealth International High School administered the quiz. The test focused on “understanding gender vs. sex” and asked students to answer a series of multiple-choice and true or false questions. . .

Question 4 of the exam asked students to identify whether the statement “All men have penises” is true or false. The student marked the statement true, which was labeled as incorrect by the teacher.

Question 7 of the quiz similarly asked students to identify whether the statement “only women can get pregnant” was true or false. The teacher again marked the student’s answer incorrect when he said the statement was true.

Parents Fume After Trans-Identifying Boy Wins Regional Dancing Competition, Heads to World Championship: Report

A teenage boy who identifies as transgender reportedly took first place this past weekend in the under-14 category at the 2023 Southern Region Oireachtas Irish dancing competition in Dallas, Texas, ultimately displacing a girl for a spot in the Irish Dancing World Championships.

As rules are changed to adhere to radical Left-wing gender theory, biological male athletes who identify as female have been able to infiltrate girls and women’s spaces and sports.

“My daughter was in absolute tears,” one mother of a girl who competed against the male told Daily Signal reporter Mary Margaret Olohan. “She was like, ‘This is so unfair.’ I totally agree.”

“Oh, my gosh. It’s going to make me cry,” another parent said. “I never thought I was going to have to deal with this. And my heart breaks for my daughter and the other girls that are having to deal with this. They are too young to have to deal with topics that are going on in society, that are adult topics, that they don’t quite comprehend yet.”

“They just look at it as unfair,” the mother added. “And it’s really hard to explain to them what’s going on and why they have to accept it. That’s what society’s making them do. As a mom, I want to be an advocate for my daughter. Study Confirms Body Mutilations Are ‘No Cure’ for Mental Health Issues

A new study shows that people who experience gender dysphoria cannot expect various mental health issues to disappear by having gender reassignment surgery, according to a report in the Washington Stand. . .

The study noted that those with gender dysphoria “present with many more common psychiatric needs” than a population in general, “even when medical GR [gender-reassignment] interventions are carried out.” . . .

The study reviewed cases of more than 3,600 people who reached out to “nationally centralized gender identity services” in Finland from 1996 to 2019, and found 38.4% got cross-sex hormones or surgical “reassignment.”

Then researchers lined up eight other people “of the same sex, age, and place birth,” resulting in a control population of nearly 30,000.

Comparing the groups, the authors found “a much higher risk that a person with gender dysphoria will need ‘specialist-level psychiatric treatment’ (most often for mood disorders and anxiety) than their age-matched controls, and that they will receive more care after entering the system,” the report noted. Representatives and witnesses highlighted concerns for girls and women during a contentious hearing on Tuesday challenging the Biden administration’s proposed changes to Title IX, which would effectively broaden the definition of sex to include “gender identity.”

The proposed changes would rewrite Title IX in such a way that policies banning biological males who identify as trans from competing with or against females would now be in violation of law. Issuing such sex distinctions to protect girls sports, therefore, could strip a school of its funding. The rule would be applied to public K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions that receive federal funding.

The hearing opened with a rather fiery interaction between former NCAA swimmer-turned-advocate Riley Gaines and Democratic Rep. Summer Lee (PA), who preemptively suggested Gaines and other witnesses’ testimonies would be “transphobic” and filled with “hateful misinformation.”

“And Ranking Member Lee, if my testimony makes me transphobic, then I believe you’re opening monologue makes you a misogynist,” Gaines said in closing her opening statement.

Lee interrupted the next witness to ask to have Gaines’ words taken down. Gaines chimed in, “Can I just ask, how it’s fair to be called transphobic —” before Lee interjected, “I never called you anything.”

School Assigned Girl to Sleep With Boy Who Identifies as Trans Without Parental Notification

An 11-year-old girl was assigned to share a bed with a male student who identifies as a transgender girl while on a cross-country school trip, according to a demand letter sent Monday. That girl’s parents are now calling upon the public school system to provide answers and clarification of its policies related to children who identify as transgender.

Represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, Joe and Serena Wailes are calling on the Colorado-based Jefferson County School Board and Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Dorland to clarify “whether JCPS will continue this practice of intentionally withholding information about rooming accommodations from parents like the Waileses, who object to their children rooming with a student of the opposite sex, regardless of the other student’s gender identity.”

“This practice renders it impossible for these parents to make informed decisions about their children’s privacy, upbringing, and participation in school-sponsored programs,” reads the demand letter, which was exclusively provided to The Daily Signal. “Additionally, our clients request information related to JB R-1 and the ability to opt out of this rooming policy for all future school trips.”

The Waileses describe how their daughter, who is in fifth grade, went on a JCPS-sponsored trip to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., in June 2023. JCPS had repeatedly told parents that the boys and girls on the trip would be roomed on different floors—and chaperones told the students that boys would not even be allowed to visit the girls’ floor, as well as vice versa, according to the letter. . .

The Wailes’ 11-year-old daughter, who is identified in the letter as “D.W.,” was assigned to a room with three other students, according to the demand letter. Two of these students were girls from her school, and the third student was a boy who identified as a girl (named in the letter as “K.E.M.”) who went to a different school. Court Order Attempts to Block School District’s Critical Race Theory Ban, Transgender Policy

A coalition of parents, teachers and students in California asked the court for an injunction Thursday to halt Temecula Valley Unified School District from enforcing policies that require parents to be informed if their child wants to transition and bans curriculum about Critical Race Theory (CRT), according to court documents.

The coalition, led by the Public Counsel law firm, filed a lawsuit against the district in August for its 2022 ban on CRT and later amended the suit to include a policy requiring schools to inform parents on matters regarding their child’s gender identity, according to the East Bay Times. The coalition asked for a preliminary injunction this week to halt enforcement of both rules for the duration of the lawsuit, according to court documents.

“As a result of the Board’s censorship, Temecula students are being miseducated and left behind the rest of the State. Unless stopped, the Board’s actions will place these students at a permanent disadvantage in preparing for college, careers, and participation in a diverse democracy,” Amanda Mangaser Savage, supervising attorney of Public Counsel’s Opportunity Under Law project, said in a press release. “The stakes could not be higher: This is the first case to attack, head-on, efforts to spread censorship throughout California.”

The plaintiffs claim that the board has created a “dangerous and damaging” environment and that LGBTQ and “students of color” are being “stripped” of their rights to an education, according to the motion. The motion states that teachers must “broadly self-censor” and asked the court to temporarily halt the policies.

Supporters of the policies said that they appreciated the board standing firmly in support of parental rights, according to The Mercury News. Education Dept. Investigating Alleged Incident of 18-Year-Old Trans-Identifying Student Exposing Male Genitalia to Freshmen Girls

In a move that could pit women’s advocates and transgender activists against each other, the Education Department has opened an investigation into an alleged incident involving a trans-identifying student exposing his male genitalia to freshman girls.

The Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), which investigates schools for potential violations of the anti-sex discrimination statute Title IX, said Wednesday that it would look into the incident, which occurred in March. The investigation comes as a response to a complaint filed by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL).

In its response to WILL’s complaint OCR says that it will investigate “Whether the [Sun Prairie Area School] District responded to a report of sexual harassment consistent with the requirements of Title IX.”

An investigation does not mean that OCR will determine the school district acted inappropriately when a student reported that a biologically male student identifying as a female entered the girls’ locker room and showered naked next to four freshman girls and exposed his male genitalia to them. School District Helps Students ‘Transition’ Without Notifying Parents in Plot to Bypass State Laws: Lawsuit

Arizona’s largest school district with roughly 55,000 students, Mesa Public Schools, is being accused of helping children “transition” their genders without notifying parents, according to a lawsuit filed last week.

Rachel Walden, a member of the governing board of MPS, accused the Arizona school district of a scheme to bypass state laws requiring parental notification. America First Legal filed the lawsuit last Monday on behalf of Walden.

According to a press release published by AFL, the district has been “encouraging and assisting students to identify as members of the opposite sex without notifying parents.”

“[S]ince at least 2015, MPS has maintained a policy of helping students who want to ‘transition’ their genders. Under this policy, MPS employees ask students whether they want their parents informed about the transition,” the AFL explained. “If students do not want their parents informed, MPS employees are required to keep this information hidden from parents. This policy of parental non-notification used to be explicit and in writing. After controversy arose in the local community about the non-notification policy, MPS revised its written documents to obfuscate the policy.”

The lawsuit accuses MPS’ new policy of “pay[ing] lip service” to state law while “still allow[ing] school employees to talk to students about their sexual identity without parents’ knowledge.” The board “never voted to adopt or authorize” the change, it added. Christian School That Protested Trans-Identifying Student Sues State

A Vermont Christian school that pulled out of a basketball game over a trans-identifying male player is suing the state for barring it from state tournaments as well as a state tuition program.

Mid Vermont Christian School in Hartford filed a federal lawsuit against the state in Burlington on Tuesday, alleging that the Vermont Agency of Education committed religious discrimination when it refused to designate the school as an approved independent school.

“Mid Vermont Christian and its students are being irreparably harmed by being denied participation in the Town Tuitioning and Dual Enrollment Programs and middle school and high school athletics,” the lawsuit states.

“This civil rights action seeks to protect a Christian school and its students and parents from unconstitutional religious discrimination and hostility,” the complaint reads.

Back in February, Mid Vermont Christian forfeited a girls basketball playoff game, saying a trans-identifying male player on the opposing team jeopardized “the fairness of the game and the safety of our players.” (Read more from “Christian School That Protested Trans-Identifying Student Sues State” HERE)
