Twitter Suspends Founder of Anti-Big Tech Advocacy Organization

Twitter suspended the account of Mike Davis, founder and president of the Internet Accountability Project (IAP), in what the tech company later said was an “error” that has since been reversed. Davis accused the Masters of the Universe of running a “Marxist-styled Censorship Department.”

The suspension occurred after Davis objected to the fact that Twitter appeared to be suspending conservative users who compared CNN’s Brian Stelter to “The Gimp” from Pulp Fiction.

In a statement, Davis claimed that Twitter’s suspension was retaliation for his work in Washington DC lobbying against the tech giants, condemning the platform for operating a “Marxist-styled Censorship Department.” (Read more from “Twitter Suspends Founder of Anti-Big Tech Advocacy Organization” HERE)

Twitter Suspends Politician After Saying Men Can’t Get Pregnant

Twitter suspended a member of Spain’s Parliament last week after the politician wrote on the social media platform that “a man cannot get pregnant.” . . .

Francisco José Contreras, a member of Spain’s right-wing Vox Party, was locked out of his Twitter account for 12 hours after publishing the politically incorrect statement.

Contreras was reportedly responding to a news article in which a transgender man claimed they were now a father after giving birth to a child.

“Es una mentira. Un hombre no puede quedar embarazado. Un hombre no tiene útero ni óvulos,” Contreras wrote in Spanish, which translates in English to, “This is a lie. A man cannot get pregnant. A man neither has a uterus nor ovaries.”

Twitter claimed Contreras had violated its platform rules against “hate speech.” Twitter specifically cited rules against “threatening, harassing, or encouraging violence” against people on the basis of “sexual orientation,” “gender,” and “gender identity.” (Read more from “Twitter Suspends Politician After Saying Men Can’t Get Pregnant” HERE)

Twitter Attempts to Discredit Arizona Election Audit Underway in Maricopa County

Twitter published an editorialized trending topic under its “News” section Thursday on the Arizona audit of the November election in Maricopa County, where the state Senate has ordered an independent review of the 2.1 million ballots cast.

The audit now underway caught the ire of Democrats and legacy media outlets who are sowing doubt on its necessity or legitimacy as state lawmakers demand the independent audit be conducted by an outside firm.

“Why some officials have raised concerns over the ongoing Republican-commissioned audit of election results in Arizona,” reads the Twitter headline above its trending topic. Users are led down a storyline constructed by tweets with links to articles from the Associated Press, New York Times, and CNN.

All sell the narrative that a thorough review of the results presents a dangerous threat to election integrity, and henceforth American democracy. (Read more from “Twitter Attempts to Discredit Arizona Election Audit Underway in Maricopa County” HERE)

WHOOPS: A Young Child Sent Out a Tweet on Strategic Command’s Twitter Account

An unintelligible tweet was sent out by the U.S. Strategic Command (Stratcom) Twitter account on Sunday night that left followers concerned and confused, the Daily Dot reported.

A small child accidentally tweeted “;l;;gmlxzssaw” on the Stratcom account, causing widespread confusion, according to the Daily Dot. After about thirty minutes, the accidental tweet was deleted and followers were asked to disregard the tweet. However, the message was retweeted 11,000 times prior to deletion, according to The Hill.

Stratcom emphasized the account was not hacked but rather the Twitter account’s manager left his computer unattended and his child accidentally sent the tweet, according to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by The Daily Dot.

Jack Dorsey Says Blocking Post’s Hunter Biden Story Was ‘Total Mistake’ — but Won’t Say Who Made It

Twitter doesn’t have a “censoring department” that blocked The Post from tweeting last fall, CEO Jack Dorsey said Thursday — but he wouldn’t reveal who was responsible for the blunder.

At a congressional hearing on misinformation and social media, Dorsey said Twitter made a “total mistake” by barring users from sharing The Post’s bombshell October report about Hunter Biden’s emails. . .

But Dorsey dodged a question from Rep. Steve Scalise about who decided to freeze the 200-year-old newspaper’s account. . .

“Their entire account to be blocked for two weeks by a mistake seems like a really big mistake,” Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, told Dorsey. “Was anyone held accountable in your censoring department for that mistake?”

“Well, we don’t have a censoring department,” the bearded and newly bald-headed tech exec replied. (Read more from “Jack Dorsey Says Blocking Post’s Hunter Biden Story Was ‘Total Mistake’ — but Won’t Say Who Made It” HERE)

Top Republican Condemns Big Tech CEOS for Censorship and Exploiting Children

The top Republican on the House Energy & Commerce Committee tore into three Big Tech CEOs testifying before the committee Thursday, accusing their companies of exploiting and profiting from children.

Committee ranking member Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), in her passionate opening statement, accused Big Tech platforms of failing to keep their promise to help people connect and build relationships.

“You have broken my trust, yes, because you failed to promote the battle of ideas and free speech,” she told the CEOs of Google, Facebook, and Twitter. “Yes, because you censor political viewpoints you disagree with. Those polarizing actions matter for democracy.

“But do you know what convinced me Big Tech is a destructive force?” McMorris Rodgers continued. “It’s how you’ve abused your power to manipulate and harm our children. Your platforms are my biggest fear as a parent.”

A working mother of three children, McMorris Rodgers is outspoken on issues of child exploitation on the internet, the dangers posed to teen mental health from overexposure to social media, and the responsibility Big Tech to combat child grooming and trafficking. Twitter Using Section 230 Immunity as Defense in Child-Porn Case

A lawsuit in federal court in California alleges Twitter allowed child-porn videos and images to remain on its platform after receiving complaints, because the posts didn’t “violate policies.”

The social-media behemoth is trying to get out of the case entirely by relying on the immunity from libel litigation it is afforded from Section 230 of the federal Communications Decency Act, reports the Red State Nation blog.

The law grants social-media platforms immunity because they are regarded as neutral platforms for the flow of information rather than publishers. However, many Congress members argue, Twitter essentially has acted as an editor by censoring or flagging as “false” certain controversial viewpoints.

Twitter allegedly refused requests to remove the pornograhic content, including of a 13-year-old who was tricked into sharing explicit videos and then blackmailed with them. The videos eventually were removed after an agent of the Department of Homeland Security intervened.

“Only after this take-down demand from a federal agent did Twitter suspend the user accounts that were distributing the CSAM and report the CSAM to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children,” the lawsuit said. Twitter Sues Texas AG to Halt Probe of Its Ban on Trump, Conservatives

Twitter is suing the attorney general of Texas for investigating the social-media company, claiming its censorship of conservatives is protected by the First Amendment.

Twitter permanently banned the account of President Trump and other conservative voices after the riot at the U.S. Capitol in January.

Paxton then announced an investigation into Twitter and four other Big Tech companies for what he called “the seemingly coordinated de-platforming of the President.”

Fox Business reported Twitter is claiming that Paxton is retaliating against the company for banning Trump’s account.

Paxton is seeking a variety of information from the companies such as their content moderation policies and internal communications. (Read more from “Twitter Sues Texas AG to Halt Probe of Its Ban on Trump, Conservatives” HERE)

Dr. Fauci’s Daughter Works for Twitter

The daughter of the coronavirus task force director Dr. Anthony Fauci works for the social media platform Twitter and some are calling it a conflict of interest.

Alison Christine Fauci, 28, has worked for the microblogging platform as a software engineer since 2014 after she graduated from Stanford University, majoring in computer science.

The connection between the controversial epidemiologist and Twitter had been reported at Heavy.com since at least March 2020 but it resurfaced as many questioned censorship of lockdown-skeptical voices on the platform.

She said on her LinkedIn profile that she focused on developing “ad formats for the Twitter for Android app.” That profile has since been deleted or made private.

Twitter has been among the big tech companies who have shut down the spread of those arguing against the efficacy of masks and lockdowns to fight the spread of the coronavirus. In one instance from Aug. 2020, the service suspended the Trump campaign account over a video containing information they deemed misleading about the pandemic.
