WATCH: 3 Underground Parties, Hundreds of People Busted for Violating COVID Rules in NYC

Authorities busted three underground parties this weekend in New York City for violating coronavirus pandemic rules, such as not socially distancing or wearing masks, the New York City Sheriff announced.

More than 200 people attended a party at a Brooklyn club with a sign on the door saying, “Members Only” early Sunday morning. Manager Geradino Luis Abdiel, as well as two club promoters, face several violations. . .

In Maspeth, Queens, authorities broke up a party of about 165 people around 2:00 a.m. inside a brick building where there was only one way in and out of the building, Fox 5 New York reported. . .

About 45 minutes later, more than 200 partygoers were found on the first floor and in the basement of a building in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn. Authorities found the revelers drinking in the venue, but the venue did not have a liquor license. Selective Outrage? Mainstream Media Outlets Are Freaking Out Over ‘Superspreader’ Super Bowl Celebrations

A host of mainstream media outlets published articles over the last few days criticizing football fans for celebrating in Tampa, Florida during this year’s Super Bowl, warning that by doing so they risked making the game a coronavirus “superspreader” event.

However, those same outlets had comparatively little to say about the large gatherings that took place after President Joe Biden’s election win or over the course of the last year during Black Lives Matter protests. . .

One glaring example of the double standard was exhibited by the New York Times, which published a story early Monday morning, headlined, “In Tampa, Super Bowl Celebrations Bring Superspreader Concerns.”

In the story, Times writer Neil Vigdor complained about how the streets of Tampa “teemed with boozy revelers into the wee hours of Monday, many of them ignoring pleas by medical experts to social distance and wear masks,” following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ rout of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. . .

Yet, in a story published in early November, headlined, “A Rollicking N.Y.C. Celebration for Biden’s Win, Well Into the Night,” the Times made no mention of the coronavirus risks, even as it noted how “thousands of people poured into Times Square” to cheer Trump’s ousting.

GOP Congressman Dies Due to COVID-19 Complications

Republican Texas Rep. Ron Wright died Sunday at the age of 67. He had been in the hospital for several weeks after testing positive for COVID-19.

Wright had previously battled lung cancer in the fall of 2020. He tested positive for COVID-19 in late January and was hospitalized. Wright’s office released a statement Monday saying he died peacefully with his wife “by his side.”

“Congressman Ron Wright passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on Feb. 7, 2021. His wife Susan was by his side and he is now in the presence of their Lord and Savior. Over the past few years, Congressman Wright had kept a rigorous work schedule on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and at home in Texas’ Congressional District 6 while being treated for cancer. For the previous two weeks, Ron and Susan had been admitted to Baylor Hospital in Dallas after contracting COVID-19,” a statement from Wright’s office read. Will the U.S. Dollar Lose Its Place as the World’s No. 1 Reserve Currency?

Some fear stimulus spending to offset the worst of the economic shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Federal Reserve’s injection of billions into the economy threaten the U.S. dollar’s standing as the world’s reserve currency.

Some investors have moved out of dollars and into gold. While it’s hardly a stampede, it could be seen as further evidence of the dollar’s increasing weakness. Others see Bitcoin as an inflation hedge, and last month investors drove the price of the cryptocurrency to $41,973, an all-time high.

Relax, a Cornell University economics professor said, because the dollar’s place in the world economy is secure.

“During this period of economic uncertainty and human loss during the global pandemic, the U.S. dollar’s role as the reserve currency of the world has been reaffirmed,” Andrew Karolyi, the Harold Bierman, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Management at Cornell University said in comments sent to Newsweek. UK Working on ‘Vaccine Passport’

The government is reportedly working on a “vaccine passport” in anticipation that holiday destinations like Greece will demand proof of immunity before granting entry to visitors.

Earlier this week, Denmark became one of the first countries in the world to commit to a government-endorsed immunity certificate. The nation’s Acting Minister of Finance Morten Bødskov said initially the certificates, which could be available by the end of this month, would allow for businessmen to travel overseas but could also be used as “extra security” when reopening Danish society after months of restrictions.

Sources speaking to The Times said the British government was working on similar documentation, as countries like Greece have said they prepare to lift quarantine restrictions for tourists if they can prove they have been inoculated.

A combined effort of the British Department for Health and Social Care, the Department for Transport, and the Foreign Office is working on the options for the “vaccine passport”. British officials have reportedly told Greece that it could rescue the country’s ailing tourism industry if it rolls out the documentation. (Read more from “UK Working on ‘Vaccine Passport’” HERE)

Lockdown States Suffer More COVID Deaths on Average

The 11 U.S. states that did not impose lockdowns over the fall and winter in response to the coronavirus have faired better than states that did, an analysis of public data shows.

The U.K.-based website Lockdown Sceptics noted that the models one year ago predicting that nations, regions and states that didn’t impose lockdowns would face overrun hospitals and massive death tolls compared to those that did lock down turned out to be wrong.

It was a model published by Neil Ferguson of Imperial College of London forecasting 2.2 million American deaths from COVID-19 that prompted President Trump to initiate the “15 days to slow the spread.” White House coronavirus advisers Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx presented the study to Trump, urging drastic action.

But the website presented a chart that shows the COVID death toll per million people by state, with the no-lockdown states in red. . .

The analysis found the lockdown states on average had 5.6% more deaths than the no-lockdown states. (Read more from “Lockdown States Suffer More COVID Deaths on Average” HERE)

Senate Republicans to Force Votes on a Number of Issues Including Checks for Illegal Aliens, Raising Small Business Taxes

Senate Republicans will force a number of votes on the floor Thursday to get Democrats on the record regarding a number of controversial issues such as giving relief checks to illegal immigrants and raising taxes on small businesses.

The Senate is planning to pass a budget resolution by Friday which would give Democrats the ability to bypass the 60-vote filibuster for their coronavirus relief package, however, Republicans plan on forcing votes on issues that Democrats might not want to put their names next to which could keep Senators on the floor until late into the night. The “vote-a-rama” has not occurred in over three years, where a vote can be forced on anything, The Hill reported.

“We’ll be getting senators on the record about whether taxpayers should fund checks for illegal immigrants; whether Democrats should raise taxes on small businesses in the midst of this historic crisis; and whether generous federal funding should pour into school districts where the unions refuse to let school open,” McConnell said Wednesday. “And this is just a small taste.”

Democrats such as Sen. Brian Schatz have not been thrilled with Republicans efforts to force the votes. As of Wednesday night, there were nearly 550 amendments that had been filed and likely many more to come. ‘Let’Em Die’: ER Doctor on Twitter Says America Shouldn’t Waste Time on Those Not Wearing Masks

An emergency room doctor posted a Twitter thread saying the country cannot “waste our energy” on those who do not wear masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cleavon Gilman uses the Twitter handle Cleavon MD and posted a 15-second video credited to an NBC reporter that showed people not wearing masks in a Naples, Florida, supermarket. He commented, “Naples, Florida. Let’em die. I’m so tired of these people. No vaccines for y’all.”

The comments generated backlash, with some responses suggesting the doctor should lose his medical license. Others backed him up, saying those protesting mask mandates should sign forms waiving emergency medical care.

First Federal Mass Vaccination Centers To Open

The first mass vaccination centers planned by the federal government are set to roll out in California.

The first two locations — staffed by employees of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Health and Human Services — will be at the Oakland Coliseum and the campus of California State University, Los Angeles.

Jeff Zients, President Biden’s COVID-19 czar, said the facilities are strategically located next to communities that have been hardest hit by the pandemic, according to NBC News.

“These sites in California are just the beginning,” Zients said. “We are working with, in partnership, in states across the country to stand up new sites and will have more to say on that in the coming weeks.” (Read more from “First Federal Mass Vaccination Centers To Open” HERE)

This COVID Vaccine Is Causing Bizarre Side Effects

The side effects of COVID-19 vaccinations already have been documented to include a sore arm at the point of the shot, feeling tired, headache, feeling achy, feeling sick, but they are expected not to last more than a week.

But now there’s a new one: COVID arm.

It’s caused by Moderna’s vaccine, and The Sun reports it appears around a week after getting a shot. . .

“We want to reassure people that [COVID arm] is a known phenomenon,” explained Dr. Esther Freedom, of Massachusetts General.

“Having a big red splotch on your arm for a couple of days may not be fun but the reality is there’s no need to panic and no reason not to get your second shot.” (Read more from “This COVID Vaccine Is Causing Bizarre Side Effects” HERE)
