Disaster Interview: Biden Falsely Declares ‘No One’s Being Killed Right Now’; Taliban Opens Fire On Protesters

By Breitbart. President Joe Biden claimed in an interview Wednesday no one was getting killed around the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, despite reports of 12 deaths in the area.

From the transcript:

TEPHANOPOULOS: Still a lotta’ pandemonium outside the airport.

BIDEN: Oh, there is. But, look, b– but no one’s being killed right now, God forgive me if I’m wrong about that, but no one’s being killed right now. People are–we got 1,000-somewhat, 1,200 out yesterday, a couple thousand today. And it’s increasing. We’re gonna get those people out:

Report Claims Multiple Fatalities After Taliban Open Fire at Afghan Independence Rally

By Breitbart. Fatalities were reported on Thursday after the Taliban opened fire at an Independence Day rally in a regional Afghanistan town where protesters were flying the flag used by the former Western-backed government.

The Taliban, which was lauded by Britain’s Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir Nick Carter, as wanting “an Afghanistan that is inclusive for all” only yesterday, is claimed to have attacked the rally where protesters flew the black, red, and green flag of the now-former government in the Kunar region’s provincial capital of Asadabad, according to Reuters.

There are conflicting accounts of the exact events in Asadabad. While Reuters notes a flag-waving rally marking the anniversary of Afghanistan gaining independence from Britain in 1919 being attacked, Al Jazeera claims the shooting followed a member of the crowd stabbing a Taliban fighter with a knife. . .

The Islamist fighters’ actions reportedly left several people dead, whether by the gunfire or the stampede it caused. Al Jazeera claimed “at least two” fatalities and eight injured. (Read more from “Report Claims Multiple Fatalities After Taliban Open Fire at Afghan Independence Rally” HERE)

Poll: Voters Think Biden’s a Weak Leader

A majority of American voters believe President Joe Biden is a weak leader, according to a poll conducted this week amid the collapse of the Afghan government to the Taliban.

Fifty-three percent of registered voters who responded to the Economist/YouGov poll said Biden is weak, with 47 percent calling him strong. Thirty-nine percent said they believe Biden is a “very weak” leader. The poll queried 1,500 U.S. citizens from Aug. 14-17 and had a 3 percent margin of error.

The poll covered a period that saw Afghanistan fall into chaos in the aftermath of Biden’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country. On Sunday, the Taliban captured Kabul and toppled the Afghan government, returning to power for the first time in 20 years. (Read more from “Poll: Voters Think Biden’s a Weak Leader” HERE)

Feds Warn Missouri: Your New Law Protecting Gun Owners Is Unconstitutional

The Biden Justice Department is warning Missouri lawmakers that the state’s new gun law is unconstitutional.

The department on Wednesday filed a statement of interest in a court case challenging the law, known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, which bars state and local officials from enforcing any laws or actions that violate Missourians’ Second Amendment rights.

In its 27-page filing, the DOJ argues that the law appears to be an attempt by the state to supersede federal laws.

“It purports to nullify certain federal firearm laws, prohibits enforcement of those federal firearm laws, and imposes civil monetary penalties on political subdivisions and state law enforcement agencies that enforce, or assist in the enforcement of, those federal firearm laws,” the department said.

Officials say it amounts to a violation of the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, which bans states from nullifying federal laws. (Read more from “Feds Warn Missouri: Your New Law Protecting Gun Owners Is Unconstitutional” HERE)

Biden Is Tougher on GOP Governors Who Defy His Mask Guidance Than He Is on the Taliban

Joe Biden is putting the screws to Republican governors who are defying the federal government’s mask guidance for schools.

I guess when it comes to opposing politicians, Biden is a holy warrior. But the Taliban? Not so much.

Biden said at a press conference that he would not “stand by” and allow governors to prevent local districts from “keeping students safe” by imposing mask mandates. . .

“I’m directing the secretary of education to take additional steps to protect our children,” Biden said at the press conference. “This includes using all of his oversight authorities and legal action if appropriate against governors who are trying to block and intimidate local schools officials and educators.” . . .

We might wish that Biden had shown this much fight against the Taliban, which now has 15,000 Americans at their mercy. He’s certainly dropping the hammer on Republican governors. (Read more from “Biden Is Tougher on GOP Governors Who Defy His Mask Guidance Than He Is on the Taliban” HERE)

Biden Lyin’: President Doesn’t Think Afghanistan Withdrawal Could Have Been Handled Better; Joe Doubles Down on Withdrawal, Snaps Over Question About Horrific Scenes; Support for US Withdrawal From Afghanistan — and for Biden’s Foreign Policy — Tumbles (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. During a portion of an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, President Joe Biden said that he doesn’t think the exit from Afghanistan could have been handled any better and “the idea that somehow, there’s a way to have gotten out without chaos ensuing, I don’t know how that happens.”

Joe Doubles Down on Withdrawal, Snaps Over Question About Horrific Scenes

By New York Post. President Biden maintains that no mistakes were made in the US withdrawal from Afghanistan — waving off the scenes of chaos, confusion and desperation in his first interview on the matter since the fall of Kabul.

“So you don’t think this could have been handled — this exit could have been handled better in any way, no mistakes?” ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos asked Biden.

And when Stephanopoulos tried to ask Biden about the horrific scenes of people clinging to and falling from departing US airplanes, the president grew combative.

“We’ve all seen the pictures. We’ve seen those hundreds of people packed in a C-17. We’ve seen Afghans falling –“

“That was four days ago, five days ago!” Biden cut Stephanopoulos, even though the images were taken on Monday.

Poll: Support for US Withdrawal From Afghanistan — and for Biden’s Foreign Policy — Tumbles as Taliban Takes Control

By Yahoo News. Amid the swift and sudden collapse of Afghanistan this week — and widespread coverage of the chaos that has engulfed the war-weary country as the Taliban seized control again — support for both the long-planned withdrawal of U.S. forces and for President Biden’s handling of foreign policy has declined significantly, according to a new Yahoo News poll.

At the same time, more Americans still favor the U.S. withdrawal than oppose it — and there are early signs that the political fallout for the president could be limited in the long run.

The survey of 1,649 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Aug. 16 to 18, found that while 50 percent of respondents said one month ago that they favored the decision to “withdraw all [U.S.] combat troops from Afghanistan by the end of August,” just 40 percent say the same today. Over the same period, opposition to Biden’s plan to withdraw increased from 22 percent to 28 percent.

Such a rapid shift is unwelcome if unsurprising news for the White House, which has struggled to explain how it failed to anticipate the speed with which the Taliban toppled the Afghan army and government, leaving diplomats and Afghans who assisted the U.S. effort scrambling to escape the country.

As a result, significantly more Americans now disapprove of Biden on foreign policy (48 percent) than approve (36 percent) — a sizable shift from last month, when the country was evenly divided on the question (42 percent disapproving to 41 percent approving). Notably, disapproval of Biden’s foreign policy increased by the same amount (7 points) among Democrats (to 18 percent) and Republicans (to 86 percent). Biden Says US Will Require Nursing Homes Get Staff Vaccinated or Lose Federal Funds

President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he is directing all nursing homes to require their staff be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to continue receiving Medicare and Medicaid funding.

Biden said he is directing the Department of Health and Human Services to draw up new regulations making employee vaccination a condition for nursing homes to participate in Medicare and Medicaid. The decision on nursing home staff represents a significant escalation in Biden’s campaign to get Americans vaccinated and the tools he is willing to use, marking the first time he has threatened to withhold federal funds in order to get people vaccinated.

“Now, if you visit, live or work at a nursing home, you should not be at a high risk of contracting Covid from unvaccinated employees. While I’m mindful that my authority at the federal government is limited, I’m going to continue to look for ways to keep people safe and increase vaccination rates,” the President said during a speech at the White House.

Additionally, the President announced that he is directing Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to use “all of his oversight authorities and legal action, if appropriate, against governors who are trying to block and intimidate local school officials and educators” who want children to wear masks in the classroom. Report: FBI Was in Possession of Viral Hunter Biden Video Saying Laptop Stolen by Russians — And Admitting It Would Be a Security Risk — As Early as 2019

A new report alleges that the FBI must have known as early as December 2019 that Hunter Biden thought Russians had stolen one of his laptops and would use compromising video stored on its hard drive to blackmail him or his father, who was running for president at the time.

The FBI’s knowledge of Biden’s beliefs would directly contradict what his father, President Joe Biden, told the American people in October 2020, when he insisted that videos, text messages, and emails from another abandoned MacBook laptop belonging to Hunter Biden were a Russian hoax.

Brian Della Rocca, an attorney representing John Paul Mac Isaac, told the Federalist on Wednesday that recently emerged video of Hunter Biden telling a prostitute he thought Russians might have blackmail on him was “definitely on the hard drive” of the laptop belonging to Biden that was seized by the FBI from Isaac’s Delaware-based computer repair shop.

“This new revelation establishes that, since December 2019, the FBI had knowledge that a second laptop had been stolen from Hunter Biden and that that laptop contained material making the Biden family a national security risk and subject to Russian influence,” Margot Cleveland wrote for the Federalist.

“Joe Biden surely received briefings on these risks well before his October 2020 denial of the authenticity of the laptop, so the question is: Did the FBI fail to provide Biden a truthful briefing on this intel, or did Biden fail to level with voters?” Cleveland asked. Joe Biden’s Disappearing Act is Not New. It’s How He Became President

It was a running gag throughout his candidacy for president. At 9 or 10 a.m. the Biden campaign would call a “lid” on the Democratic nominee. The once inside baseball term indicating there would be no appearances from the candidate that day came into the public parlance. Another day in the basement, we all laughed. Well, that joke isn’t funny anymore.

Last week as the Taliban stormed across the Afghanistan abandoned by Biden, he once again went into hiding. Somewhere amongst the looming trees and homey wood paneling of Camp David, he sat, most likely mulling over how his experts could have misled him so badly. The Americans he serves saw but a single image of their president, alone in a briefing room, staring at a Zoom call with those experts.

Finally Monday, amid growing pressure he emerged, to throw his predecessors, including Barack Obama, under the bus and pretend everything was going according to his plans. Except, he has no plans. He is barely even a president.

It was just a week ago that Biden was celebrating the Senate passage of his infrastructure bill. But even that, one of few victories in his seven months in the Oval Office, owed more to Democrats like Sens. Joe Manchin and Kristen Sinema than to his leadership. His victory lap on roads and bridges wound up in a multi-car pile-up as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo abruptly resigned and the COVID-19 crisis reemerged. WATCH: Pentagon Spokesman Admits There’s No Plan to Help Americans Trapped in Afghanistan

Army veteran Matt Zeller issued a strong rebuke Monday night on MSNBC to President Biden’s Afghanistan speech, saying he was “appalled” by the lies the commander in chief told the American people about having planed for every contingency. Zeller, a Biden supporter, said the administration completely ignored his organization’s actual plan for how to evacuate America’s Afghan allies safely. Even worse than that, however, it looks like the Biden administration still has no plan for how to evacuate American citizens safely.

Speaking to CNN, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby admitted he didn’t even know the number of Americans currently trapped inside Afghanistan due to Taliban checkpoints—only giving his “best guess” of between 5,000 and 10,000 near Kabul. He then acknowledged there’s no plan for getting those Americans to the airport safely.

“What is the plan to get these people to the airport?” CNN’s John Berman asked.

“From a military perspective our focus is at the airport,” Kirby said. “Right now though I don’t want to set the expectation that we are equipped and able to go out into the countryside and physically move people into Kabul. Our focus right now, the troops that we have there, are at the airport. The idea is that we can get the air operations, not only have they resumed, but to keep them in place for as long as possible.”

Where’d You Go, Joe? AWOL Biden Plans Getaway as Afghanistan Burns; Afghans in Taliban Crosshairs Plead For US to Stay; Americans and Afghans Brace for Siege of Kabul

By New York Post. Republican leaders are slamming President Biden for taking a long weekend out of the public eye as major cities fall to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Biden on Thursday sent 3,000 US troops to Kabul to evacuate embassy workers as the Taliban seized Herat and Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second- and third-largest cities — but he hasn’t commented publicly on the crisis since Tuesday.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Friday that Biden “must immediately focus all efforts on making sure there is a plan to safely extract all American service members and civilians still remaining in Afghanistan.”

“He also owes the American public an answer on what he plans to do to make sure the region doesn’t turn into a breeding ground for more violent extremism that will lead to large-scale global attacks of terrorism,” McCarthy said.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.) told The Post, “this strategy of putting your head in the sand and not taking questions is a way to not get associated with his military debacle.” (Read more from “Where’d You Go, Joe? AWOL Biden Plans Getaway as Afghanistan Burns” HERE)

Afghans in Taliban Crosshairs Want US to Stay and Protect Them

By New York Post. . . As of Friday, the Afghan government only controlled two other major cities, Kabul and Jalalabad. . .

“The Taliban is all around Mazar,” said a shopkeeper named Shamsula who appeared far more weathered than his 35 years. . .

He added: “But if America stays here, life would be good.”

Asif, 23, echoed that sentiment.

“We want very much for the US to stay,” he said in soft, halting English. (Read more from “Afghans in Taliban Crosshairs Want US to Stay and Protect Them” HERE)

Americans and Afghans Brace for Siege of Kabul

By TIME. As Taliban militants wrest control of Afghanistan by seizing one major city after another, Afghan leaders are scrambling to develop a strategy to defend the capital from the militants, while U.S. officials are taking steps to evacuate the sprawling U.S. Embassy in the center of the city, should Kabul fall.

Just as the U.S. deadline to withdraw from the country approaches on Aug. 31, Afghan forces have collapsed on nearly all fronts in the face of an eight-day blitz mounted by Taliban attacking cities in the north, east and south. The insurgents have captured more than a dozen provincial capitals, resulting in more than two-thirds of the country falling into their hands.

In a rare call on Thursday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani sought guarantees from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that American warplanes would provide air strikes against the insurgents to protect Kabul, current and former Afghan officials tell TIME. The same day, the Pentagon announced plans to send about 3,000 U.S. troops back into the city to help evacuate the American embassy and Afghan civilians who helped with the U.S.-led war effort.

The Biden Administration has thus far only committed to a limited air campaign supporting Afghan forces battling the insurgency. But U.S. officials say there will be U.S. air cover in support of the thousands of newly announced American troops heading to Kabul to complete U.S. military withdrawal.
