School Administrator Says Teachers That Don’t ‘Embrace Diversity’ Would Not Be Hired

A New York City charter school administrator was caught on camera saying teachers that don’t “embrace” sexual orientation and “diversity at all levels” would not be hired at his specialized schools.

Todd Soper, a Grade K-4 Assistant Principal at Neighborhood Charter Schools, was secretly recorded by Project Veritas talking about the schools’ onboarding practices in a clip released by the controversial outlet Tuesday.

Soper, filmed drinking a beer at a bar, told a man wearing a hidden camera that any applicant that answered a “Diversity-Equity-Inclusion” question wrong was an “automatic not hire.”

“If they [candidates] say that diversity is about — if they say something that lends itself to be colorblind, which could happen, like, ‘Oh, it’s like, you know, like everyone is equal.’ Those things that are well intentioned statements, but they’re missing the depth of understanding of how the intersections of our identity live out in the world. So, that person wouldn’t get hired,” Soper reportedly said.

Students at NCS’s two locations in Harlem and the South Bronx were also taught to embrace “identities that are based on ethnicity, skin tone and gender,” the administrator unknowingly told the outlet. Sex Fiend Who Nearly Killed NYC Man With Sucker Punch Freed Without Bail

A convicted sex offender who allegedly cold-cocked a man on a Bronx street — leaving him in a coma with brain injuries — was freed without bail Thursday after getting his attempted-murder charges reduced in the unprovoked attack.

Bui Van Phu, 55, was instead charged by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office with assault and harassment, both misdemeanors, for the brutal knockout punch last Friday that left 52-year-old Jesus Cortes unconscious on the street, according to a criminal complaint.

The victim required brain surgery and is now in a medically induced coma, authorities said.

The new charges against Phu are not bail eligible, and a Bronx judge cut him loose on supervised release at his arraignment Thursday, a spokesperson for the DA’s Office said.

The NYPD had charged Phu with attempted murder after arresting him Wednesday for the attack that appeared to have come out of the blue.

Dem City Primary Candidate Reportedly Appointed Dead Activist to Local Role

A New York City primary candidate is under fire for previously appointing a dead activist and several unknown residents to positions in the Brooklyn Democratic Party.

Dionne Brown-Jordan is on the ballot Tuesday challenging two-term Democratic Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus, who represents the 46th Assembly District, which covers all of Coney Island and Sea Gate as well as parts of Bath Beach, Bay Ridge, Brighton Beach, Dyker Heights and Gravesend. Brown-Jordan has served as the Brooklyn district leader for about two years and is the assistant treasurer of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.

Though she received an endorsement from Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., Brown-Jordan’s candidacy has been mired amid reports revealing that she used her role as district leader to appoint late Coney Island housing activist Alfreida Davis to a seat on the Brooklyn Democratic Party Committee on Dec. 1, 2020.

Davis, however, died a month earlier on Nov. 1, 2020, following brain surgery complications, New York Daily News reported.

The New York Post reports police think the attacker set off a “smoke grenade” before discharging the weapon.

The Post notes “at least five people were shot in the third car of the train and others were injured by smoke inhalation. A pregnant woman was among those hospitalized.”

NBC New York identifies the location of the incident as the Brooklyn subway station and notes that “several law enforcement sources said the shooter may have thrown a device before opening fire.” (Read more from “New York City Subway Shooting: 16 People Injured” HERE)

NYC Mayor Calls the City a ‘Laughing Stock’ Due to Rising Crime

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said over the weekend that his city is now a “laughing stock” due to its ongoing rise in crime.

The New York Post reported that Adams made the comments at the annual New York Police Department Holy Name Society communion mass and breakfast at the Midtown Hilton. He reportedly pointed out two separate shootings last week that injured a 3-year-old and 7-year-old.

“Anything goes in the city of New York,” he stated at the event. “The most important city on the globe has become the laughing stock of the globe.”

Adams noted that the violence in New York has caused a ripple effect in the rest of the United States.

“The dysfunctionality of our city has cascaded throughout the entire country,” he added. (Read more from “NYC Mayor Calls the City a ‘Laughing Stock’ Due to Rising Crime” HERE)

Startling Data Reveals How Many People Have Fled NYC During The Pandemic

The Big Apple’s population has been hollowed out during the COVID-19 pandemic — with Manhattan suffering the biggest population decline among all US counties, according to grim census data released Thursday.

New York County saw its population plunge by 110,958 or 6.9% between July 2020 and July 2021 — coinciding with the coronavirus pandemic.

New York City accounted for four of the top US counties with population losses.

Hudson County in neighboring New Jersey also landed in the top 10, which means the NY metropolitan region accounted for five of the top 10 counties with population losses.

Brooklyn’s population declined by 86,341 residents or 3.5%, the sixth worst percentage in the nation. (Read more from “Startling Data Reveals How Many People Have Fled NYC During The Pandemic” HERE)

Brewery Owner Compares Vaccine Mandate to Nazi Regime, Jim Crow

A New York City brewery owner sparked outrage online after comparing COVID-19 vaccine mandates to the draconian policies of Nazi Germany and the segregation-era South. However, he thinks the reaction was overblown.

“Everyone should have a basic human right what they decide to put in their own body,” Josh Stylman, 48, CEO of the popular Threes Brewing, told The Post. He was speaking out against the citywide coronavirus jab policies, which include requiring restaurant and bar patrons to present proof that they’ve been fully vaccinated prior to entry.

The controversy began brewing on Feb. 14 after the beer boss tweeted that “vaccine mandates are a crime against humanity” and “if you are not speaking out against them, you are a conspirator.” In a follow-up tweet, Stylman compared the policies to “early sentiments expressed in the Jim Crow South, Nazi Germany, Stalinism, Maoism, and other dark times in human history.” . . .

However, the restaurateur, who says he’s “pro-vaccine” but “anti-mandate,” said he felt that his statements were taken out of context.

“I’m not deluded enough to think it [the vaccine mandate] is like 1943 Germany,” Stylman, who said his grandparents were concentration camp survivors, told The Post. However, the brewer says he does see the parallels with regard “to banishment from public life,” adding, “I’ve heard this from my family.” (Read more from “Brewery Owner Compares Vaccine Mandate to Nazi Regime, Jim Crow” HERE)

Yuck: ‘Cryptic’ COVID Variant Found in NYC Sewers May Be From Rodents

The next variant of the coronavirus may come courtesy of NYC’s rat population.

A new study published this month in the journal Nature Communications has attempted to trace the origins of mystifying virus fragments found over the last year in New York’s sewage. The “cryptic lineages” surfacing from the city’s dank underbelly are different than all known COVID variants, leading scientists to believe a curious new version of the virus may be percolating in the boroughs’ sewage.

While some researchers believe the latest take on COVID-19 can be attributed to yet unsequenced human strains of the virus, others believe it is a new, rat-born variant.

“One of the amino-acid changes that we’re seeing in the virus has not been seen in patients. Ever. But this amino-acid change has been seen in rodent-adapted virus, which really says something to me,” Marc C. Johnson, a University of Missouri virologist and co-author of the new study, told Curbed of the reasoning behind the variant being born of rats. Rodents, he added, were not susceptible to the original strain of COVID, but can be infected by its Alpha, Beta and Gamma editions. Unvaccinated 5-Year-Olds Being Bullied by Police to Leave Restaurants Is New York City’s New Normal (VIDEO)

In a video that’s been seen by hundreds of thousands online, a 5-year-old boy is reduced to tears at a New York City restaurant as police officers tell his mother they have to leave because they do not have their vaccination papers.

“You don’t have the card? If you don’t have it, then you’ll have to leave,” an NYPD officer tells the family, who had been seated at a table.

Police told the boy’s mother that anyone without proof of vaccination could be charged with trespassing.

“If you leave voluntarily, there will not be charges pressed against you; otherwise you will be arrested for trespass. This is your only warning,” the officer said.

Several angry bystanders could be seen recording the incident and yelling at police officers about their rights being infringed.

Major City to Spend $500 Million Teaching Kids to Obsess About Sex and Race

Last week, fifth-grade teacher Amy Parker took the pages of the education site Chalkbeat to celebrate New York City’s initiative to promote “culturally responsive education” in its public schools. Parker introduces her essay by lamenting that “School taught me to hide who I was and what I valued” because it didn’t assign books with characters who had gay parents. But, at the same time, Parker also complains that she “was overly represented in the books [she] read and the classes [she] took.”

To make up for this injustice, Parker has now committed herself to providing a “culturally responsive and sustaining education” or “CRSE.” This means that she will pick texts on the basis of “representation” and “diversity” and emphasize racial and sexual identity in all her lessons. Instead of learning about the world and how to contribute to it, her students will now learn about themselves and how to become “agents of change.”

For these courageous efforts, New York City will support Parker and other teachers like her with a gargantuan sum of money: “Over the course of three years, almost $500 million will be allocated to CRSE so that our students are reflected in what and how they learn.”

While everyone is certainly entitled to her opinions, even bad ones, this becomes a problem when it comes with such a high price tag and threatens to become the dominant position of an entire profession. I may not teach in New York, but even here in Texas, this kind of thinking and the policies it inspires are increasingly common in our public schools.
