Highway Patrol Chief Investigated After ‘Transphobic’ Bruce Jenner Facebook Post

By Daily Wire. Chief Mark Garrett of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has been placed under investigation for posting a disparaging meme of Caitlyn Jenner on his personal Facebook page, which mocked the former athlete for presenting himself as a woman.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the investigation into Garrett’s Facebook post began when an L.A. Times reporter revealed it to CHP officials.

“The entry, which Garrett posted in April 2017, shows a photo of Jenner that is overlaid with a transphobic and vulgar message,” reports the outlet. “In bold type on Jenner’s image, it reads, ‘Anyone who says I’m not a lady can,” and then suggests the reader perform a sex act.”

Officer Garrett said he did not remember if he had shared the post or not, though he acknowledged knowing the woman who shared the original post. Several of his friends posted comments underneath that allegedly demeaned transgender people, according to the Times report. He added that the post does not reflect how he feels or the department’s values. . .

“That was a personal Facebook page, and it has nothing to do with the CHP,” said Garrett, the chief of the Los Angeles-area CHP.

The department has launched an investigation into the post and denounced the image. The probe comes as prosecutors are reviewing whether CHP officers in the East L.A. station broke the law following an announcement in February by Garrett that dozens of officers had been relieved of duty amid falsified overtime allegations.

“While the post in question appeared on a personal Facebook page, which CHP policy does not specifically address, the post is not consistent with the department’s organizational values,” spokeswoman Fran Clader said. Trump Says He Will ‘Seriously Look’ at Banning ‘Silencers’ – Here’s Why That Makes No Sense

A gun suppressor (or “silencer”) was used by the gunman in the recent shooting in Virginia Beach; now gun control orgs are taking aim at so-called “silencers,” and even President Trump is talking about a ban.

In a recent interview from the United Kingdom, President Trump said that he would “seriously look” at banning gun suppressors. He explained that he doesn’t “like” suppressors, but also doesn’t “love the idea” of banning them.

Perhaps the president will err against the gun-control impulse to “do something” by banning something. But Second Amendment advocates can be excused if they’re a little wary following the whole bump stock ban fiasco, where legally purchased hardware was mandated for destruction or confiscation by the executive branch without so much as compensation.

The biggest problem for suppressors and people who use them legally — as with a lot of firearms hardware — is that they get a bad reputation due to rampant misinformation.

Here are some facts to guide this latest debate.

The biggest point to make about suppressors is that they shouldn’t be called “silencers” because they don’t actually silence anything. That quiet “pew pew” sound heard in mafia and spy movies is fiction. Yes, the devices suppress the sound of a gunshot, but gunshots are still very loud even when suppressed.

When a gunshot goes off, the rapid expansion of gases from the combustion of the gunpowder in the cartridge causes a loud noise. Suppressors redirect that gas and ease its introduction to the surrounding environment, much like the way the muffler works on your car. (In fact, both devices were invented by the same person: Percy Maxim).

But just like a muffler can only muffle so much of the sound created by internal combustion, the same is true for a suppressor. The noise reduction is somewhere around 30 decibels, which brings the eardrum-busting noise of a gunshot down to the level of a jackhammer.

Also, suppressors cannot stop the whip-like crack that a projectile makes as it breaks the sound barrier. That’s why the gunshots were still clearly recognizable on the police scanner tapes from the Virginia Beach attack.

That’s why suppressors are far more useful at protecting recreational shooters’ hearing than they are at evading law enforcement, as explained in the following video.

In fact, in 2017, now-presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., got a “Three Pinocchios” rating from the Washington Post for suggesting that suppressors make police “less likely” to track down an active shooter.

“[A]lthough the popular name of this accessory is a silencer, foes of the law such as Gillibrand should not use misleading terms such as ‘quiet’ to describe the sound made by a high-powered weapon with a suppressor attached,” WaPo’s fact-checkers concluded. “There is little that’s quiet about a firearm with a silencer, unless one also thinks a jackhammer is quiet.”

Finally, it’s already a real bureaucratic pain to get a suppressor. The process to obtain one legally is similar to the process for legally getting a machine gun under federal law and is governed by the same over-arching statute: The National Firearms Act.

Purchasers have to be at least 21, be able to pass a background check, live in a state that hasn’t banned them, send an application with fingerprints to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), wait usually a few months if not longer for approval on the paperwork, and then pay for the $200 federal tax stamp.

May Apprehensions Reveal a Full-Blown Emergency at U.S. Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has released the latest statistics for border apprehensions in the month of May, reporting another massive surge in migrant individuals and families attempting to enter the United States illegally.

CBP released statistics Wednesday showing that more than 144,000 migrants were taken into custody, marking a 32-percent spike from last month and more than double the average monthly numbers reported from October to February.

Acting CBP Commissioner John Sanders has described the latest numbers as “a full-blown emergency.” He added, “I cannot say this stronger: the system is broken.”

“I’ve never seen anything like this in the 24 years I’ve been doing this job,” Brian Hastings, the Border Patrol’s operations chief, told the Washington Post.

There is a high likelihood that the May statistics set another new record for unique apprehensions, in addition to the documented records for family and child apprehensions in the May data. In the mid-2000s, statistics were inflated due to the same individuals and groups of migrants attempting to get into the United States multiple times.

Conservative Review has reported regularly on the eye-popping statistics stemming from the border crisis. This includes the fact that over one percent of the population of multiple Central American countries has attempted to illegally enter the United States.

President Trump and other U.S. officials have taken to describing the situation at the border as an “invasion,” citing the need for new policies and funding to stop the nonstop entry of illegal aliens into the United States.

Meanwhile, Congress continues to appear entirely uninterested in solving the crisis at the border. The latest House Homeland Security bill provides zero additional funding for Border Patrol agents, Border Patrol checkpoints, or bolstering the barriers at the southern border, according to Roll Call. Pelosi’s House Answers Border Crisis with an Amnesty Bill Containing No Border Security Funding

America is currently facing a massive border crisis, and House Democrats, along with seven Republicans, responded to it Tuesday evening by voting to pass an amnesty bill with absolutely no border security money or asylum system reforms. The final vote was 237-187.

H.R. 6, or the the “American Dream and Promise Act of 2019” would extend amnesty to at least 2.5 million illegal immigrants who were either brought to the U.S. as minors or have been on “Temporary Protected Status.” That number is well beyond the estimated 700,000-800,000 total DACA recipients. This would take the form of green card status with a path to citizenship.

“The Dream, and now Dream and Promise Act, is urgent for our country,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said at the bill’s introduction in March, before trying to sell the legislation under a few lines from a Ronald Reagan speech.

However, critics point out that the legislation would do absolutely nothing to address the border enforcement problems and legal loopholes that created the current crisis in the first place.

Conservative Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, took to social media on Tuesday to say the bill would cost the American taxpayer $34.6 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office, while providing “$0 (ZERO) dollars for border security” and no asylum reforms.

“What is it?” Roy pondered: “A complete dereliction of our constitutional duty to #SecureTheBorder and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis at our southern border.”

According to a summary sheet from House Judiciary Committee Republicans, the total cost of the bill comes from the combined estimated costs of the two bills that make up the legislation in its current form. The summary goes on to explain that “time constraints” kept the CBO from being able to calculate the potential public cost of aliens who could seek citizenship by violating the terms of their visas and then become eligible for green cards: “That cost is unknown.”

Other critics say that the bill’s barriers against applicants with criminal histories are too low. Briefing materials about the bill from the office of Republican Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., say that “applicants with several misdemeanor convictions can obtain a green card, even if the misdemeanors were violent and resulted in death or bodily injury.”

The bill’s language bars illegal immigrants who have been convicted of a felony or three separate misdemeanors involving total jail time over 90 days from getting green cards. It also disqualifies those who have been convicted of a “crime of moral turpitude” and those convicted of domestic violence.

Furthermore, the bill bars the DHS from using state and federal gang databases as the determining factor in disqualifying potential beneficiaries.

“The Democrats are making us consider a bill that will worsen — give a green light — to the border crisis, incentivizing more people to cross our borders illegally in hopes of getting a piece of the amnesty pie,” said House Judiciary ranking member Doug Collins, R-Ga., on the House floor Tuesday. “No doubt at this very minute, the smuggling cartels are getting the word out. … Congress is going to legalize millions, just get there.”

Meanwhile, the acting head of the Department of Homeland Security says that the current level of migrants in custody is “beyond sustainable capacity,” while this year has seen record levels of border apprehensions. Google Displays Trump-Daughter Photo at the Top Search for ‘Hebephilia’

By Breitbart. Google displayed a picture of Donald Trump and a young Ivanka Trump at the top of a Google search for “hebephilia” (similar to pedophilia, but attracted to pubescent children). The tech giant removed the picture after a Breitbart News inquiry.

Until Breitbart News made its inquiry earlier this afternoon, searches for the term “hebephilia” displayed a picture of a young Ivanka Trump sitting on her father’s knee during an event. The image appeared in Google’s “snippet,” the featured result that appears above search and is aimed at answering a searcher’s question right away. . .

After Breitbart News brought the search result to Google’s attention, the tech giant said it would remove the image from its snippet.

“Featured snippets are generated automatically to help people easily find pages that our systems determine may have the most relevant information,” said a Google spokeswoman. “In this case, the snippet included an image from another source, which was nonrepresentative of the topic. We are removing the image from this snippet in accordance with our policies for this feature.”

Google has policies that correct inaccurate snippets. However, the company does not have similar policies for organic search results (the ten blue links that appear on each page of search results) or Google Image Search, and the picture of the President and his daughter still appears at the top of Google Image searches for hebephilia. Trump’s UK visit: President says Britain’s exit from EU would be ‘very good’ for the country

By USA Today. resident Donald Trump predicted Tuesday that Britain would follow through with its plans to leave the European Union and said the exit would be “very good” for the country.

“I think it will happen, and it probably should happen,” Trump said at a news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

May, who is leaving office on Friday after failing to arrange Britain’s exit from the E.U., said she still believes it is in the country’s best interests to leave with an agreement for withdrawal. But she said she would not take Trump’s suggestion and “stick around” so the U.S. and U.K. can negotiate a trade deal once Britain departs the E.U.

“I’m a woman of my word,” she said, emphasizing that she will leave office as planned.

William Barr Is Washington’s Worst Nightmare

[William] Barr used the word “spying” during testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee with regard to his plan to look into counterintelligence activities against the Trump campaign during the 2016 election cycle. When he first uttered that word, it clearly startled every Democrat on the committee. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) immediately inquired if he really believed spying had occurred. Barr said, “I think spying did occur, yes.” That bullet continues to ricochet around the Beltway to this day. Indeed, his use of the “s” word was belabored at considerable length by Jan Crawford during the CBS interview with Barr that aired Friday:

On using the word, I mean, do you understand, and I know that some of the, some former intelligence chiefs have said that the president has made that word somewhat pejorative, that there is spying, this is a witch hunt, this is a hoax, and so your use of that word makes it seem that you are being a loyalist.

Having endured that word salad with his characteristic patience, Barr ignored the odd suggestion that “being a loyalist” was somehow improper. He did, however, make it clear that he had no intention of heeding the none-too-subtle attempts to stop him from using the verboten term. “It’s a perfectly good English word; I will continue to use it.” This is why Barr is so scary to Washington insiders. He’s an honest man with more concern for the truth than his popularity inside the Beltway. This has clearly caused considerable trepidation in the Justice Department, the intelligence community, the Democratic Party, and the media. . .

It goes without saying, of course, that the legacy media have denounced Barr for telling the truth. In his latest effusion for New York, Jonathan Chait informs his readers, “Barr has drunk deep from the Fox News worldview of Trumpian paranoia.” In response to the Attorney General’s common sense assertion during the CBS interview that it is unhealthy for our institutions to resist “a democratically elected president… by changing the norms,” Chait actually writes: “In fact, the opposition to Trump has been marked, on the whole, by its fastidious restraint.” This suggests that he should stay away from the bar before writing about Barr.

This kind of nonsense from the legacy media, combined with ridiculous claims by the Democrats that a man with William Barr’s record has no credibility and self-exculpatory balderdash from fabulists like John Brennan and James Comey, suggest that the real problem they have with the Attorney General is his blindingly obvious integrity. There are few things that scare the denizens of D.C. more than an honest man. The only thing they fear more is an honest man who doesn’t give a damn what they think of him. Revoke Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Marriage Fraud Immunity Card

If you are not a member of the Democrats’ protected class of bitter loudmouths who hate America, you can be investigated and prosecuted for marriage fraud. The headlines have been filled with recent crackdowns. . .

You wouldn’t know it from the radio silence of Democratic leaders regarding radioactive Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s long-festering and bizarre bigamy scheme (which she still refuses to address), but marriage fraud is a federal felony. As the Department of Homeland Security makes clear, it is a serious crime—not a victimless, harmless infraction—that “weakens our nation’s security and makes us less safe.” . . .

We have enough native-born scam artists and fraudsters without having to import more from around the world. But you know what’s even more of an insult than an ordinary foreign marriage faker? An entitled, arrogant, and unrepentant marriage faker hiding behind the “Islamophobia” and “sexism” cards. Yes, I’m looking at you, Omar.

Investigations dating back to 2016 by blogger Scott Johnson of Power Line (which recently celebrated 15 years in the blogosphere), David North of the Center for Immigration Studies, Alpha News reporter Preya Samsundar, and PJMedia.com reporter David Steinberg have determined that the outspoken Somalian Muslim refugee likely married her own brother named Ahmed Elmi in 2009 for some unknown ill-gotten gain while still informally married to the man she calls her husband and father of her three children, Ahmed Hirsi.

After a Somalian website floated questions about the marriage arrangement with Elmi and Johnson’s initial reporting broke into the local news, Omar sought to divorce Elmi. Her use of $6,000 in state campaign funds, some of which went to pay a personal divorce lawyer, is currently under state investigation. (Read more from “Revoke Rep. Poll: Majority Oppose Transgender Athletes on Opposite-Sex Teams

In his last year in office, Barack Obama unilaterally reinterpreted Title IX in order to bully public schools into letting biological males play on girls’ sports teams and use their bathroom and changing facilities or risk losing federal funding. As a result, the issue of biological males who “identify” as female playing on girls sports teams has become an increasing problem, even though Trump officially reversed this guidance in October 2018.

We’ve reported on a number of stories here at PJ Media of biological males who are breaking records by playing on girls’ or women’s teams. In April, a transgender “woman” broke world records in women’s squat, women’s bench press, and women’s deadlift. (Note: Those records were ultimately revoked on a technicality because the weightlifter had not transitioned yet). n February, two Connecticut boys playing on girls’ track teams broke state records, while actual girls found themselves unable to qualify for regional competitions, limiting their opportunities to be scouted by college coaches. . .

In a poll released Tuesday, Rasmussen reveals that “just 28% of American Adults favor allowing transgender students to participate on the sports team of the gender they identify with, letting biological males, for example, play girls’ sports.” Roughly the same number, 31 percent, favor allowing transgender students to use bathrooms of the opposite biological sex.

This is a policy that Republicans are in the mainstream, while Democrats are not. “Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans and 52% of those not affiliated with either major political party oppose allowing transgender students on the teams of the gender they identify with,” according to Rasmussen. “Democrats support such a policy by a 43% to 36% margin, with 21% undecided. Biden, Now 76, Attacked His Older Opponent’s Age During Senate Run

By Fox News. Former Vice President Joe Biden is one of the oldest candidates ever to run for president, but in 1972, he repeatedly attacked his opponent’s age in order to be elected as the Delaware senator, a report found Monday.

Long before the 76-year-old launched his third bid for the presidency, a 29-year-old Biden was running for Senate against the two-term incumbent, 62-year-old Sen. Cale Boggs, R-Md. And, his campaign made his youthfulness prominent in print ads. . .

It wasn’t just in print ads that Biden scrutinized Boggs for his age. The young Democrat told the press that Boggs “lost that twinkle in his eyes” and that he’s “just not a fighter.” He even spread rumors that he would retire two years after his reelection.

Nearly 50 years later, Biden’s age is now being scrutinized by 72-year-old President Trump, who repeatedly has referred to the former vice president as “Sleepy Joe.” Meantime, a fellow Democrat, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., called for a “new generation of leadership” in Washington. Joe Biden Accused of Plagiarizing Parts of New Climate Platform

By Fox News. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is facing claims that his campaign plagiarized at least five parts of the climate platform released on Tuesday.

The apparent similarities were first flagged on Twitter by a progressive activist. By Tuesday afternoon, most of the examples in the Biden campaign platform had been updated online to include attribution to a third party.

“The paragraph in Joe Biden’s climate plan about carbon capture and sequestration includes language that is remarkably similar to items published previously by the Blue Green Alliance and the Carbon Capture Coalition,” Josh Nelson, the vice president of CREDOmobile, tweeted earlier in the day.

Biden’s platform said, “Carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS) is a rapidly growing technology that has the potential to create economic benefits for multiple industries while significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions.”

Trump Hits Performer with Brutal Insult After She Shared Fake Quote

Performer Bette Midler has apologized for circulating a fake quote on Sunday that she alleged President Trump gave to People magazine in 1998 about a potential presidential run. But it appeared to be less than a full-throated mea culpa.

“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific,” read the quote she shared.

Midler’s followers were quick to point out the quote was fake. Indeed, the fact-checking site Snopes had done a review of the quote in 2015, debunking its authenticity when Trump’s White House campaign first started to gain steam. . .

Trump appeared less than impressed, though. He lashed back at Midler on Twitter, calling her a “washed-up psycho” who “was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make ‘your great president’ look really bad. She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!” Trump said on Tuesday. . .

“Yes, one must always check the quotes,” [Midler] tweeted on Monday. “That should take up, oh, maybe 23 of the 24 hours in the day? Because there are SO MANY LIES, most of them generated by Trump himself, that the task of separating the truth from the lies is impossible.
