Scientist Wants to End ‘Conservative’ Taboo Against Cannibalism to Fight Climate Change

Swedish behavioral scientist Magnus Söderlund said last week that humans must “awaken to the idea” of eating human flesh as a way to combat the effects of climate change.

Söderlund, a researcher at the Stockholm School of Economics, advanced the idea of eating people after they die Tuesday on Sweden’s TV4. He had earlier in the week held a seminar on the subject at the Gastro Summit fair in Stockholm.

According to Söderlund, as climate change makes food sources increasingly scare, people will have to learn to eat things that are now considered disgusting, including pets, insects, and most of all, human flesh, the Epoch Times reported.

A promotion for his Sept 2-3 talk read: “Is cannibalism the solution to food sustainability in the future? Does Generation Z have the answers to our food challenges? Can consumers be tricked into making the right decisions? At GastroSummit, you will get some answers to these questions―and also partake in the latest scientific findings and get to meet the leading experts.”

Söderlund, who is also a marketing strategist, told the audience that the main impediment to his proposal is the ancient taboo against cannibalism. He predicted that “conservative” attitudes would be an obstacle to its widespread acceptance in Sweden. But he said people could be won over gradually, starting with a tase. State Police: No One in New Jersey Has Surrendered a Single Large Cap Magazine Since State Ban

New Jersey’s “large-capacity” magazine ban hasn’t resulted in lawmakers’ desired effect as no magazines have been turned over and the state’s residents are reportedly hiding the banned magazines.

When the magazine ban went into effect in December of last year, state officials encouraged individuals to hand in their magazines, but residents have taken to stashing them in a massive vault instead of handing them in, according to NJ.com.

A New Jersey State Police spokesman told NJ.com that not a single large-capacity magazine has been turned in in the nine months the law has been in effect.

The law, which bans magazines with more than a 10-round capacity, does permit owners of the banned magazines to hand them over to law enforcement, modify them to only hold the permitted number of rounds, sell them to authorized owners or store them with an authorized company. . .

According to Eric Rebels, a local gun-rights activist, some gun owners have opted to bury their magazines in their backyard or set them behind sheetrock in their garages, despite the risk from these penalties. WATCH: Fox News Host Accuses James Mattis of ‘Selling out America’ for Getting Job with D.C. Firm

Fox News host Steve Hilton went after former Defense Secretary James Mattis for getting a job with an advisory firm founded by a former Bill Clinton official, accusing Mattis of “selling out America.”

Hilton noted on The Next Revolution Sunday night that Mattis was joining The Cohen Group, which describes itself as a global business advisory group that provides “practical assistance in business development, market entry, regulatory affairs and deal sourcing.” . . .

“General Mattis is now taking his years of taxpayer-funded government service to a firm that boasts about shipping defense manufacturing jobs overseas, selling American defense companies to the French and German and lobbying state and local government in this country to use your tax dollars not to buy American but to buy Indian,” Hilton said.

“What the hell is Mattis doing? Going from defending America to selling out America,” he said. . .

Hilton then went on to scold Mattis again, saying “it’s shameful for him to have anything to do with this swampy firm that shows no loyalty to the country that put it where it is.” (Read more from “Fox News Host Accuses James Mattis of ‘Selling out America’ for Getting Job with D.C. Firm” HERE)

Two Planned Parenthood Clinics Closing in Ohio After Funding Cuts

By The Hill. Planned Parenthood on Monday announced that two of its clinics in Ohio will close later this month after losing state and federal funding.

The organization blamed the closures on politicians who moved to “defund” Planned Parenthood for performing abortions. Neither of the two clinics performed the procedure, Planned Parenthood said. . .

Planned Parenthood gave up millions of dollars in federal funding last month after the Trump administration said the group would need to comply with a new rule banning it from referring women for abortions if it wanted to continue receiving government dollars.

Republican legislators in Ohio cut about $600,000 in state funding to Planned Parenthood this year after winning approval from a federal appeals court.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in March upheld a 2016 Ohio law banning preventive health funding from going to organizations that perform or promote abortions. (Read more from “Two Planned Parenthood Clinics Closing in Ohio After Funding Cuts” HERE)

Planned Parenthood Clinics Reopens

By WBAA. The Fort Wayne Health Center operated by Planned Parenthood of Kentucky and Indiana INC. officially opened September 3, just over a year after it closed due to protests.

Planned Parenthood’s website lists the new location at 2930 Lake Avenue. It also lists services ranging from men and women’s health care, to HIV testing and birth control, as well as abortion referrals, but no abortion services. . .

In a Facebook post, Planned Parenthood of Kentucky and Indiana posted a bright pink image of the state of Indiana with a Planned Parenthood logo over the geographic location of Fort Wayne, under the words, ‘We’re Back!’ The caption accompanying the picture reads:

“Anti-reproductive health attacks on Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky’s Fort Wayne health center forced it to close, but we didn’t back down. Fort Wayne is open again and we will continue to fight back in the legislature and in the courts to ensure Hoosiers have access to the care they need and deserve.”

Border Patrol Just Released New Illegal Crossing Numbers and It’s Clear Trump’s Policies Are Working

By Townhall. U.S. Customs and Border Protection released new apprehension numbers Monday afternoon proving President Trump’s tough border security policies are working.

“During the month of August, CBP apprehended or deemed inadmissible a total of 64,006 people. For July, that number was 82,055. This represents a decline of approximately 22%. Moreover, the August number reflects a decline of 56% since the May peak, which was a staggering 144,255,” Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan announced.

Morgan released the numbers from the White House and stressed that while new policies are working, there is still a crisis at the border. Congress, which is back in session today after August recess, must change weak asylum laws and stop catch-and-release.

“President Trump negotiated with Guatemala to have migrants apply for asylum there rather than making the journey to the U.S. Thanks to President Trump’s negotiating, Mexico agreed to step up enforcement at their own borders and stop the flood of migrants from reaching the U.S. Mexico has apprehended about 134,000 people in just the past few months since the U.S. and Mexico reached the agreement. We have expanded the Migrant Protection Protocols to allow more asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases proceed. As of September 1st, CBP has returned more than 41,500 individuals to Mexico under MPP,” the White House released in response to the significant decline. Watch: Hong Kong Police Teargas Peaceful Shoppers Without Warning

By PJ Media. Former Hong Kong Parliamentarian Ray Chan reports on what looks like a nearly random teargas attack by local police, on people who weren’t even protesting. Chan tweeted on Sunday that the attack took place “in the heart of #HongKong’s shopping, district, Causeway Bay, there were no protesters, just reporters, shoppers & bystanders.” Erin Hale, a freelance journalist and Hong Kong correspondent for the German Press Agency confirmed to Chan that “no warnings had been given” by police before firing.

Avoid Irresponsible Remarks on Hong Kong, China Warns UK MPs

By The Guardian. China’s ambassador to the UK has accused British politicians of exhibiting a “colonial mindset” when they express support for demonstrators in Hong Kong or raise concerns about Huawei or freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.

Liu Xiaoming said British MPs were free to express their opinion about the Hong Kong crisis but needed to recognise there were limits. Critical comments were not a problem “as long as you do not interfere in Hong Kong’s affairs,” he said.

At the same briefing, China’s military attache in the UK, Maj Gen Su Guanghui, said the Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier or any other British warship could face an armed response if it sailed through disputed waters in the South China Sea.

Liu said some UK politicians “still have a colonial mindset” and argued it was a problem if they made “irresponsible remarks to show support” for what he described as “demonstrators and rioters” in Hong Kong. (Read more from “Avoid Irresponsible Remarks on Hong Kong, China Warns UK MPs” HERE)

Lawsuit: City to Face the Music for Chick-Fil-A Airport Ban

On Thursday, five Texans who frequent the San Antonio airport and wish to eat Chick-fil-A there filed a lawsuit against the City of San Antonio under S.B. 1978, a new Texas law dubbed the “Save Chick-fil-A bill.” The new law forbids government actors from discriminating against religious groups or those associated with them, and removes government legal immunity from agencies that do so. The law’s passage followed the San Antonio airport’s ban on Chick-fil-A, citing “a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior” and calling the fast food chain “a symbol of hate.”

“The city’s continued exclusion of Chick-fil-A is based ‘wholly or partly’ on Chick-fil-A’s past and present contributions, donations, and support for certain religious organizations, including the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which is provides through its WinShape, its charitable foundation,” the lawsuit explains, citing the new law directly.

In the suit, the plaintiffs ask the court: to declare that San Antonio violated the law and continues to do so; to issue an injunction to prevent the city and the company Paradies Lagardère from excluding Chick-fil-A from the airport; to issue another injunction compelling the city to install a Chick-fil-A in the airport; to issue a third injunction preventing the city from “taking any adverse action against Chick-fil-A or any other person or entity, which is based wholly or partly on that person or entity’s support for religious organizations that oppose homosexual behavior;” and to order the city to pay attorney’s fees and other appropriate relief.

“If you thought we were bluffing, now you know we’re not,” Jonathan Saenz, Esq., president of the Texas Values Coalition, said in a statement on the lawsuit. “This is just one of many lawsuits that we expect to be filed against the San Antonio City Council for their illegal ban of Chick-fil-A. The continued religious ban on Chick-fil-A by the San Antonio City Council has by left citizens with no choice but to take this case to court. Any other vendor that tries to replace Chick-fil-A at the airport will be doing so under a major cloud of long and costly litigation with the city.”

The lawsuit presents the entire story of liberal outrage at Chick-fil-A. In 2010, the restaurant company gave over $8 million to the WinShape Foundation, a charitable organization run by the family of the late Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy. WinShape donated some of that money to Bible-believing Christian organizations such as the Family Research Council (FRC), Exodus International, Alliance Defense Fund (now Alliance Defending Freedom), the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and more. Biblical Town Linked to Jesus’ Resurrection May Have Been Found

Archaeologists in Israel may have discovered the Biblical town of Emmaus, which is linked to Jesus’ resurrection and the Ark of the Covenant.

Haaretz reports that archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a 2,200-year-old fortification at Kiriath-Jearim, a hill on the outskirts of Abu Ghosh, a village near Jerusalem.

The fortification dates back to the Hellenistic period when ancient Greek influence in the region was strong. Tel Aviv University Professor Israel Finkelstein told Haaretz that the walls were repaired during the later period of Roman rule in the first century A.D.

Finkelstein and his fellow researchers suggest that the site could be the famous Biblical town, or village, of Emmaus. According to Christian tradition, Jesus appeared to two of his apostles on the road to Emmaus after his crucifixion and resurrection.

In Luke 24:13-35 Emmaus is described as being about 7 miles from Jerusalem. This corresponds with the distance between Kiriath-Jearim, Abu Ghosh and Jerusalem. (Read more from “Biblical Town Linked to Jesus’ Resurrection May Have Been Found” HERE)

Records Raise New Questions About FBI’s Michael Flynn Investigation

By Fox News. Then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe told the White House in early February 2017 that the bureau was not considering the national security adviser at the time, Michael Flynn, for a potential Logan Act prosecution over conversations with the Russian ambassador before Donald Trump was sworn in as president, government records reviewed by Fox News indicate.

McCabe was referring to the rarely prosecuted 200-year-old statute that bars American citizens from engaging with a foreign government without authorization from the current U.S. government.

The records also indicate that Flynn reported, on two separate occasions, in the days leading up to his White House firing that FBI agents told him the bureau investigation was over or being closed out.

Both incidents raise questions over the underlying offense that formed the basis for the initial FBI and DOJ investigation into Flynn.

The retired general was later fired by the White House for misleading the vice president about communications with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador, during the transition before Trump was sworn in. (Read more from “Records Raise New Questions About FBI’s Michael Flynn Investigation” HERE)

Adam Schiff Lashes Michael Flynn for Refusing to Cooperate

By Politico. Former national security adviser Michael Flynn has refused to cooperate with the House Intelligence Committee’s demand for testimony and documents, Chairman Adam Schiff wrote in a letter released Monday.

“Notwithstanding repeated efforts by committee staff to engage with your counsel and accommodate your adjournment requests, you have, to date, failed to comply with the committee’s subpoena or cooperate with the committee’s efforts to secure your compliance,” Schiff wrote in the letter to Flynn, which demands that the retired Army lieutenant general appear for testimony on Sept. 25.

Schiff said Flynn’s new counsel, Sidney Powell, “exhibit[ed] a troubling degree of unprofessionalism” in conversations with committee staffers, outlining a series of interactions between Powell and Schiff’s aides.

According to Schiff, Powell “refused to accept service” of the subpoena issued by the panel in June. Schiff indicated that Powell repeatedly sought deadline extensions for Flynn’s cooperation before ultimately ignoring phone calls attempting to arrange Flynn’s testimony for late July, just ahead of Congress’ six-week summer recess. Donald Trump Escalates War with Taliban, Peace Talks Are ‘Dead’

By Breitbart. President Donald Trump said Monday that talks with the Taliban about peace with Afghanistan were over, citing the terrorist attack last week in Kabul.

“They’re dead as far as I’m concerned,” Trump said when asked about the proposed talks with Taliban leaders.

Trump spoke to reporters as he left the White House, after he canceled a meeting scheduled with the Taliban at Camp David for Sunday.

The president called the Taliban attacks “a big mistake.”

He said that the United States had escalated attacks against the Taliban in response to the terrorist attack that killed 12 people as well as one U.S. soldier and one Romanian solder in Kabul. (Read more from “Donald Trump Escalates War with Taliban, Peace Talks Are ‘Dead’” HERE)

After Trump Calls off Talks, Afghanistan Braces for Violence

By The New York Times. President Trump’s decision to break off peace talks with the Taliban, at least for now, left Afghanistan bracing for a bloody prelude to national elections this month, while the administration declined on Sunday to rule out a withdrawal of American troops without a peace accord.

In a round of television interviews, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed an attack by the Taliban for the cancellation of talks at Camp David this weekend that the administration had expected would lead to the signing of a peace agreement.

Mr. Pompeo said that the Taliban had “tried to gain negotiating advantage by conducting terror attacks inside the country,’’ resulting in the death of an American soldier in Kabul. “We’re going to walk away from a deal if others try to use violence to achieve better ends in a negotiation,’’ he said.
