Gay, Radical 2020 Dem: Christianity Has Extremist Factions, Just Like Islam

By Breitbart. Mayor Pete Buttigieg claimed Friday that Christianity had its own extremist factions of faith similar to that of radical Islam in the Middle East.

Asked about the differences between Shia extremism followed in Iran versus Sunni extremism, the 2020 presidential candidate immediately compared radical Islam to Christianity.

“Well, you know, not unlike Christianity when it is motivating someone to do something extreme. It can have a thousand different flavors,” he said. “The real question is what’s going on with the regime, the government, that’s given the power and the apparatus of the state and intelligence service and a military, and what do they do with their ideology?” . . .

The South Bend mayor also compared the radical Iran regime to President Donald Trump’s administration, insofar as whether they were representative of the entire population.

“You know, Iran, the Iranian regime does not speak for all of the Iranian people as a unit any more than, you know, you could say that there are no moderate politicians in the U.S., and we’re all secretly enthusiastic Trump supporters,” he said. “It just doesn’t work that way.” (Read more from “Radical 2020 Dem: Christianity Has Extremist Factions, Just Like Islam” HERE)

Gay Dem Candidate Buttigieg Compares Christians to Islamic Extremists, Calls Pence ‘Fanatical’

By CBN News. Meanwhile, Buttigieg says he’s a Christian, but he’s been touting his homosexuality and his marriage to a man named Chasten Glezman as a campaign issue, lashing out repeatedly at Vice President Mike Pence over his conservative Christian views.

On the campaign trail, Buttigieg has blasted Pence’s cultural and religious conservatism.

Appearing on The Stephen Colbert Show last month, Buttigieg said of Pence, “He’s nice. If he were here, you would think he’s a nice guy to your face. But he’s also fanatical.”

He lashed out at the vice president for his biblical views on sexuality.

“If it was a choice,” Buttigieg said of being same-sex attracted, “it was a choice made way above my pay grade.” (Read more from “Gay Dem Candidate Buttigieg Compares Christians to Islamic Extremists, Calls Pence ‘Fanatical'” HERE)

Pollster Reveals the ‘Likely’ 2020 Democratic Nominee

Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “MediaBuzz,” pollster Frank Luntz predicted Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) would be the eventual 2020 Democratic presidential nominee. . .

Partial transcript as follows:

HOWARD KURTZ, FOX NEWS: An exclusive first look at a poll about socialism versus capitalism. It turns out the ideas pushed by Democrats such as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may have lots of support in their party, while capitalism isn’t polling so well.

Frank Luntz found in an online survey of 1,000 people that 52% of Hillary Clinton voters agree with the statement “I prefer living in a socialist country to a capitalist one,” against just 16% of Donald Trump voters. Asked about the AOC proposal to impose a 70% tax on the top 1% of taxpayers, 79% Clinton voters agree, and so do 46% of Trump voters. And veteran Republican pollster Frank Luntz joins us now. Before we get to more numbers, is the media kind of soft on socialism? I mean favorable press to Democrats like Bernie Sanders and AOC, being tough on flaws of capitalism, the excesses of big corporations.

FRANK LUNTZ: All you have do is read “The New York Times” business section. Typically seven stories, six of the seven will be hostile to a corporation or hostile to capitalism as we know it. In fact, it has gotten so bad that I started to say to people: stop trying to defend capitalism, it is economic freedom. Capitalism they think of Wall Street, profits, they think about losing their jobs. Economic freedom is Main Street, small business, why we are so successful as a country. It has been so demonized, and the rich and successful have been demonized — the assumption now is if you made money you did so in an improper way.

WATCH: Biden Supporter Makes Disturbing Comments About Creepy Candidate

During a Tuesday event in Nevada, a woman shouted, “You can hug and kiss me anytime, Joe.”

It was evident Biden was uncomfortable with the comment. After all, he’s done everything can possibly can to move past the “Creepy Joe” image he’s been battling.

What’s interesting: Biden laughed as the crowd cheered. They cheered at the thought of hugs and kisses from Joe Biden. . .

Biden has come under fire after multiple women came forward, accusing him of inappropriately touching them while he was Vice President. What made things even more ironic: Biden worked on a sexual assault campaign with Lady Gaga. It was a program that Biden even made a point of highlighting when he announced his intent to run for president.

The Left has been entirely hypocritical about the sexual harassment allegations launched against Biden. They continually tell women to stand up, speak out and say something…but apparently that only applies when the person that’s being accused is a Republican. Kamala Harris Has a Really Deep-State View of the Department of Justice

As attorney general of the United States, William Barr serves at the pleasure of Donald J. Trump and takes direction from him as president of the United States. 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., seems to have a problem with that.

On a recent MSNBC appearance, Harris told host Rachel Maddow, “The attorney general is supposed to act on behalf of the people and not act as the president’s henchman.”

Harris made the statement after Maddow asked whether or not Barr had been given direction from the White House on his current probe into what led to his agency’s Russia election investigation.

Harris also sent a letter Friday asking DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz to look into whether the White House directed Barr to investigate anyone, saying, “There must be no doubt that the Department of Justice and its leadership stand apart from partisan politics, and resist improper attempts to use the power of federal law enforcement to settle personal scores.”

That talking point sounds great to Trump-haters and those looking to undermine AG Barr’s investigations. But it just doesn’t stand up to a simple understanding of the Constitution. Like it or not, President Trump is William Barr’s boss, and the attorney general serves at the president’s choice.

Executive appointees pursue the agenda of the president who nominated them. That’s what they do. They act on behalf of the people by pursuing the agenda of the guy the people elected.

And if the agenda is to find out what happened in some very shady-looking stuff at the DOJ and FBI during a previous administration, well, that job goes to the AG, folks.

It may sound like a great thing to have government officials and agencies that are completely independent from political considerations. But in the real, imperfect world that we inhabit, “independent” government is usually just fancy marketing for unaccountable government, and political considerations are what keep government actors in check.

But indeed, Americans should make sure that the people who enforce our laws “resist improper attempts to use the power of federal law enforcement to settle personal scores.”

After all, law enforcement officials could do some pretty bad stuff if they felt themselves too independent from political oversight and public backlash. They could, for example, target political candidates and their campaigns for clandestine investigation via dubious intelligence warrants based on specious political research documents. Some could even leak information about said investigations to a hungry, biased media, thereby giving fuel to their political opponents to bog them down with partisan investigations for years at a time.

And that’s the sort of thing that belongs in a corrupt banana republic or a totalitarian police state, not the United States of America. And that just happens to be the sort of thing Barr is investigating right now.

After all the high-flown language about serving the American people, law enforcement agencies and their heads have to be accountable to someone. And that someone has to be accountable to the voting public. That plus legislative oversight and legal checks from the judicial branch are how the AG remains accountable to the Constitution and the people.

Since she used to be California’s attorney general herself, Harris should be familiar with the concept.

Pelosi Reveals Her Biggest Fear of 2020 Dem Win – It’s Ridiculous

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is worried President Trump might not step down if defeated in 2020, according to a report published Saturday. . .

She urged the Democrats to win the debate that matters most to many voters inside the party: electability. “Own the center-left, own the mainstream,” she said. . .

Last Wednesday, Pelosi pushed out a statement taking aim at the Trump administration in the aftermath of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, blasting the president as “immoral, unethical, corrupt and unpatriotic.” . . .

The President has made clear that he will broadly defy requests for information from Capitol Hill. Trump’s obstruction extends to Democrats’ inquiries on issues that address the challenges facing American families from the Administration’s efforts to sabotage Americans’ health care to its cruel family separation policy,” the statement read.

Trump told Fox News last Thursday that he would not allow former White House counsel Don McGahn or other administration officials to testify. “They’ve testified for many hours, all of them. I would say, it’s done,” the president said. “Nobody has ever done what I’ve done. I’ve given total transparency. It’s never happened before like this. They shouldn’t be looking anymore. It’s done.” (Read more from “Pelosi Reveals Her Biggest Fear of 2020 Dem Win – It’s Ridiculous” HERE)

Another Ridiculous Candidate Is Supposedly Jumping Into the 2020 Race

Mayor de Blasio will jump into the 2020 presidential race next week, according to four people with knowledge of his plans, entering a crowded field of 21 other Democratic hopefuls and two Republicans — dead last. . .

And not a second too soon. The last-minute announcement by the mayor — whose reputation for being late was cemented by his tardiness to a 2014 event honoring victims of American Airlines Flight 587 — has many politicos scratching their heads.

“Whatever theoretical bases he may target are already being courted by nationally recognized figures,” one of the sources said. “He may have a shot if every Democratic candidate is caught sending racy selfies to minors.” . . .

Fairness PAC spokesman Mike Casca — who took an unpaid leave of absence from City Hall last month to work for the committee — said “no decision” has been made yet but wouldn’t explicitly deny that de Blasio was announcing a campaign next week. . .

Two other City Hall staffers — deputy press secretary Olivia Lapeyrolerie and deputy director of executive operations Alexandra Kopel — will take leaves to work for the PAC and use their vacation days. De Blasio’s intergovernmental affairs director Jon Paul Lupo is already using time off to work on the nascent campaign. Anti-Gun 2020 Candidate Publishes Embarrassing Message About the Constitution

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) wants your vote in the 2020 presidential election, but he may first want to brush up on the Constitution. In his own way of trying to stand up for women’s rights (or to just court the woman vote?), he tweeted the following observation.

Other social media users, who didn’t pretend to be constitutional scholars, were quick to note that the word “man” is mysteriously absent from the document too.

Still, actress Patricia Arquette shared similar sentiments on the Hill Wednesday, when speaking on behalf of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Revealed: This Is the Trump Team’s Campaign Strategy Heading Into 2020

President Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, discussed the team’s 2020 strategy on Sunday’s episode of “Face the Nation.”

During the discussion, Parscale revealed a few key battleground states that they’re targeting. The goal is simple: to win the same states they won during 2016 but expand to even more states. . .

“I can go across America and say, ‘hey, here is a voter in Minnesota that if I know if I get, you know, 26,000 of these perfect people to show up that didn’t show up last time, I can flip that state.’ So what I do, go find them now,” Parscale explained. “We are spending millions of dollars a month, light years ahead of any campaign in history to build a foundation of who we need to market to, what we need to understand, what we need to say to them and how exactly to deliver to them.” . . .

“There are some key states, obviously, we have to go back and win Michigan again, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, we plan on also being in Minnesota very soon. I think New Mexico is in play in 2020,” Parscale said. “I think New Hampshire. I think we continue to grow the map. I think Nevada, you know, even Colorado. And so those are states we did not win in 2016, I think are open for 2020.”

Although the Trump campaign plans to focus heavily on digital advertising and social media, the ground game, like rallies and campaign events, are still heavily in play.

Trump Makes 2020 Prediction, Gives ‘Top Dems’ Hilarious Nicknames

By Fox News. President Trump offered his thoughts Tuesday night on which two Democratic contenders he thinks will be left standing in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary.

Out of the crowded pool of contenders, Trump predicted on Twitter that former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders will be the final two in the battle to be the party’s nominee. . .

Shortly ahead of a Fox News town hall Monday night, Sanders’ presidential campaign released his 2018 returns. According to the figures, Sanders and his wife Jane paid a 26 percent effective tax rate on $561,293 in income, and made more than $1 million in both 2016 and 2017. Nearly $400,000 of his income last year came from book sales.

Sanders later fired back at the president for his remarks, tweeting that Trump seemed “scared of our campaign.”

2020 fundraising: Top takeaways from the first quarter

By WQAD 8. There’s an early top tier in fundraising — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, California Sen. Kamala Harris, former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg — but no one came close to Trump’s haul.

Many of the early contenders are struggling to compete for dollars.

Of the 16 Democratic candidates who filed first-quarter reports with the Federal Election Commission, half raised $3 million or less from donors in the first three months of the year. That includes New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro.

It’s a sign that Democratic donors haven’t yet coalesced behind the contenders, said Anthony Corrado, a campaign-finance expert who teaches at Colby College in Maine. “It’s a huge field of not very well-known candidates.” (Read more from “2020 fundraising: Top takeaways from the first quarter” HERE)

There’s Something on These Secret Police Tapes That a 2020 Candidate Doesn’t Want Released

By Townhall. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is officially a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination. You wouldn’t think that a mayor of a small city would be in contention, but he’s at the top. His star has been rising since rumblings of his campaign moves were reported. He raised more money than better-known progressives, like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). He’s in the top five in terms of those filling their war chests. He’s apparently been well received in Iowa. So, with the 2020 Democratic clown car getting bigger, how do you thin the heard? Well, you attack and it seems the opposition research firms are doing their best in trying to create a race problem for Buttigieg. It deals with the demotion of the city’s first black police chief (via The Hill):

An Indiana judge will rule soon on whether to release five cassette tapes of secretly recorded conversations between South Bend police officers that led to the 2012 demotion of Police Chief Darryl Boykins, the city’s first ever black police chief.

The South Bend City Council subpoenaed Buttigieg to win release of the tapes, which were at the center of a police department shake-up and a series of lawsuits.

Buttigieg’s critics say he’s gone to great lengths to conceal the contents of the tapes, which some believe could include racist language by white police officers.

There is roiling anger in South Bend over the allegations of racism. Black leaders in the city say that if there is evidence of racism, it could call into question scores of convictions that stemmed from white police officers investigating black suspects in a city that is 25 percent black.

Secret Tapes? “Mayor Pete” Jumps Into The Race — And So Does Oppo Research

By Hot Air. Like so many others who run for president, Pete Buttigieg’s official announcement yesterday came as an anti-climax after having telegraphed the move for weeks if not months. “They call me Mayor Pete,” the Democrat told a home-town crowd, highlighting his “audacity” at running an outsider campaign for the nomination at his young age. . .

CNN was pretty impressed with the “electric” atmosphere. Vanessa Yurkevich notes that the only really surprising development was that Buttigieg avoided talking about Pence in his launch speech. Alex Burns calls him a “generational change agent” that threatens the ambitions of Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders:

Or maybe he’s causing someone a sleepless night or two. It’s hardly a coincidence that this bomb dropped within hours of Buttigieg’s official entry into the race:

Pete Buttigieg’s meteoric rise as a presidential candidate is putting a spotlight on his years as mayor of South Bend, Ind., including his demotion of an African American police chief.

An Indiana judge will rule soon on whether to release five cassette tapes of secretly recorded conversations between South Bend police officers that led to the 2012 demotion of Police Chief Darryl Boykins, the city’s first ever black police chief.
