By Breitbart. Democrat presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell (D-CA) suggests he will enumerate his gun control agenda near the NRA’s national headquarters Monday.

The cornerstone of his plan is the forced buyback of every AR-15, AK-47, and similar commonly-owned semiautomatic rifles in the U.S.

Swalwell initially intimated the government could nuke Americans who refuse to comply with the confiscatory plan, then softened the push by telling CNN’s Jake Tapper that the non-compliant would simply face jail time. He also added a third option–those who did not want to give their guns to the government could instead take them to a hunting or shooting club. Swalwell to Pitch Gun Control Plan near NRA Headquarters

By The Hill. The California Democrat announced Friday he will unveil a “comprehensive national framework for ending gun violence” at a news conference Monday near the NRA’s national headquarters in Fairfax, Va.

“We’re done letting the bullying, tweeting minority that leads the NRA dictate whether Americans live or die,” he said. “I’m taking the battle to the NRA’s doorstep with a new, broader package of commonsense reforms to end gun violence. We’re done relying on thoughts and prayers – it’s time to act.”

Watch: 2020 Dem Makes a Disgusting Argument for ‘Paying for Abortions’

Abortion rights advocates are furious with former Vice President Joe Biden for flip flopping on the Hyde Amendment, which bans taxpayer funding of abortions. At the beginning of May, he told an ACLU activist that yes, he would abolish the law. But on Tuesday he said he actually still supports it.

That opinion doesn’t fit in with the progressive wing of the party, so fellow presidential candidates like Seth Moulton are wishing Biden “would change his position.”

“I think it’s wrong,” Moulton said during a CNN interview on Thursday. “It disproportionately attacks women who don’t have the private means to afford an abortion.”

He then made an interesting – no, egregious – comparison.

“It’s sort of like saying, ‘I support the troops, but I don’t want to pay them.'”

Ilhan Omar Has Bizarre Response to 2020 Dem’s Request to Debate AOC

By Fox News. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., rebuked a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate on Wednesday after he defended his offer to debate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. . .

She was responding to former Rep. John Delaney, D-Md., who pushed to debate Ocasio-Cortez after she told him to “sashay away” from the 2020 field, citing his position on “Medicare-for-all”

Delaney appeared to provoke the ire of California Democrats on Saturday when he told the state’s Democratic convention that “Medicare-for-all” was bad policy. . .

When Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent “Medicare-for-all” supporter, criticized Delaney’s statement, he requested a debate with the progressive congresswoman.

Her refusal prompted the response that Omar blasted on Wednesday. “At a minimum, we have to be tolerant of different views on achieving the same goal: universal healthcare,” Delaney tweeted, alongside an article about Ocasio-Cortez’s refusal. Ocasio-Cortez Fights Against Solitary Confinement for Manafort

By Politico. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday took up an unlikely cause — the plight of convicted fraudster Paul Manafort.

The progressive lawmaker expressed alarm at reports that President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman would likely be held in isolation after his expected transfer to Rikers Island — the New York City jail complex is in her congressional district — to face additional state fraud charges.

“A prison sentence is not a license for gov torture and human rights violations. That’s what solitary confinement is,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Manafort should be released, along with all people being held in solitary.”

The freshman lawmaker doubled down on her comments when told that Manafort may technically be placed in protective custody. She tweeted that protective custody is a separate method, but “does not necessarily exclude solitary. If he is in fact not being held in solitary, great. Release everyone else from it, too.”

Expert Who Correctly Predicted Last 9 Presidential Elections Says There Is Only One Way Trump Could Lose 2020

By The Blaze. Professor Allan Lichtman, an American historian who correctly predicted the previous nine presidential elections, says President Donald Trump is heading to almost certain victory in 2020 — and there is only one possible roadblock to his second term. . .

Lichtman said on CNN that Trump’s only re-election roadblock will come if “Democrats grow a spine and do their Constitutional duty, and move into an impeachment inquiry.

“It’s a false dichotomy to say Democrats have a choice between doing what is right and what is constitutional and what is politically right,” Lichtman explained. “Impeachment is also politically right.”

Lichtman went on to debunk the idea that impeachment would backfire against Democrats, explaining the road to George W. Bush’s presidency — a major Republican victory — was paved by Republicans pursuing impeachment against Bill Clinton. . .

Politico reported last month that multiple election prediction models and election experts believe that if the election were held today, Trump would likely win in a “landslide” victory. The experts and their models analyze the economy and other factors — not political polls. Donald Trump Earns Presidential Image Through Successful Policy

By The Hill. Some politicians affect a certain style to distract voters from their lack of substance. Conversely, President Trump relies on substance to remind the American people what matters most of all, which is results. In a Gallup poll two years ago, only about a third of the country felt Trump had the personality and leadership qualities that a president should have.

According to a recent Gallup poll, that view is now held by 40 percent of Americans. with Republicans, Democrats, and independents all reporting a higher assessment of his leadership qualities. Incredibly, the percentage of Democrats who say Trump meets their presidential expectations has more than doubled since 2017, increasing from 6 percent to 13 percent. Even among Republicans, who have always had a high opinion of Trump ever since he entered office, his ratings are up by seven points.

The findings also shed light on the reason that Americans are so much more likely to view Trump as presidential today than they were two years ago, which is that he is winning people over with his successful policy agenda. According to the same Gallup poll, 47 percent of Americans now say they agree with Trump on the issues that matter most to them, a significant increase from the 39 percent who said the same thing two years. In contrast, only 45 percent of respondents agreed with President Obama on the important issues at the same point in his first term. Bernie Gets Called out for ‘Blatantly Dishonest’ Tweet

On Monday’s episode of “Dear America,” host Graham Allen called out Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) after the 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful posted an intentionally misleading statistic about gun-related deaths on Twitter Sunday.

“That is blatantly dishonest, and I want to explain that to you,” Graham said. “Because the left wants you to think that there were 40,000 people who died due to mass shootings … because they want to push their agenda on gun control.” . . .

“What they blatantly leave out, on purpose, is that two-thirds of those deaths were due to suicide,” he said, emphasizing that it was not his intention to downplay the tragedy of suicide but to demonstrate the way the information had been presented to be misleading. . .

Illegal Aliens Get Minimum Sentence for Killing Couple, Raping Little Girl

Two illegal aliens received prison sentences of 12 to 20 years, one for killing a young couple in a sanctuary city and another for raping a 12-year-old girl.

The Angel Family of 34-year-old Logan Wilson and his wife 32-year-old Jessica Wilson is outraged after an illegal alien was sentenced to just 12 years in prison after killing the young couple in a drunk driving crash in August 2018 in the sanctuary city of Marion County, Oregon.

Weeks ago, illegal alien Eduardo de la Lima Vargas from Mexico received a sentence of 12 years after killing the Wilsons, leaving their three young children now without parents, in a drunk driving crash where the couple’s motorcycle was wedged under the illegal alien’s pickup truck, Breitbart News originally reported. . .

A separate case last month ended with an illegal alien convicted of raping a 12-year-old Mississippi girl receiving a sentence of 20 years, the minimum sentence for statutory rape of a child in the state.

Valentin Ariosto Alfonso-Arguello, a 38-year-old illegal alien, received just 20 years in prison with eight years suspended for coercing a 12-year-old girl into giving him her phone number, then raping her in his truck after getting off work. 2020 Dem Candidate’s Distant Family Makes Accusation: He’s Lying for Political Gain

By Washington Examiner. Pete Buttigieg’s brother-in-law is accusing the gay Democratic presidential hopeful of hijacking his family’s history for political advantage by crafting a bogus backstory of poverty, homelessness, and homophobia.

Rhyan Glezman, 34, a pastor in small-town Michigan, said he was inundated by death threats and hate mail when stories surfaced this month claiming he was a bigot who had fallen out with his younger brother Chasten when Chasten came out of the closet.

The reports were based on a Washington Post article, which described how Chasten, 29, was forced out of the family home and never reconciled with his two brothers. . .

A mayor from a small city and his husband, a child who grew up with nothing and his parents kicked him out … it makes a perfect political story for the campaign,” he said in an interview with the Washington Examiner at his church in Clio. “To me that’s very sad. If that’s all you have to stand on, you’re not fit to be president of the United States.”

The gray church building stands on the outskirts of Clio, a town of about 2,600 people, along a road of sporting goods stores and nondescript restaurant chains. Inside, worshipers are greeted by a verse from Romans: “The pain that you’ve been feeling can’t compare with the joy that’s coming.” Evangelical services are held in a traditional prayer space or, for more enthusiastic participants, in the gym. Brother of Buttigieg’s Husband: ‘I Just Don’t Support the Gay Lifestyle’

Rhyan Glezman, a pastor of a Christian church in Michigan, told the Washington Post he was not surprised when his brother Chasten came out.

“I want the best for him,” Glezman said. “I just don’t support the gay lifestyle.” . . .

Chasten Buttigieg, 29, came out the summer after high school graduation. He said he told his family last about his sexuality. . .

2020 Candidate DEFENDS Late-Term Abortions, Claims They’re ‘Hypothetical’

The 2020 Democratic presidential candidates thus far have all taken a position supporting abortion without limit. At the federal level, abortion is legal in the United States up to nine months of pregnancy. While some states have enacted prohibitions on abortion — including restricting the procedure after a certain point in pregnancy — other states permit abortions without exception.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg called abortion a “national right” and an “American freedom” during the recent Fox News Presidential Town hall. Host Chris Wallace asked Buttigieg, “[D]o you believe — at any point in pregnancy — whether it’s at six weeks or eight weeks or 24 weeks or whenever — that there should be any limit on a woman’s right to have an abortion?”

Buttigieg responded, “I trust women to draw the line when it’s their own bodies.” He then proceeded to downplay the number of late-term abortions done annually, first calling them “hypothetical,” and then when Wallace corrected him, downplaying and inaccurately representing the percentage of late-term abortions among all abortions in the United States. . .

Buttigieg then suggested that late-term abortions were “hypothetical.” . . .

But according to the most recent data reported to the CDC in 2015, abortions committed at 21 weeks gestation or greater represent approximately 1.3 percent of all reported abortions. This 1.3% statistic is also quoted by Guttmacher, which gathers more comprehensive abortion data. The fact is, abortionists control the abortion data on later abortions and only a small number of states even require abortion data by gestation. And therefore, these numbers are not definitive. This Poll Gives STRONG Evidence for Reelection of President Trump

According to the results of a CBS poll conducted between May 17-20, the chances of president Trump getting elected look pretty strong, as the poll found 71% of respondents felt the economy was in good shape. 94% of Republicans and 66% of Independents agreed, and even an astonishing 60% of Democrats echoed the sentiment.

Additionally, the poll found that as opposed to the beginning of 2018, when only 32% of respondents gave Trump credit for the strong economy, that figure has risen to 41%. Another 44% gave Trump partial credit for the strong economy.

In the last four months, the percentage of respondents who are optimistic about the stock market rose from 49% to 56%. 64% of respondents felt reasonably confident about their own financial situation. . . .

And the reality is, voters don’t like to punish incumbents when the economy feels fine. Remove Gerald Ford, who was never elected in his own right and had just pardoned Richard Nixon, and you have only three incumbents who’ve lost reelection in the last 100 years. The other three each had an economic calamity they were dealing with. Herbert Hoover had the Great Depression. Jimmy Carter had a recession. George H.W. Bush had a recession.

Americans Feel Good About Economy and Give Trump Credit

By CBS News. Most Americans remain confident about the U.S. economy and in their own financial situation, and more now give President Trump’s policies credit for a strong economy than did so last year.

Seven in 10 Americans say the economy is in good shape, including a quarter who say it is very good. Nearly all Republicans and most Democrats and independents share this view. . .

Forty-one percent of Americans approve of how Mr. Trump is handling his job as president. That is closer to where his rating was last summer than it was in this poll more recently, in January. Approval ratings have remained within a fairly narrow range throughout his presidency so far.

Across particular measures, the economy is the president’s strongest: 50% of Americans approve of how he’s handling the economy. 2020 Dem Wants to Create a Federal Office Dedicated to Expanding Abortion Rights

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker, N.J., seized on the national abortion debate Tuesday, unveiling an expansive abortion rights plan as part of his campaign platform that would involve the creation of a White House office dedicated to abortion.

“On Day One, I will create a White House Office of Reproductive Freedom, charged with coordinating and affirmatively advancing abortion rights and access to reproductive health care across my Administration,” Booker pledged in a statement Tuesday, “addressing all barriers to full reproductive autonomy, such as access to health care, including maternal and infant health, quality, affordable child care, and comprehensive paid family leave.”

Booker’s sweeping “reproductive rights” plan would also reverse the pro-life executive orders from President Donald Trump that bar federal funds from assisting organizations that promote or facilitate abortions; end the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal funds from being used to procure abortions; and once again force employer health plans to cover the cost of contraception.

“It has never been more important to stand in solidarity and join the fight to ensure that all women have access to reproductive health care and abortion rights,” Booker’s statement concluded. “These far-right attacks on women’s rights must be understood as an attack on all of our rights.”

The announcement of Booker’s abortion plan comes in the wake of a national discussion over pro-life laws in Ohio, Georgia, and Alabama, which either restrict abortion to the first few weeks of pregnancy or outlaw the process altogether.

In addition to the proposal, Booker also wrote “An Open Letter to Men on Abortion” last week for GQ, in which he wrote: “Men, it’s on us to listen, to speak out, and to take action. Not because women are our mothers, sisters, wives or friends — but because women are people. And all people deserve to control their own bodies.”

Abortion has become a major discussion point in the 2020 Democratic primary, and that discussion has mainly been a contest of who can move the furthest to the Left on the issue. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., tried to use Christianity to justify abortion, Joe Biden has now flip-flopped on the Hyde Amendment, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) wants to hamstring states’ abilities to pass pro-life laws.
